Syria chemical weapons attack red flags and false flags

Syria sarin gas
There are too many red flags about the chemical weapons attack in northern Syria to believe the official version of events that immediately assigned guilt to the Assad government.

Each of the red flags, on the other hand, strongly suggests that the incident was (yet another) false flag operation perpetrated by the terrorists with a view to destroying the peace process and prolonging the war.

A key consideration would be Cui bono?

Ukrainian interview: Georgian mercenary announces Kiev's preparation for "Operation Storm"

It's the latest confirmation that in the Donbass on the Kiev side the largest number of mercenaries represent Georgia.** At the same time, it turns out that the Georgian mercenaries are literally pushing the Ukrainian army toward action.

Thus, in an interview with the Ukrainian news portal Obozrevatel, the self-proclaimed commander of the Georgian National Legion, Shota Kedelashvili spoke of "preparing the forces for the beginning of the operation." According to some reports, the planned operation is called "Storm" and involves the breakthrough of the contact line in several sectors.

According to Kedelashvili, "the operation is designed to clear the territory of Donbass from Russian invaders."

The Georgian mercenary had nothing to say about why the Ukrainian security forces, trying to "clean the Donbass of the occupiers," still actively bombard and continue to shell the peaceful neighborhoods of the cities of the Donetsk Peoples Repubic and the Lugansk Peoples Republic.

Why Donald Trump is unlikely to attack Syria

The debate about the Syrian chemical attack yesterday and President Trump's comments during a news conference with the King of Jordan have led to speculation that the US might be readying an attack on Syria.

The speculation stems from the fact that Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN, said that if the UN Security Council fails to take action over the chemical attack the US might consider taking "unilateral action", whilst President Trump himself made comments during the news conference that appeared to have the military option open.

Whilst in any international issue the possibility of unilateral military action by the US can never unfortunately be completely ruled out, on balance neither Nikki Haley's comment nor President Trump's comment seem to presage military action.

Three Russian National Guard servicemen were shot at from a moving vehicle at a checkpoint on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported. One of the attackers was killed on the spot.

Police cordoned off the entire district of the city where the attack took place, with no vehicles allowed in or out. A special operation was launched. Local investigators have confirmed that the attackers were identified as suspects in the fatal April 4 shooting.

Norwegian army forgot how to army: New Norwegian defense leaves country defenseless, embarrassing report finds

The Norwegian army can only defend an area of about 600 square kilometers, which corresponds to a single medium-size Norwegian municipality (out of 426), a new army report has found to the embarrassment of the Norwegian Defense Ministry.

Last year, Norway adopted a new long-term defense plan for the army and the home guard. A new report by Brigadier Aril Brandvik has identified crucial drawbacks in the defense plan, which in effect leaves the Nordic country virtually defenseless. According to the Brandvik report, which was made public by the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, the Norwegian Armed Forces were found to be suffering from low combat readiness and lacking "real battle force" against a technically sophisticated opponent.

With the exception of the Telemark battalion (with around 470 soldiers), intelligence battalion and special forces, the Norwegian Army was found to lack units that are ready for battle within a few hours. With only one brigade, and with weak range of anti-aircraft and artillery, the Norwegian Armed Forces was found to be able to defend an area corresponding to a middle-size Norwegian municipality with an area of 600 square kilometers, such as Rissa, Vardø and Førde — compared to the country's total area of 385,000 square kilometers. The highly limited impact force made it thus difficult to defend Norway from potential aggression until the arrival of allies. However, the report also found vulnerabilities in encrypted communication, also with allies, especially over long distances.

Not everyone in the Land of Milk and Honey eats, well, milk or honey. To that end, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are adding combat rations totally free of animal products as an option for their soldiers who have gone vegan.

An estimate 50,000 IDF soldiers will be fed by the vegan rations, which consist of "hummus and tahini, beans in tomato sauce, cocoa spread, halva, green olives, peas and canned fruit," Lieutenant Colonel Donna Steinfield with the IDF's Technology and Logistics Division told Jerusalem Online.

"Our goal is to take care of each soldier's personal needs." Steinfeld also said that a large number of soldiers had requested the program.

Comment: Actually, this is a pretty good idea, because it means those vegan soldiers will be less capable of terrorizing Palestinians.

'Terrorists flee when they hear us coming': Syria's ISIS hunters guarding Palmyra

Self-organized militias are playing a key role in fighting the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group both in Iraq and Syria. RT accompanied one such group to see how they train to take on the world's most notorious jihadists.Calling themselves ISIS hunters, this Syrian militia came to prominence during the operation to retake the city of Palmyra earlier this year. Islamic State had seized the opportunity to seize it in late 2016 as most of the Syrian army was engaged elsewhere and Palmyra was relatively unprotected.

"Over a month ago we helped liberate Palmyra and its surroundings from IS militants. Now we are protecting this area and will not allow a single jihadist return," one of the militia's fighters told RT. "Some parts of our unit are still on the frontline," another said, adding "our unit instills fear in the terrorists. They run away when they hear that our fighters are coming."

Ron Paul: Syrian Chemical Attack 'Makes No Sense'

Ron Paul claimed on Wednesday's broadcast of "The Liberty Report" that all signs point toward Tuesday's chemical attack in Syria being a false flag operation.

"Before this episode of possible gas exposure and who did what, things were going along reasonably well for the conditions," the former Texas congressman stated. "Trump said let the Syrians decide who should run their country, and peace talks were making out, and Al Qaeda and ISIS were on the run."

"It looks like, maybe, somebody didn't like that so there had to be an episode, and the blame now is we can't let that happen because it looks like it might benefit Assad."

"It's not so easy though is it? What happened four years ago in 2013, you know, this whole thing about crossing the red line?" he posed. "Ever since then, the neocons have been yelling and screaming, a part of the administration has been yelling and screaming about Assad using poison gas."

A Labour Party committee upheld the charges leveled at Ken Livingstone for his comments about the links between Hitler and Zionism last year, but did not expel the former mayor of London from its ranks. The time-limited sanction has provoked outrage from Jewish groups.

Following two days of legal and historical deliberations behind closed doors, the National Constitutional Committee found the 71-year-old, who had been suspended from the party since April 2016, guilty of three counts of conduct that is "prejudicial or... grossly detrimental to the party." Livingstone, who says that has no plans to return to frontline politics, is barred from holding any position in the party, or running as a Labour candidate until April 2018.

Lebanese media publishes Hamas' new political charter

The Lebanese al-Mayadeen news channel published on Monday a leaked new charter for the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. The charter was allegedly planned to be officially released by Khalid Mashaal, the president of the political office of Hamas, at his last press conference before leaving office. The leak has since been confirmed by Hamas official Ahmad Yousif.

Toufic Haddad, the author of the book Palestine Ltd: Neoliberalism and National Liberation in the Occupied Territory, offered his analysis of the document and said it illustrates the movement's maturation as a major domestic political actor. Haddad pointed out that it responds to broader regional and international trends of sectarianism and the "war on terror" by repeatedly emphasizing Islam and Hamas' tolerance, moderation and opposition to all forms of oppression, including making a clear distinction between Zionism and Judaism, a distinction that has been noted elsewhere.

Mondoweiss obtained the details of the charter released by al-Mayadeen and translated the full text. This translation was provided by a resident of Aida refugee camp who would rather not have their name published out of fear of reprisals from Israeli authorities.
