Crews are scrambling to keep the clean up of a major jet fuel spill at a military airport in Virginia Beach as "environmentally conscious as possible." Officials say the majority of the spill at the Naval Air Station Oceana has been contained and no evacuations were ordered.

On Thursday, Navy spokesman Jim Moir said that fuel leaked from a tank into a ditch outside the base, according to a press release obtained by Associated Press.

Moir said the spill occurred when the fuel was being transferred from a truck to a storage tank Wednesday night and went unnoticed until 6:30am the next morning.

Another Navy spokesman, Tom Kreidel, told WAVY that roughly 94,000 gallons of JP-5 jet fuel had spilled, however, the Navy later said they were working with the city of Virginia Beach and the US Coast Guard to figure out the exact amount.

Crews were able to prevent most of the fuel from traveling off the base, US Coast Guard and Navy officials said Thursday.

Hypocritical much? John Oliver uses Trump tax loophole to avoid paying levy on $9mn NYC penthouse

US political satire show host, John Oliver, reportedly used a tax loophole exploited by Donald Trump in the 1980s, to buy a $9.5 million penthouse apartment in a building that was formerly owned by the billionaire turned President of the United States.

On Last Week Tonight, Oliver has positioned himself as an everyman, highlighting the cruel injustices in his adoptive home country.

However, it has now come to light that Oliver (net worth $5 million) and his number one target Trump may, in fact, have something in common.

In 2014, John Oliver discussed the ever-widening wealth gap in the United States. But mere months before the segment aired, however, Oliver hired high-profile legal firm Proskauer Rose LLP to handle his complex tax matters.

This is what a Russian found inside a Chinese phone 'click-farm'

On the day when Snapchat erased billions of market cap from investors (and founders) accounts - as the MAUs-means-money model seems to break - we thought it worthwhile taking another glimpse into the hush-hush world of 'click-farms' and the fakenews of the latest social network fads.

In 2014, we first exposed the world to the 'click-farm' where nothing is what it seems, and where social networking participants spend millions of dollars to appear more important, followed, prestigious, cool, or generally "liked" than they really are. As we detailed at the time, social networking has been the "it" thing for a while: for the networks it makes perfect sense because they are merely the aggregators and distributors of terabytes of free, third party created content affording them multi-billion dollar valuations without generating a cent in profits (just think of the upside potential in having 10 times the world's population on any given publicly-traded network), while for users it provides the opportunity to be seen, to be evaluated or "liked" on one's objective, impartial merits and to maybe go "viral", potentially making money in the process. Of course, the biggest draws of social networks also quickly became their biggest weaknesses, and it didn't take long to game the weakest link: that apparent popularity based on the size of one's following or the number of likes, which usually translates into power and/or money, is artificial and can be purchased for a price.

Eight princesses from the United Arab Emirates who brought their servants to Belgium and "abused them continually" have gone on trial.

Back in 2008, Princess Shekha Alnehayan, as well as her seven daughters, arrived in Brussels and booked a luxury suite - which is an entire floor, according to the Tribune de Geneve media outlet - at the Conrad Hotel for several months.

The Alnehayans are among the numerous wealthy families in the UAE, and came into the spotlight when they purchased English Premier League soccer club Manchester City back in 2008.

French workers occupy factory, threaten to blow it up in protest over possible closure

GMS Factory French Protest Seizure
Workers at a car component factory in central France have occupied the plant and are threatening to blow it up in a radical protest against their bosses as the site risks closure.

The workers at the GM&S auto-suppliers plant in the Creuse region, north of Limoges, have told Renault and Peugeot they are ready to blow up the factory if their demands are not met.

Some 280 jobs at the site are under threat after the plant went into receivership back in December, and workers accuse the two car giants of blocking negotiations for a takeover of the factory and of making too few orders.

The Lebanon-based movement Hezbollah has dismantled its military positions on the border with Syria as the mission of securing the area has been completed, the movement's secretary general, Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, said Thursday.

"There is no need in our presence on the Lebanese eastern borders after they are safe now. We have dismantled our bases there," Nasrallah told Al Manar broadcaster.

He added that the presence of Hezbollah fighters in settlements along the Syrian border did not contradict the mission of providing assistance to local people.

Snowflake protection zone: Colorado university to transform residence hall into 'social justice living environment'

SJWs, precious snowflakes
The University of Colorado at Boulder recently announced plans to transform one of its residence halls into a "Social Justice Living Environment" in the fall.

According to a press release on the matter, the Hallett Hall will be split into three "Living Learning Communities," one for "LGBTQIA-identified students and their allies," another for "students passionate about diversity," and a third for "black-identified students and their allies."

The hall already hosts the "Spectrum LLC" for "LGBTQIA-identifying students," offering "social and educational activities focusing on community dialogue and support," as well as access to gender-neutral bathrooms.

Starting next school year, Spectrum will be joined by a "Multicultural Perspectives LLC" featuring programs, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities relating to "social justice topics."

Comment: Universities aren't really helping to prepare these students for life in the real world by pandering to their social justice syndrome. Dr. Jordan Peterson posits a much more practical solution for those who want to change the world - "Truth is the proper route to societal improvement -- and that starts with the individual".
