America takes when it gives: There is always a profitable payoff or strategic goal driving U.S. 'aid'

USAid, US NGO
I was in first grade the first time I recall hearing how America was sending aid to millions overseas. The year was 1962, at the time we only had 3 TV stations to watch, that is if one lived in a big town. Over half a century later the truth of American giving casts a dark and ominous shadow over our heritage. Here is a short story my countrymen need to hear, but one which few will enjoy reading.

My Dad was in the US Navy in World War II. A PT boat commander, he returned to America's shores from the South Pacific to take up life where he had left off after graduating college. Like most of his contemporaries, Albert E. Butler truly believed his sacrifices had defeated a great evil. He also believed in the America we've all been taught to believe in, the one where the dream of peace and freedom is not just possible, but an eventuality. Later in his life, my father began writing a book about politics, geo-strategy, and the causation for most of the world's ills. He never finished the work; an epic work entitled "One Nation Under Two Flags". I mention it here, because we have been a nation ruled by two masters. One, our own immutable sense of equality and potential, it has driven us to paramount achievements and noble sacrifices. While the other "master" has deceived us, manipulated us, and soiled the name of the United States of America like a dirty dish rag. I think many reading this will agree, this betrayal is not simply onerous, it is unforgivable. Chief among the mistruths we've been told, is the real nature of our good heartedness and charity, our giving of ourselves and what we have - only so that wealthy elitists can do what they always do - take advantage. If you are like I am, you will be incensed to know, the devastation and death that has come about in the name of goodness. The fact is, anytime the United States or her allies invest in giving aid, there is a profitable payoff of strategic goal behind.

Comment: While U.S. 'humanitarian aid' is used as a subterfuge for destabilizing nations, Russia actively assists people rebuild their lives and countries.

Russia is the target of a multi-faceted, asymmetric campaign of destabilization that has employed economic, political, and psychological forms of warfare — each of which has been specifically designed to inflict maximum damage on the Kremlin.

This article is part of a series on Western meddling to foment unrest and destabilize BRICS nations in an effort to ensure the continuation of Western economic and political control over the Global South. The first two parts, focusing on Brazil and South Africa, can be found here and here. Up next: Part II on the assault on Russia, which focuses on the political, psychological and military aspects that run in tandem with the economic war on Moscow.

The U.S.-NATO Empire, with its centers of power in Washington, on Wall Street, and in the city of London, is on the offensive against the BRICS countries. This assault takes many forms, each tailored to its specific target.

The ongoing soft coup in Brazil has recently entered a new stage with the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff of the left-wing Workers' Party. Simultaneously, the destabilization of the ANC-led government in South Africa continues as political forces align to remove President Jacob Zuma. These two situations illustrate clearly the very potent forms of subversion via Western-funded political formations and movements being employed against Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the bloc of emerging economies also known as BRICS.

However, when it comes to a country as large as Russia, with its vast military capabilities, consolidated and wildly popular political leadership, and growing antagonism toward the West, the tools available to the Empire to undermine and destabilize are in some ways more limited. Indeed, in the context of Russia, the popular mobilization pretext does not apply, and so that weapon in the imperial arsenal is blunted considerably. But there are other, equally potent (and equally dangerous) methods to achieve the desired effect.

Russia is the target of a multi-faceted, asymmetric campaign of destabilization that has employed economic, political, and psychological forms of warfare, each of which has been specifically designed to inflict maximum damage on the Kremlin. While the results of this multi-pronged assault have been mixed, and their ultimate effect being the subject of much debate, Moscow is, without a doubt, ground zero in a global assault against the BRICS nations.

Comment: The take-down of Russia depends on long-term/far-reaching strategies that involve unexpected moves, multiple layering of seemingly unconnected maneuvers, trusted co-conspirators in several - even unrelated - sectors, effective propaganda, deceit and lies. Subversion is never a straight line, nor is it ever completely discovered and the dots connected until the damage has been done and new chess moves have been set in motion.

Is Putin up to the task? So far, it appears so.

SOTT Focus: Saudis complicit in 9/11 attacks (unless they kowtow to USA and get Russia)

Saudis 9/11
Now they're with us... Now they're against us!
Remember September 11th, 2001? Every man woman and true-blue child in the USA was up in arms. The outrage! The audacity! This is war! Who dunnit?! The American people were shocked, traumatized, and needed to chill and think things through, but their government had a better idea: ride the deliberately manufactured tidal wave of emotion over to the Middle East, with the US military in tow, to get the one man responsible: Osama bin Laden. Sure!

A few hastily-cobbled-together intelligence reports and a few weeks of mass news coverage later, and the whole nation was, predictably, baying for the blood of not just Osama, but all those sand-nigger, camel-jockeying, towel-head t'rrists, wherever they might be! (Or wherever the government claims they might be.) I mean, how DARE they! This is AY-MURIKA!

So where was he, this Osamy? His home country of Saudi Arabia? No! He was hiding out in Afghanistan with the Taliban! The very same Taliban that the US funded and armed in the 80s to keep the Soviets out. But, make no mistake, it was pure coincidence that the 9/11 attacks were once again leading to direct US involvement in the geopolitically strategic nation of Afghanistan, and for exactly the same reason. We'll have none of your 'conspiracy theories' here!

Twenty civilians in Iraq and Syria have been reported as dead as a result of airstrikes targeting ISIS fighters between September 10 and February 2, according to a release by US Central Command.

In a Friday press release, US Central Command announced that the deaths resulted from separate Coalition airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, and expressed its "deepest sympathies for the victims' families and those affected."

Comment: The US has little if any regard for civilians being needlessly killed due to their airstrikes. They're considered nothing more than "collateral damage." Meanwhile Russia goes to extremes to avoid civilian casualties and is painted by the US as "an aggressor nation," which obviously makes no sense - it's a lie.

The Pentagon has spent $7 billion on its fight against Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq, since starting operations. Having conducted over 11,000 strikes, the Pentagon chief is mulling a new strategy with greater number of US troops and expenditures.

"As of March 31, 2016, the total cost of operations related to ISIL [also spelled as ISIS] since kinetic operations started on August 8, 2014, is $7 billion and the average daily cost is $11.6 million for 602 days of operations," the Department of Defense said in a recently released special report.

In nearly two years of its "Operation Inherent Resolve," US Central Command targeted 22,779 enemy positons, including oil infrastructures and strategic areas, according to the Pentagon statistics as of March 17.

As of April, the US-led coalition has conducted 7,794 strikes in Iraq and another 3,745 in Syria. Of a total 11,539 strikes, over 8,800 were flown by US aircraft, the Department's report stressed.

Comment: How Much Has The Syrian Civil War Cost Russia And The US?
...
At the lower end of $3 million a day, Russia's involvement has thus far cost the Kremlin approximately $498 million, with higher-end estimates at $664 million, relatively low figures when compared with Russia's defense budget of approximately $50 billion.

The U.S. has spent approximately $11.5 million a day in its fight against the Islamic State group since the start of Operation Inherent Resolve in August 2014. Despite Russia's lower spending, the Kremlin managed to change the dynamic in the nearly five-year conflict by propping up longtime ally Syrian President Bashar Assad.

For years she has successfully campaigned in favor of passing BDS resolutions within the NUS.

She has given many speeches encouraging students to back BDS and observe its guidelines within their campuses - especially the boycott of Israeli academic institutions complicit in abuses of Palestinian rights.

After serving as the Black students' officer, Bouattia will be the first Black Muslim woman elected president in the 94 years of NUS history.

A UK-based magazine has offered a prize to the author of the most offensive poem about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is suing a German comedian over a satirical verse.

The Spectator is offering £1,000, donated by a reader.

It comes after Germany opened the door for a comedian to potentially be prosecuted over a TV broadcast.

Jan Boehmermann had recited a satirical poem on the TV channel ZDF which made sexual references to President Erdogan.

Mr Boehmermann is now under police protection and Angela Merkel's government has approved a criminal inquiry, under a little-used law concerning insults against foreign heads of state.

Landmark ruling: Victims of CIA torture can sue 'interrogation program' psychologists

Suleiman Abdullah Salim

A court ruling will allow CIA torture victims to sue two psychologists who designed and operated the agency's brutal interrogation program.

US District Court Judge Justin Quackenbush ruled Friday that Tanzanian Suleiman Abdullah Salim, Libyan Mohamed Ahmed Ben Soud, and the family of deceased Afghani Gul Rahman have the right to hold individuals accountable for the CIA program that led to their abuse.

Rahman died in CIA custody in 2002 from hypothermia, dehydration and exposure. His family have never been officially notified of his death and have yet to receive his remains.

James Elmer Mitchell and John "Bruce" Jessen, two CIA-contracted psychologists, are being sued under the Alien Tort Statute for "their commission of torture, cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment; non-consensual human experimentation; and war crimes".
