The myth about the Yazidis on that Iraq Mountain?

Is it at all possible that we're being sold an emotionally compelling story to justify U.S. military intervention in Iraq?

No one wants to see anyone suffer, Yazidi or otherwise. What we do want is to know the truth about what is going on in Iraq even as Obama continues airstrikes, and prepares to send in 130 more American troops.

U.S. officials said they believed that some type of ground force would be necessary to secure the passage of the stranded members of the Yazidi group. The military is drawing up plans for consideration by President Obama that could include American ground troops.

So a couple of questions here.

Long before U.S. airstrikes, the defenseless Yazidi people climbed up that mountain for refuge from ISIS, who supposedly wanted to slaughter them. Why didn't ISIS just also climb up and then slaughter them? We know ISIS had mortars and actual artillery, because the U.S. later bombed those. Why didn't ISIS use those weapons to slaughter the Yazidis from afar?

Also, after one or two airstrikes, ISIS became so easy to defeat that the Kurds made it possible for 24,000 Yazidis to walk off the mountain, walk into Syria and then U-turn walk back into Iraq and settle in safely. It begs the question about how surrounded by determined ISIS fighters that mountain really was. It takes a long time for 24,000 people to do anything, and they'd need to be walking a long way during which time they would be vulnerable to ISIS. How could ISIS go from being such a threat that U.S. airpower was essential, to be pushed aside by Kurds who otherwise were having their hats handed to them by ISIS everywhere else?

Comment: According to this article, the whole thing was indeed a pretext to justify a military intervention.
It turns out there were Yazidis already living on the top of the mountain, and while there were some refugees who fled up there, the humanitarian crisis was never what it was made out to be, and an influx of Kurdish PKK fighters from Syria quickly broke the overblown siege.

The administration just seems grateful that they got an excuse to start a war they've been chomping at the bit for, and even if the excuse didn't exactly pan out, they'll quickly find another.
Other sources say that the Yazidis were saved by the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party), a group which the US placed on a terrorist list.
The Yazidis headed for the hills. Some were stranded without food and water. It was certainly a nasty refugee situation and they needed help. When the US finally got on the mountain, they had to admit, "Uh...the situation is not as bad as we thought." That's because the PKK had already saved them. Western media say "Kurdish militias" saved them, because, remember? The Kurds are our new BFFs.

"Russia is not going to allow Ukraine to become a NATO nation or to fall into the hand of extreme anti-Russians," said James Fetzer, an editor at Veterans Today.

"Russia has lots of cards to play in relation to the pressures from the European nations for more sanctions, including its control of very large proportion of gas that is supplied to those nations," the retired professor from Wisconsin told Press TV on Monday.

The European Union is seeking to impose further sanction on Moscow over the crisis.

The author also noted that the United States has "grossly violated" the sovereignty of Ukraine and other Eastern European nations, helping to "destabilize" and install a "puppet regime" in Kiev.

"The United States has invested some $5 billion to bring about destabilization in the Ukraine," Fetzer said.

Flag waving Americans want to believe that their government is on the right side of history. Especially in the realm of foreign policy, the myth that the United States saved the world from despotic tyrants, popularly reflected in the victor's account of post World War II, is the accepted viewpoint. Hidden from public education is that the New World Order was the actual winner. The specific inception of the globalist forces that originated the sub rosa directions behind formable institutions and governments dates well back over centuries. However, the modern technocratic era allows for the dramatic acceleration of a one-world system imposition, which was never possible in previous times.

Loyal citizens of the old republic want to trust that the State Department, commissioned to serve as the guardian and protector of the country, is conducting foreign policy in the best interests of the nation. There is a reason why the Secretary of State is third in line to succeed the President. That purpose, intended to defend diplomatically and promote the public safety and benefit, has served a very different master for a very long time.

Senator Arthur H. Vandenberg's notorious adage, "politics stops at the water's edge", by no means ever really practiced by the political class a true national defense of the country because it was never the primary goal of the establishment.

An excerpt published in the Wall Street Journal, Henry Kissinger on the Assembly of a New World Order, spews the same poppycock that underpins the destructive policies and practices that has the world ripe for an apocalyptic conflict, needed to rescue the banksters of international finance from their derivative Ponzi scheme.

The remnants of the cold war linger with concerns of the true motives and goals of a second Vladimir Putin era. By most reliable accounts, he never left the power circle prior to his return as President. Upon his latest election, The Guardian published an article Putin's election victory is a headache for the west. "Nobody is any doubt that the Putin who returns to the Kremlin in May is the same Putin who has effectively run Russia for the past 12 years - prickly, uncompromising, suspicious and fond of snide remarks about western hypocrisy and double standards."

The context for any serious discussion on foreign affairs must start with the admission that the New World Order is the dominant controller of political power, especially in western countries. The NeoCon/NeoLib cabal dictates worldwide compliance. Nations conform to the financial supremacy of banksters, administered by handpicked political stooges. EU 'shoots itself in the foot' by blocking South Stream gas pipeline project

The attempts by the European Commission to delay the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline are motivated strictly for political reasons, Gazprom's spokesman has said.

"So far, the EU seems ready to shoot itself in the foot by blocking a project that will increase its energy security and help Europe satisfy increasing energy import needs, at no cost to European taxpayers," Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov wrote in a letter to the Financial Times (FT).

It comes as a response to an article by the FT's Energy Editor Guy Chazan published on August 25, where he called the South Stream project "a pipe dream," saying the project "has become one of the biggest casualties of the east-west stand-off over Ukraine."

Kupriyanov says South Stream was designed to put an end to the over-reliance on the Ukrainian gas transit system, adding that countries in south-eastern Europe "probably have at least as many reasons as Gazprom to be 'desperate' to reduce transit risks."

Contrary to northern EU customers, who receive gas supplies from Russia via Nord Stream, south-eastern European countries still have to rely on the Ukrainian transit system.


Comment: It seems that EU pays no attention to the future of south-eastern Europe. No wonder then why people of south-eastern Europe feel like second class citizens.

Economic sanctions mutually imposed by Western countries and Russia will have an impact on Kazakhstan, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said on Tuesday, addressing the parliament.
"The new session of the parliament opens under uneasy conditions. Unpredictability remains in the world's economy, and geopolitical risks become deeper, including in connection with complicated international relations over Ukraine," the president said.
States producing 60% of the world's GNP use sanctions against each other. It will lead to serious changes in established international economic relations and lower economic growth. This will influence Kazakhstan as well, he said.

The Kazakh president urged to take measures to prevent possible negative challenges for the country's economy, people's welfare and national security and called for coordinated work of the parliament and the government to use opening opportunities.

Islamic State beheads second American journalist

A new video has been posted on the internet purported to show Islamic State militants beheading American journalist Steven Sotloff.

The Associated Press and the SITE Intel Group, an organization that tracks the online activity of terrorist groups, both reported on Tuesday that the Islamic State has posted a video of the execution barely two weeks after the group formerly known as ISIS published a similar clip of American photojournalist James Foley suffering the same fate.

"I'm back, Obama, and I'm back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State," a masked militant believed to be the same who executed Foley addresses the president in the latest video.

Kneeling in an orange jump suit, Sotloff is seen in the clip reading a statement to the president as Foley did before him.

"Obama, your foreign policy of intervention in Iraq was supposed to be for preservation of American lives and interests, so why is it that I am paying the price of your interference with my life?" Sotloff asks.

"As your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike necks of your people," the masked man says before killing Sotloff. Another captured civilian - David Cawthorne Haines of the UK - will be the next murdered unless "this evil alliance of America against the Islamic State" ends, militants warn in the video.

A live interview on RT's 'In the Now' program took a turn for the unexpected on Tuesday when a senior executive from Ukraine Today used the appearance to troll the host instead of discussing the network's new media project.

RT political correspondent and 'In the Now' host Anissa Naouai planned to discuss Ukraine Today with the network's executive producer, Tetiana Pushnova, but the segment lasted only moments before turning into a farce.
