Hackers responsible for the wave of cyber attacks that struck organizations across the globe on Friday from the UK's National Health Service to European telecoms company Telefónica used tools stolen from the US National Security Agency, the Financial Times has learned.

A tool known as Eternal Blue developed by US spies was used by the hackers to make an existing form of ransomware known as WannaCry more virulent, three senior cyber security analysts said.

Their analysis was confirmed by western security officials who are still scrambling to contain the attack that hit hospitals and doctors' practices across the UK.

The same or similar virus was used in a large scale attack on Telefónica, Spain's main telecoms provider. The People's Daily in China tweeted that similar attacks may have hit China.

Unidentified thieves stole weapons from inside a Fox armored personnel carrier after breaking into a military facility in northern Germany, the Bundeswehr confirmed to local media.

The perpetrators stole two G36 assault rifles, one P8 pistol, one flare gun, two magazines without ammunition, two radio devices, and a pair of binoculars, Die Welt reported, adding that the theft occurred on February 13 at a military training area near Munster, Lower Saxony.

The weapons were not loaded at the time of the theft, a ministry spokesperson said, according to Germany's Bild newspaper.

"The case has been handed over to the Prosecutor's Office in the city of Lueneburg," a spokesperson for the Bundeswehr, Germany's armed forces, told Die Welt.

The policy of regime change "in the name of democracy" gives terrorists control over vast territories and makes Christians flee and suffer, Russian Orthodox Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev told RT during his Washington visit.

One of the top clerics of the Russian Orthodox Church and head of External Church Relations, Hilarion Alfeyev, spoke to an RT correspondent after the World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians, which took place in the US capital.

The forum gathered representatives of more than 130 countries to testify on the persecution of Christians around the world.

Alfeyev noted that events in some states have "one and the same scenario," in which an existing regime is accused of various crimes and the leader is ousted for being 'undemocratic.'

An eight-year-old boy was knocked unconscious by a fellow student before being kicked and beaten by several others, footage from a Cincinnati elementary school reportedly reveals. The third-grader committed suicide just two days after the vicious assault.

The footage, filmed on January 24, takes place inside a restroom at Carson Elementary School, according to Cincinnati homicide detective Eric Karaguleff, as cited by the Cincinnati Enquirer.

According to Karaguleff, the video shows a boy in a red and gray coat enter the bathroom, prompting other children to leave.

The boy punches another child in the stomach, "sending him to the floor in all fours" and threatens another.

Gabriel Taye, 8, then walks in and tries to shake hands with the boy. The boy in the red and gray coat then yanks Taye to the ground and "appears to celebrate and rejoice in his behavior" as Taye lies motionless.

Passengers on board a Manchester-bound flight were delayed by almost 90 minutes on Wednesday as two men were marched off the plane after being accused by fellow passengers of "skipping security."

Travel agent Thomas Cook apologized to the men after they were forced off the aircraft following accusations by two women traveling on the same flight of having dodged airport security checks.

The "unverified concerns" meant the two men were sent back to the terminal to be scanned again, and that the flight, departing from Izmir, Turkey, was delayed by almost one hour and 30 minutes on Wednesday afternoon.

The accused, who are said to have remained patient throughout the ordeal, were then given the all clear and allowed back on board the MT685 service to Manchester Airport.

Their accusers, however, refused to travel with them and chose to return to the terminal instead.

Most U.S. colleges — 89% — reported zero incidents of rape in 2015, according to American Association of University Women (AAUW) analysis of data provided by schools to the U.S. Department of Education.

Reported is the key word. Just because a school had no rape reports doesn't mean no rapes happened.

AAUW's findings very likely do not reflect the true state of sexual violence among college students, since a majority of incidents go unreported. In fact, a 2014 report by the U.S. Department of Justice estimated that 80% of student victims don't report their rape or sexual assault to police, based on data from 1995 - 2013.

Still, the 2015 AAUW report isn't as rosy as the previous year's. In 2014, 91% of schools reported zero rapes, based on annual crime data disclosed by more than 11,000 colleges and universities.

Syrian Ambassador to Beijing: 5,000 Chinese Uighurs fighting in Middle East

The Syrian ambassador to China has said that upward of 5,000 ethnic Uighurs from China's far-west Xinjiang province are fighting in and amongst jihadist groups in Syria.

The Chinese government has warned in the past of the burgeoning Muslim insurgency within its borders, pointing the finger at the Uighurs for terrorist attacks inside China's borders.

The Uighurs have long framed their attacks as resistance to a Chinese state that tries to impose its will upon them by curtailing their cultural customs and religious practices. The Uighurs often cite Chinese government religious restrictions as symptomatic of China's intolerance of their religious freedom.

Hospitals across England have reportedly been hit by a large-scale cyberattack. Some are having to divert emergency patients, with doctors reporting messages demanding money.

The Guardian says National Health Service (NHS) hospitals across the country appear to have been simultaneously hit by a bug in their IT systems. Doctors have been posting on Twitter about what has been happening.

A screengrab of an instant message conversation circulated by one doctor says: "So our hospital is down ... We got a message saying your computers are now under their control and pay a certain amount of money. And now everything is gone."

A second doctor tweeted: "Massive NHS hack cyber attack today. Hospital in shut down. Thanks for delaying emergency patient care & endangering lives. Assholes."

After making a public statement on Monday — noting that him being caught exposing his genitals in a park was a 'misunderstanding' — DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann was seen on video running from police.

Unlike anyone else who would've been caught exposing their genitals in a park, Mann was given a forum in the press to attempt to clear his name. However, even with this special privilege, people aren't buying it.

As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution asks, What was he doing in an area of Piedmont Park police say is known for "sexual acts after dark"? And why, when confronted by an Atlanta police officer, did he flee, leading the officer on a quarter-mile chase before eventually surrendering?

Mann was given a forum with Channel 2 Action news to express his innocence. He noted that he appreciates Atlanta police and said he is "working with the City of Atlanta to clear these charges."
