Russia will deploy robots and bomb disposal experts to help Syria defuse bombs left behind by ISIS

Palmyra
Russia says it will deploy bomb disposal experts and technology into Syria in the next few days to help defuse explosives in the city of Palmyra, which was recently recaptured by the Syrian government from Islamic State.

The support given by the Russians will include engineers and robots, which will be used to defuse numerous bombs and booby traps, which were left by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants after they were defeated.

These experts from the International Mine Action Centre of the Russian Armed Forces will be sent to Syria at the request of the Syrian government. They are to arrive at the Khmeimim airbase in the very near future, according to Sergey Kuralenko, head of the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria.

The announcement was made by the head of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, who also mentioned that following a decision taken by President Vladimir Putin, Russian forces will be involved in the removal of mines in the area.

"Yesterday, thanks to the support of the Russian Air Force and our special operations, Palmyra, a key cultural center, was freed from terrorists. The liberation of this city has a strategic importance in the fight against terrorism in Syria," Gerasimov stated.

The Saudi/Western connection to the spread of terrorism in Europe

Voices have been increasingly raised in Belgium against Saudi Arabia and the spreading of Wahhabi and Salafist ideology in Europe, French journalist and founder of Agora Erasmus political organization Karel Vereycken told Sputnik, commenting on the recent Islamists' terror attacks in Brussels. On Tuesday, March 22, a series of explosions struck the city of Brussels, Belgium; the infamous Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Commenting on the deadly Brussels assaults, the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization (ICSR) underscored that "compared to other Western countries, Belgium is particularly vulnerable to jihadist terrorism."

"First, the country has an especially longstanding and well-organized network of radical Islamist recruiters. Second, its police and intelligence agencies lack the resources to counter the surge in jihadist recruiting over the last five years," the ICSR reportedThursday, adding that "an estimated 500 Belgian nationals have travelled to Syria or Iraq with the intention of joining militant groups."

In general, the country has Europe's highest known per capita participation rate in Islamist groups, like Daesh and al-Qaeda.

"Increasingly, voices have been raised against Saudi Arabia and the spreading of Wahhabi fundamentalism through the Saudi-run Great mosque of Brussels and the Centre Islamique de Belgique (CIB) of Molenbeek, where many young criminals were recruited for making the trip to Syria," French journalist and founder of Agora Erasmus, the Belgian LaRouche movement, Karel Vereycken told Sputnik.

Comment: For a fledgling pathocracy like ISIS to take root, there are some necessary ingredients. Saudi Wahhabism provided the ideology. But without Western sponsorship, this backward barbarism probably would not have spread very far.

The implications of Turkey's not so secret genocide against the Kurds

While the Kurds have been absolutely instrumental to opposing terror in both Iraq and Syria, offering military relief and crucial geostrategic expertise, Erdogan's Turkey - a NATO ally - has waged a brutal crackdown against the ethnic group.

Needless to say that Turkish President Erdogan's alleged counter-terror goals have paled in comparison to his imperious need to prevent the rise of the Kurds as a potent sovereign power, one whose ambitions would lead to the loss of considerable swathes of land in Turkey's southern region.

An imperialist in presidential clothing, Erdogan will never concede to the creation of a Kurdistan if it implies losing one inch of what he believes to be Turkey's territorial birth right.

To preserve the territorial integrity of his mini-Ottoman kingdom, Erdogan has already proven just how far he is willing to go - never mind the blood and war abominations.

In a fashion reminiscent of the Armenian genocide - a genocide Turkey has always categorically refused to acknowledge on account it would tarnish its history and claims of political sanctity against its neighbours - Ankara's actions against the Kurds are enough to nauseate the most hardened of neocons.

Russian MoD: Over 50 Al-Nusra terrorists crossed Turkish border to fight in Syria

Al-Nusra militant groups in Syria have received reinforcement with over 50 militants and three vehicles loaded with ammunition supplies that reportedly crossed the border "from the territory of Turkey," a Russian defense ministry statement said, citing local witnesses.

The reinforcements have arrived to Anadan city near Aleppo, the information bulletin from the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, published by Russian Defense Ministry on Monday, said. The statement cited witness reports made by local residents.

The report added that Al-Nusra militants have continued their provocations in the north-west region of Aleppo. Terrorist groups tried to launch an offensive on Kurdish militia in the Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood, but after some one and a half hours of fighting, they retreated to previously held positions.

Brazil latest target of U.S. exceptionalism's hybrid war

Color revolutions would never be enough; Exceptionalistan is always on the lookout for major strategic upgrades capable of ensuring perpetual Empire of Chaos hegemony

The ideological matrix and the modus operandi of color revolutions by now are a matter of public domain. Not so much the concept of Unconventional War (UW).

UW was spelled out by the 2010 Special Forces Unconventional Warfare manual. Here's the money quote:
"The intent of US [Unconventional Warfare] UW efforts is to exploit a hostile power's political, military, economic, and psychological vulnerabilities by developing and sustaining resistance forces to accomplish US strategic objectives... For the foreseeable future, US forces will predominantly engage in irregular warfare (IW) operations."
"Hostile" powers are meant not only in a military sense; any state that dares to defy any significant plank of the Washington-centric world "order" - from Sudan to Argentina - may be branded "hostile".

The dangerous liaisons between color revolutions and UW have now fully blossomed as Hybrid War; a warped case of Flowers of Evil. A color revolution is nothing but the first stage of what will become Hybrid War. And Hybrid War can be interpreted essentially as the weaponization of chaos theory - an absolute conceptual darling of the US military ("politics is the continuation of war by linguistic means"). My 2014 book Empire of Chaos essentially tracks its myriad manifestations.

Castro lectures Obama after Cuba trip: Cuba "has no need of gifts"

Fidel Castro
© Associated PressFidel Castro ripped into the president, bringing up Obama's relative youth.
President Barack Obama did not meet with Fidel Castro during his historic visit to Cuba last week, but apparently that does not mean that Castro did not have any thoughts about el presidente norteamericano in his country.

Castro ripped into the president and his words during the visit in El Granma, the official state newspaper of the Cuban Communist Party, bringing up Obama's relative youth, the failed Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 and the role of both countries in ending the apartheid in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent in an article titled "El hermano Obama."
"Native populations do not exist at all in the minds of Obama," Castro wrote. "Nor does he say that racial discrimination was swept away by the Revolution; that retirement and salary of all Cubans were enacted by this before Mr. Barack Obama was 10 years old."
Referring to the 1961 failed invasion of the Bay of Pigs, Castro wrote of the U.S.' "mercenary force with cannons and armored infantry, equipped with aircraft ... trained and accompanied by warships and aircraft carriers in the U.S. raiding our country. Nothing can justify this premeditated attack that cost our country hundreds of killed and wounded."

Putin appoints Kadyrov to stay on as Head of Chechen Republic

Vladimir Putin has appointed Ramzan Kadyrov acting head of the Chechen Republic and said that he personally hoped that voters would do justice to their incumbent leader at the September elections.

Speaking with Kadyrov during a meeting in Moscow on Friday, the Russian president said: "As you have just said, your powers will expire on the 5th [of April]. Because of what you have done for Chechens, for the residents of the republic and for Russia as a whole, today I signed the order appointing you acting head of the Chechen Republic with subsequent participation in the elections, I hope."

"I count that the residents of Chechnya, the Chechen people, would value all that you have done for the republic during these elections. But I would like to reiterate one thing - we cannot be content with what has been done, we must always look into the future. We know that we can and we must do more for our people," Putin said.

Ramzan Kadyrov first became the head of the Chechen Republic on March 2, 2007. He was reappointed to the post four years later, and his tenure was due to expire on April 5 this year. With this latest appointment, he will remain at the helm until he is re-elected or replaced by the winner of new polls that are scheduled for September 18.

Comment: It's easy to see why Putin would want a man like Kadyrov to stay as Head of the Chechen Republic. He is a proven leader and man of solid good sense. Humble enough too, to be willing to step aside when he felt his usefulness to his country had come to an end. It's clear Putin feels otherwise.

Damascus: Russia's support crucial to Palmyra's liberation

The Syrian government troops' operation to liberate the ancient town of Palmyra, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, would have been impossible without Russia's support, an informed source in Damascus told TASS over the phone on Sunday.

The Syrian media reported early on Sunday morning that the government troops had liberated Palmyra located 215 km (133.5 miles) from Damascus and started mine-clearing in the streets of the town.

The famous ancient ruins have remained in Palmyra, which is called the pearl of the Syrian Desert. They are on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage list. The source confirmed that the Syrian government troops had established control of the historical part of Palmyra."I'm personally grateful to Russia for that," he said.

Killary's record is a monument to mendacity

With most of the media focus during the US primaries on Donald Trump and his statements and views, less attention has been paid to Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton, even though her record reveals that she is far more dangerous.

A measure of the extent to which ISIS is being defeated on the ground in Syria is the most recent terrorist attack in Brussels, evidence of the organization's desperation to strike back anywhere and in any way it can.

It is for this reason that further terrorist atrocities across Europe are almost guaranteed to be a matter of when, not if; especially in light of the recently leaked French Interior Ministry report which estimates there may be up to 90 suicide bombers at large across the EU, either planning or awaiting the order to mount an attack.

It bears emphasizing that the defeat of ISIS at the hands of a reinvigorated and confident Syrian Arab Army and its allies is being won in spite of the West's role in the conflict rather than because of it.

Prior to Russia's military intervention at the end of September last year, Syria appeared a country headed for the abyss. Despite the extraordinary tenacity and resilience of the Syrian people and the country's armed forces, they were struggling to hold the line on multiple fronts against an enemy that was benefiting from an open border and clear supply lines between Syria and Turkey.

8 reasons why folks want the US diplomat Madeleine Albright in the Hague. Why stop with her?

Madeleine Albright war crimes
© Jim Watson/Agence France-PresseFormer Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
The 40 year sentence slapped on Radovan Karadžić for war crimes by a Hague court this week prompted many to ask, what about former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright?
The former Bosnian Serb leader still maintains that Albright and her former colleague Richard Holbrooke offered him a deal to flee if he agreed to 'keep a low profile', although both Americans deny these claims.

Comment: For all the current hue and cry about Albright, why are the bigger names not being mentioned? Kissinger, Bushes Sr. and Jr., Netanyahu and every one of his predecessors, the Clintons, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Obama, Blair, Cameron, Erdogan and the entire House of Saud are but a few more names to add to an almost endless list of those who should be on trial for perpetuating the world's miseries.
