UConn offers counseling services to students who may be offended at the thought of Ben Shapiro visiting campus

The University of Connecticut has decided to restrict public access to Wednesday's Ben Shapiro talk following a new "review" process that will be applied to all campus speakers.

According to Young America's Foundation, the organization set to sponsor the event, the only guests allowed to attend Shapiro's January 24 lecture are UConn students, faculty, and special pre-registered guests.

YAF Spokesperson Spencer Brown asserted that the review process was adopted by the public university after a controversial scuffle between Gateway Pundit journalist Lucian Wintrich and a protester at his on-campus lecture in November.

UConn apparently sees its students as weak, hapless children whose sense of self is so fragile that a mere visit from a speaker who has opposing views is deemed as a meaningful threat. Student who abide by this victim mentality will have much difficulty facing the real challenges of the world. University officials who encourage and indulge in such thinking have no business being in a position designed to foster responsibility.

Cop who beat innocent woman is caught on video AGAIN stomping a man's head

Brian Richter smashes women
Pulled over for driving 15 mph over the speed limit, an elementary school teacher was recorded on police dash cam video being slammed to the ground twice by an overly aggressive cop. After the woman was placed in the back of a patrol car, two separate videos caught the arresting officer making false statements regarding the arrest and another officer making racist comments to the restrained teacher. In spite of the glaring evidence against him, the officer responsible for the brutality, Brian Richter, did not face charges. He was allowed to remain a cop and has struck again.

After the incident, a grand jury did not indict him. The grand jury heard 13 hours of testimony from eight different witnesses over a three-week period before returning the irresponsible decision. As a result of their failure to hold this violent cop accountable, another person was victimized.

Just like the first offense, the second one was also captured on video. This time, Richter and Detective Steven McCurley were captured on video assaulting a drug suspect and then they were caught lying about it. Sadly enough, as the video below illustrates, this officer has been captured in multiple videos assaulting multiple people, many of whom were women.

DACA protesters storm Schumer's NYC home, demand 'amnesty 'now'

Dozens of illegal aliens surrounded Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) home in New York on Tuesday demanding that Congress pass legislation immediately to give millions of people in the United States illegally amnesty and a pathway to citizenship.

"We want a Clean Dream Act," the crowd chanted.

"When do we want it?" they chanted.

"Now!" they chanted.

The so-called Dreamers - some of whom are recipients of President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA - and potentially as many as 3.6 million illegals in all were reacting to the Senate vote on Monday to pass a Continuing Resolution funding the government until Feb. 8 that did not include any immigration amendments.

Comment: The real reason for the Dem's intransigence over DACA? They're hoping to import an entire voting bloc.

An Israeli football club has pledged to crack down on radical fans after a game marred by anti-Arab chants. The sports minister posted a video from the match which featured the offensive calls.

Beitar Jerusalem is notorious for having a radical component among its fan base. During a game on Monday against Bnei Sakhnin, the most successful Israeli Arab football club, some Beitar Jerusalem fans chanted slogans such as "I hate all Arabs," "Burn down your village," and "Muhammad is dead," according to the Times of Israel. There was an announcement at Beitar Jerusalem's Teddy Stadium, asking the fans to stop, but they continued with the chants.

Now, as the club faces fines for hate speech, management says they will shut down an entire section of the stadium, where the radical fans gather.

As crime-ridden Baltimore continues its mission to "rebuild community trust" in law enforcement, a police officer is indicted by a grand jury for allegedly planting drugs during an arrest, as seen on bodycam video.

Pinheiro was charged on Tuesday with misconduct and fabricating evidence in connection with the body camera video after Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced that a grand jury returned an indictment against the officer, according to WBAL.

Prosecutors in the case claim Pinheiro attempted to use his body camera footage with intent to deceive attorneys and investigators regarding where evidence was found in a case involving an individual charged with possession of drugs.

Academics say research is being blocked by universities' fear of online backlash

James Caspian
James Caspian plans to take Bath Spa University to judicial review
Academics say they have been forced to leave the country to pursue their research interests as British universities are accused of blocking studies over fears of backlash on social media.

As they come under increasing attack from online activists, some of the country's leading academics have accused universities of putting their reputations before their responsibility to defend academic freedom.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, they claim that university ethics committees are now "drifting into moral vanity" by vetoing research in areas that are seen as "politically incorrect".

Two clinicians who examined Assange renew calls for him to be given safe passage to hospital

Julian Assange's long stay in the Ecuadorian embassy in London is having a "dangerous" impact on his physical and mental health, according to clinicians who carried out the most recent assessments of him.

The pair renewed calls for the WikiLeaks publisher to be granted safe passage to a London hospital.

Sondra Crosby, a doctor and associate professor at the Boston University's school of medicine and public health, and Brock Chisholm, a London-based consultant clinical psychologist, examined Assange for 20 hours over three days in October.

In an article for the Guardian, they wrote: "While the results of the evaluation are protected by doctor-patient confidentiality, it is our professional opinion that his continued confinement is dangerous physically and mentally to him and a clear infringement of his human right to healthcare."

Although the two did not go into details, Assange's health appears to be deteriorating significantly after more than five years holed up in the embassy.

Comment: Ecuador granting citizenship to Assange may be directly related to the concerns about his health:

And what was that recent tweet from Wikileaks?

Pope Francis condemns 'fake news' as satanic, blasts journalists responsible

Pope Francis
Pope Francis on Wednesday condemned fake news as satanic, saying journalists and social media users should shun and unmask manipulative "snake tactics" that foment division to serve political and economic interests.

"Fake news is a sign of intolerant and hypersensitive attitudes, and leads only to the spread of arrogance and hatred. That is the end result of untruth," Francis said in the first document by a pope on the subject.

The document was issued after months of debate on how much fake news may have influenced the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign and the election of President Donald Trump.

Comment: Pope Francis writes that it's incumbent on journalists to be responsible for the information they purvey, but ultimately it's on all of us to seek out and live the truth:
None of us can feel exempted from the duty of countering these falsehoods. This is no easy task, since disinformation is often based on deliberately evasive and subtly misleading rhetoric and at times the use of sophisticated psychological mechanisms. [...]

I would like, then, to invite everyone to promote a journalism of peace. By that, I do not mean the saccharine kind of journalism that refuses to acknowledge the existence of serious problems or smacks of sentimentalism. On the contrary, I mean a journalism that is truthful and opposed to falsehoods, rhetorical slogans, and sensational headlines. A journalism created by people for people, one that is at the service of all, especially those - and they are the majority in our world - who have no voice. A journalism less concentrated on breaking news than on exploring the underlying causes of conflicts, in order to promote deeper understanding and contribute to their resolution by setting in place virtuous processes. A journalism committed to pointing out alternatives to the escalation of shouting matches and verbal violence.
