The ultra-rich have boosted spending on private security, especially after the assassination of UnitedHealthcare's CEO.

US billionaires have ramped up personal and residential security over the past few years, installing bulletproof fittings and panic rooms, Bloomberg has reported.

Private security firms had been in high demand even before the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson earlier this month, the outlet said on Monday, but the killing has sparked a new wave of spending on security.

Fortified Estate, a firm that installs armored doors, bulletproof-glass windows and other high-tech home fortifications, told the outlet that the month before the November US presidential election was one of the busiest on record.

"People just weren't sure what was going to happen," company-founder Jon Harris explained. Having set up the firm in 2018, Harris saw demand for home security surge among America's super-rich because of the the Covid-19 pandemic, the reaction to the killing of George Floyd and the 2021 storming of the US Capitol.

Former stripper and convicted murderer Crystal Mangum admitted Thursday that she lied and "made up a story" that three Duke University lacrosse players raped her at a team party in 2006.

"They trusted me that I wouldn't betray their trust, and I testified falsely against them by saying that they raped me when they didn't, and that was wrong," Magnum told the independent media outlet Let's Talk With Kat at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women.

"[I] made up a story that wasn't true."

Mangum, 46, said she made up the allegation because she "wanted validation from people and not from God."

A 15-year-old girl opened fire in the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday, killing a teacher and a student and wounding six others at the school she had attended, police said.

The suspect, Natalie Rupnow, is also dead, police said. Evidence suggests that the teen, who went by Samantha, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The teenage suspect used a handgun, police said. Authorities are investigating the origin of the firearm and searching Rupnow's home in the north side of the city, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said.

A motive is not clear, Barnes said at a news conference. It is also unclear if any of the victims was specifically targeted, officials said on Monday. The suspect's father was reportedly speaking with police at one of their facilities.

Best of the Web: Candace Owens named 'Antisemite of the Year' by online 'watchdog'

Firebrand pundit Candace Owens has been named "Antisemite of the Year" by watchdog StopAntisemitism, which says she "blew the competition away" with more votes than anyone in previous years.

"Candace Owens' witch's brew of antisemitism drew from vile medieval blood libels, including claims that Jews drink Christian blood, conspiracies that Jews are pedophiles who control the media and are 'taking over America,' and modern toxic anti-Israel hysteria," StopAntisemitism's founder, Liora Rez, told The Post.

"There is no psychotic rabbit hole too extreme for this poisonous hater."

StopAntisemitism bestowed the title last year on Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). Other recipients have included Ye, the Hitler-loving rapper formerly known as Kanye West, in 2022, and Tlaib's fellow "Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) in 2019.

The watchdog shared a video of comments from Owens — who split from The Daily Wire over her views — including her defending Ye's antisemitic tirades and also her attacking Israel, which she claimed had "occupied" the US, in the wake of the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre.

Comment: She may be a raging anti-Semite, but she's not a liar.

Why the Negative is now most important

Big Bomb
© Shrew Views
We are being brainwashed to believe everything is just fine. Everything except a few things that the powers that be want us to think are not fine, but we will be protected from them by the Great Multicolored Hope. These sanctioned bad things include Trump, Putin, Covid germs (along with a host of others, named and not yet named), Racists, Misogynists, LGTBQ++-phobes, Palestinians, Iranians, and a litany of other little things too numerous to mention. The "badness" each of these things hold is determined by TPTB, and can come and go on a whim, only to be replaced by whatever else might strike their fancy.

Common sense, and maybe a little bit of experience, might lead us to believe there are other scary things lurking under the bed that we should be frightened of, like US/NATO provoked nuclear war, genocide (pick a place), starvation, ineffective and dangerous vaccines and other prescription drugs, corruption in medicine, corruption in food production, chemtrails, on and on and on. No, do not worry about these things, folks. They are nonstarters, nothing to see here, move on. We'll let you know what to worry about. Stay tuned for further updates.

The things that our common sense tells us are worrisome are not sanctioned by the agenda to be worries. They are merely distractions and not worthy of our attention. Everyone around us is telling us they are conspiracies, denied science, or planted in the world by kooks and enemies of the state. If you think about them or point them out to others you are looking for darkness and ruining everyone else's fun.

'Round and 'round the mulberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel. Guess who the weasel is?

And to top all of this malarky off, we have a general, new-agey, propensity to ignore the dark side and see only the light. "Positive thinking," they say. And if, God forbid, you are one of those people (like me, apparently) who is "always looking for shit" then you, and everyone around you, are doomed to wallow in it. In fact, not only will it fill your life, but you will be responsible for ruining the world for everyone else as well. That is how metaphysics works, right? We create our own reality, but some of us, the dark ones among us, create everyone else's reality as well. That sucks.

According to the settlement, ABC News will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a "Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff, as Presidents of the United States of America have established in the past." Suchir Balaji, 26, claimed the company broke copyright law.

A former OpenAI researcher known for whistleblowing the blockbuster artificial intelligence company facing a swell of lawsuits over its business model has died, authorities confirmed this week.

Suchir Balaji, 26, was found dead inside his Buchanan Street apartment on Nov. 26, San Francisco police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said. Police had been called to the Lower Haight residence at about 1 p.m. that day, after receiving a call asking officers to check on his well-being, a police spokesperson said.

The medical examiner's office determined the manner of death to be suicide and police officials this week said there is "currently, no evidence of foul play."

Information he held was expected to play a key part in lawsuits against the San Francisco-based company.

Flipped Sheep
© Off-Guardian
I used to believe that the only way we were going to get out of this mess was to flip sheep (apologies to those offended by my continued use of the word "sheep" — old habits die hard). Meaning that if we got everyone, or mostly everyone, to see what truly was going on, then we could stop the insanity.

In other words, if everyone woke up there would be no more compliance, no more believing in the lies, no more falling into the agenda's traps.

Now I am not so sure.

It seems now that the only way this insanity will work its way out is either by a direct act of God or if we are willing to wait 1,000 years or so when it works out on its own. Maybe we just need to face Armageddon, let it happen, and try to live the best life we can before and while it's happening. I don't mean "give up," I mean to still fight but focus the fight on things other than trying to flip sheep.

I know I've said this before, but now I am refining this idea a bit. Although I do believe once we know something, we can't unknow it — meaning we can't force ourselves into a state of denial and pretend all is rosy as the sheep tend to do (now that they've got Trump to feel dismal about, maybe they won't be all rosy, but for the wrong reasons). But maybe we should stop focusing on it so much and try to get back to the basics of joyous living. Did I really just say that? No, of course not.

I have found myself envying the sheep. I recently had a friend on FB question something I had posted (a comment actually on someone's meme about chemtrails). She had said she simply did not understand what was being said negatively about natural contrails that jets innocently leave behind. I turned her on to a James Corbett video interviewing Peter Kirby about chemtrails.

She responded with the usual disbelief — "how could people be doing this without anyone knowing — purposefully poisoning the earth and all of the people on it?"

I didn't push it and just said, "You seem to be enjoying your life, keep doing that and don't let this cat out of the bag. Let it go." It was the first time I did something like that, and it felt right. I had the opportunity to possibly flip a sheep, and I didn't take it. I believe, however, that this "letting go" only applies to sheep. Whereas before, I wanted sheep to learn the truth about the world, now I am not so anxious to be the one to wreck their day.

They will figure it out soon enough.

Preserving culture: Moscow bans migrant children from school unless proficient in Russian

russian elementary school children
Children at a Russian elementary school
Russia's Duma passed a bill yesterday banning children who are not proficient in Russian from attending school. The law takes aim at migrant children, who must now pass a Russian language proficiency exam.

The State Duma, which passed the bill 409-1, is the lower house of Russia's Federal Assembly.

Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin also clarified that migrant children will have their legal status in the country checked, that is, if they are living in the country legally.

The upper house of Russia's parliament, the Federation Council, is expected to pass the bill as well, with it set to come into force in April 2025 after President Vladimir Putin signs it into law.

Comment: Amnesty International clearly has no idea (or wilfully ignoring?) what disruptions a large population of foreign attendees (they're not even really students) ignorant of the local language and laws can produce.
