The big lie about the 'cost of living' crisis

debt as GDP UK cost of living
Here's what we know:
  • Britain is in the midst of a "Cost of Living Crisis"
  • The huge spike in the wholesale cost of natural gas is the cause
  • Vladimir Putin's murderous invasion of Ukraine is the source
For reasons I cannot understand, everyone accepts and regurgitates these blatant and obvious lies.

The truth is that the current crisis is not caused by the war in Ukraine and is neither unexpected nor unforeseen. In April 2020, as governments around the world shut down their economies to deal with COVID-19, we interviewed 2 economic commentators who are regulars on TRIGGERnometry: Dr Pippa Malmgren and Jim Rickards. When asked what the effects of the lockdowns and associated policies would be, both were unequivocal: inflation.

According to the Government's own estimates, COVID-related policies cost this country between £310 billion and £410 billion, the equivalent of between £4,600 and £6,100 per person and more than a third of the UK's annual budget (£1.1 trillion).

Protests erupt across Indonesia over 30% fuel increase and soaring inflation, police guard petrol stations

Thousands of people rallied in Indonesia's biggest cities on Tuesday (Sep 6), demanding the government reverse its first subsidised fuel price increase in eight years amid soaring inflation.

Under pressure to control a ballooning energy subsidy budget, President Joko Widodo on Saturday said he had little choice but to hike subsidised fuel prices by about 30 per cent in the country of 270 million people. Oil prices are about 32 per cent higher than a year ago.

Protests took place in and around the capital Jakarta and in the cities of Surabaya, Makassar, Kendari, Aceh and Yogyakarta, among a series of demonstrations led by students and labour groups that police say could draw big crowds this week.

And just as an example of the global nature of these protests (although particularly acute in the West), here's some footage from recent and ongoing protests in Germany:

France closes dozens of pools over soaring energy costs

French sports and education groups expressed outrage Tuesday at the closure of around 30 swimming pools, after their operator said surging heating costs made them no longer viable.

"These closures directly impact all children and adults who won't be able to learn to swim," the French Swimming Federation (FFN) said in a statement, demanding the pools' "immediate" reopening.

Vert Marine, which operates pools and ice rinks across France, said Monday that its annual energy bill had jumped to 100 million euros ($99 million) from 15 million euros -- a figure it said equalled "the company's entire annual revenue".

Elon Musk has criticized new fantasy series The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, stating on Twitter that late author J.R.R. Tolkien is "turning in his grave."

The critically acclaimed show, which debuted on September 1, is Amazon Prime Video's top premiere of all time, with the first two episodes pulling in a record-breaking 25 million viewers, per The Hollywood Reporter.

However, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk made it clear that he was unimpressed with the billion-dollar project when he shared his thoughts on Twitter on Monday.

Comment: The woke iteration of 'strong female character' tends to be divorced from the idea of a good character. If a character's entire reason for being on the screen is to be better than the men, you've got a boring movie on your hands. Characters need to develop, have flaws they're able to overcome and learn important lessons. If a female character is a master of everything right out of the gate, there's nothing to develop. Identity politics ruins story-telling because its entire purpose is to push ideology rather than entertain.

TV show offers paying energy bills as prize

British viewers say it's a sign things have turned "dystopian".

A British breakfast-time TV show has added paying energy bills for four months to its list of prizes in a call-in game, leaving many of its viewers stunned.

The changes to the 'Spin to Win' game on ITV's 'This Morning' in which the host spins a wheel to choose a cash prize for the player calling on the phone, started on Monday.
"This week, we've got our usual cash prizes, but you can also win some extra cash to pay your energy bills until the end of the year. That's four months of energy bills totally taken care of," the show's host Phillip Schofield said on air.

Comment: It looks more and more like the movie "Hunger Games". This is what happens when people blindly follow their psychopathic elites who are hungry for power and control.

Currently, the biggest problem is energy and how to stay warm during the coming winter. The next problem will be food shortages and how to survive from one day to the next.

China selling gas to the West amidst its own economic slowdown

china gas terminal lng
China's biggest energy groups are diverting more liquefied natural gas away from their languishing home market, offering some relief to desperate buyers suffering supply shortages in other parts of the world.

Cnooc is offering to sell an LNG cargo for November loading from the North West Shelf export project in Australia, according to traders with knowledge of the matter. That comes after other major shippers, including Sinopec and PetroChina Co., sold several LNG shipments from US projects to energy-starved Europe throughout the year, traders said.

The supplies should provide modest respite for natural gas markets rocked by Russia halting a key pipeline to European customers.

Comment: But the West sanctioned Russian energy markets, so surely them limiting supply shouldn't be a problem?

Natural gas prices in Europe and Asia are trading at an all-time high for this time of year, forcing governments to consider unprecedented steps to protect businesses and consumers.

Comment: So some of the gas is coming from the US, some from Australia, could there possibly be another region some of this gas will come from? Either way, it's not a bad position to be in, and China surely is benefiting from the West sanctioning itself out of all kinds of markets:

Two Russian embassy workers were among many people killed on Monday in an explosion outside the country's diplomatic mission in the Afghan capital, Kabul, Russia's Foreign Ministry has said.

A suicide bomber detonated his vest around the corner from the main gate of the Russian embassy, apparently targeting locals queuing for visas, according to local media.

The death toll has reached 25, with many more injured, according to Al Jazeera.

The blast occurred when an embassy employee went outside to people waiting in line, a source told RIA-Novosti news agency. Reuters earlier reported that compound guards were able to spot the suicide bomber and fired shots at him.

Russia's Investigative Committee said that, according to preliminary data, the slain embassy workers were an assistant secretary and a security guard.

Comment: More details on this tragedy out of Kabul: Most of the victims were reportedly Afghans queuing for visas.
"According to preliminary data, the assistant secretary and a security guard of the embassy were killed as a result of the attack," the Investigative Committee said in a Telegram post.

A criminal case has been launched over the death of the Russian mission's staff in the capital of Afghanistan.
ISIS claims responsibility for blast near the Russian Embassy:
Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) has claimed responsibility for Monday's suicide bombing in Kabul.

The terrorist group claimed that the attack was carried out by a foreign fighter. According to some reports, the attack was launched by a local Islamic State offshoot, ISIS-K.

It is the first attack on a diplomatic mission in Afghanistan claimed by ISIS since the 2021 Taliban takeover.

The killed embassy staffers were also mourned with a minute of silence during Lavrov's talks with his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Moscow.

Demand to declare a relationship with a Palestinian as an entry requirement into West Bank is dropped amid backlash

Israel has removed a controversial border-passage requirement for foreigners to declare their relationships with Palestinians, following an international backlash and pressure from Washington.

On Sunday, the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the Israeli Defense Ministry's department for Palestinian civil affairs, released an updated version of its guidance on "Procedure for entry and residence of foreigners in the Judea and Samaria area."

The document does not include several provisions which were part of the initial draft, published in February and which were supposed to come into force on Monday. Among the removed pieces is a requirement that any foreigner "forming a couple" with a West Bank resident after entering the territory should notify Israeli authorities within 30 days of the engagement, wedding, or the beginning of cohabitation, "whichever occurs first."
