Black passenger says American Airlines forced her to give up her 1st-class seat but let white friend stay

american airlines plane
On May 2, Rane Baldwin checked into American Airlines Flight 5389, leaving Kentucky for Charlotte, N.C. Baldwin, a black woman, and her friend Janet Novack, a white woman, were traveling together, and both had first-class seats because Baldwin bought and upgraded the tickets. But unfortunately for Baldwin, she was literally moved to the back of the plane.

In an interview with The Root, Baldwin said that the flight got off to a bumpy ride, even before takeoff, when the ticket agent scanned her first-class boarding pass and then handed her a ticket that showed her seat was at the back of the plane. Baldwin said that the agent didn't offer any explanation until she questioned him. She said that she was then told that she had been assigned a new seat because a plane change left fewer first-class seats. However, Novack's seat wasn't changed.

As Baldwin and Novack boarded their flight, Baldwin said, she tried to complain to the flight attendant but was completely ignored, unlike Novack. But even when Novack decided to move from first class to sit with Baldwin in the back of the plane, another flight attendant offered Novack another seat elsewhere.

Twisted minds: TSA under investigation for abusive 'rape-table' hazing rituals

"Hazing wouldn’t do this justice. This is complete assault. They take you in a room and your fellow officers are all watching as officers grab you"
The Department of Homeland Security is investigating US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers for allegedly assaulting fellow officers by duct-taping them to a "rape table" during a sickening hazing ritual at Newark Airport.

The shocking allegations came to light during a report by NBC 4 New York. A number of officers, part of the agency's Passenger Enforcement Roving Team, spoke out about the sexually abusive hazing ritual they were subjected to by veteran officers at the airport.

"Hazing wouldn't do this justice. This is complete assault. They take you in a room and your fellow officers are all watching as officers grab you," CBP officer Vito Degironimo told the station

Comment: This should remove any lingering doubts as to the psychopathic nature of those recruited by the government to 'protect' the public. More likely, we need protection from the TSA.

What the last Nuremberg prosecutor alive wants the world to know: War is never the answer

Ben Ferencz
Ben Ferencz
It is not often you get the chance to meet a man who holds a place in history like Ben Ferencz. He's 97 years old, barely 5 feet tall, and he served as prosecutor of what's been called the biggest murder trial ever. The courtroom was Nuremberg; the crime, genocide; the defendants, a group of German SS officers accused of committing the largest number of Nazi killings outside the concentration camps -- more than a million men, women, and children shot down in their own towns and villages in cold blood.

Ferencz is the last Nuremberg prosecutor alive today. But he isn't content just to be part of 20thcentury history -- he believes he has something important to offer the world right now.

The New York Department of Education has fired a substitute teacher working at a school in the Bronx, New York, after he allegedly ripped the hijab off an eight-year-old girl for "misbehaving" in class.

"This alleged behavior is completely unacceptable," said Michael Aciman, a New York Department of Education spokesman about the firing, according to the New York Post. "This individual was removed from the school immediately and his employment has been terminated."

Police said the incident happened last Tuesday at the Bennington School, PS 76, when the girl, Safa Alzockary, was playing up in class and sitting in the teacher's chair without his permission.

The teacher, Oghenetega Edah, 31, tapped her on the arm to get her to move. When she wouldn't he threatened to take the head scarf, according to NYPD.

A petition is calling for a local radio station in southern Arizona to be shut down, after it was revealed that for the past two years its manager aired a public service announcement giving advice on how to hide child pornography.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is investigating KAVV radio, also known as The Cave, over an announcement which has aired late at night and in the early morning hours with advice on how to hide child pornography.

The announcement was authored by station manager Paul Lotsof, who says he is exercising free speech to protest Arizona's draconian laws.

"Please take notice that the PSA in question does not condone child pornography in any way," Lotsof told KPHO/KTVK-TV. "It merely points out that the penalties for possession of child pornography are draconian, to the extent that the real victims are the people serving these incredibly long sentences."

A boy in Virginia was arrested and faces two felony charges after explosive devices were found in his school locker. School administrators received a report of suspicious material in a locker, prompting fire investigators to look into the matter.

"A student was running his mouth to another student" the day before he was arrested, one parent told WTKR.

The teenager was charged with two counts of manufacturing and possessing chemical explosive devices, according to the fire department.

"Investigators have found no evidence thus far that leads them to believe the juvenile had any malicious intent for the explosives or had any intention of harming anyone or using the devices at the school," the fire department said in a statement.

Two threatened species of lizards are getting in the way of a long-delayed railroad project in southern Germany, the Guardian reports.

The Stuttgart 21 rail project has repeatedly been delayed due to spiraling costs and debates over environmental concerns and viability.

This time, thousands of sand and wall lizards have been discovered along the route.

Resettling the reptiles could cost about €15 million ($16.3 million), according to Deutsche Bahn. The German railway company is one of the main players behind the project and said it has budgeted up to €4,000 to move each creature.
