Mikheil Saakashvili, a misfortunate politician of Georgian origin who has been recently seeking to restore his Ukrainian citizenship, was ordered to leave a train heading from the Polish city Przemysl to Lviv in Ukraine.

Mikheil Saakashvili, the former Georgian president and former governor of Ukraine's Odessa region, was asked to leave a train headed to the Ukrainian capital Kiev via Lviv, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Sunday.

"There is an individual in our train who has no right to enter Ukraine's territory. The train will not move until the individual leaves the train," it was announced in the carriages via loudspeakers in the Polish city of Przemysl.

Before boarding the train, the politician told reporters at the station he was going to return to Ukraine to restore his rights as a Ukrainian citizen.

Moscow 'astonished' by Berlin's 'baseless' remarks of 100,000 troops in Zapad 2017

The Russian Ministry of Defense rebuked the German defense minister for saying the upcoming Zapad 2017 exercises are little more than a show of force by Moscow involving vast numbers of troops, calling her comments bewildering.

On Thursday, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen claimed that the upcoming drills would involve over 100,000 troops on the eastern periphery of NATO, showing a "demonstration of capabilities and power of the Russians."

"Anyone who doubts that only has to look at the high numbers of participating forces in the Zapad exercise: more than one hundred thousand," von der Leyen said at an EU defense conference in Tallinn.

Her remarks were seized upon by Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov, who said it was strange that the Germans would come up with such a figure, particularly considering that they had been told of the plans for the drills in advance.

"We are astonished by statement made by Ms. von der Leyen, the Germany's Federal Minister of Defense, publicly handling baseless figures that allegedly 100 thousand Russian troops engaged in the Zapad 2017 and threaten Europe," Konashenkov told reporters on Saturday.

"The German side has timely received and does have comprehensive information of the concept, defensive nature and true figure of the Russian troops engaged in the Zapad 2017 exercise," the major-general said in the statement.

'Akin to barbarity': Moscow furious over monument demolition of Red Army soldiers in Poland

Russia has expressed its outrage at the bulldozing of a mausoleum housing the remains of dozens of Soviet soldiers who fell battling to free Poland from Nazi German occupation, calling the move an act of vandalism that violates bilateral agreements.

It took less than 20 minutes for the Polish authorities to raze the monument, built by the Red Army in 1945 in the Polish town of Trzcianka in memory of 56 Soviet soldiers who gave their lives on the battlefield.

Video of the demolition posted by Adam Bogrycewicz shows heavy machinery being used to demolish the war memorial.

Responding to what it described as a sacrilegious "act of vandalism," Russia's Foreign Ministry said that the demolition is "unacceptable in terms of existing inter-state and inter-governmental documents" relating to the preservation of the memory and burial sites of victims of war and repression, adding that the Polish government "was fully aware" of Moscow's staunch objection to the removal.

"We consider this outrageous incident an illustration and direct consequence of the Polish government's anti-Russian policy in the memorial field among others," the ministry said in a statement on Saturday, adding that lack of respect to "the memory of the war and its heroes" displayed by Poland is "akin to barbarity."

Russia's request: US warplanes will not shadow Daesh convoy

Following a request by the Kremlin, US military assets have stopped shadowing a Daesh convoy stuck behind lines of advancing Syrian army troops.

Syrian army troops covering ground in the desert province of Deir ez-Zour in the country's eastern territories have now outflanked a Daesh convoy that has been stationary for almost ten days, after US jets bombed the roadway and bridges ahead, preventing its escape to regions in Iraq still controlled by the rapidly-dwindling armed extremist faction.

The US-led coalition against Daesh quickly agreed to a request by Russian forces in the region to stop surveillance on the convoy, streamlining efforts between Russian- and US-backed forces to defeat the extremists, according to a report from the Guardian.

A convoy of an estimated 17 buses containing Daesh militants and their families has dwindled to 11, after six vehicles abruptly returned to their starting points as Syrian army troops close in. Food and water has been supplied by the Syrian army to those stranded in the face-off in the middle of the desert.

There have been reports of individual fighters escaping the convoy under cover of darkness, even as the noose tightens around the remaining fugitives. An estimated 85 Daesh fighters have been killed attempting to escape from the convoy, according to a US spokesperson. US military statements assert that no attacks on the convoy have been made in light of the presence of women and children, cited by Stripes.com.

Comment: Few and far between, an example of US actually cooperating with Russian and Syrian forces.

Polish minister: EU leaders attempting to 'erase' Poland's WWII drama from Europe's historical memory

Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz has accused European leaders who are critical of Poland's reparations claims, of attempts to "erase" the tragic fate of the Polish people during WWII from the "memory of Europe."

"Sulejow, destroyed villages and cities, the Polish nation, have the right to the truth of how the defense of Europe and European values looked in 1939, and who really defended them. And who destroyed them," Macierewicz said during a visit to the town of Sulejow, located in central Poland, as it marked the 78th anniversary of being heavily bombarded by the German Luftwaffe at the start of WWII.

He went on to say that he wanted to remind Merkel, Macron and others who are willing to "erase the drama of Poland and the Poles from the historical memory of Europe," AP reports.

The minister then recalled the millions of Poles killed and the near total destruction of Polish cities, including Sulejow and Warsaw, adding that those communities now have the right to financial compensation from Germany.

Philippine military: ISIS luring recruits with 'bundles of money'

The Philippine military says that Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) linked militants besieging the southern city of Marawi may be using cash to lure new recruits into joining the insurgency.

As fighting in the so-called "Islamic city" on the island of Mindanao nears its fourth month, Colonel Romeo Brawner of the Joint Task Force Marawi has said that the seizure of a "bundle of money" from an individual who was attempting to enter the war zone backs up reports that the Maute militants are paying fighters to join their ranks.

"We have received several reports about people being paid in cash to join the Maute terrorist group and also to support them in kind," Brawner told Philippine channel ABS-CBN. "For instance, some are being paid for their boats... Their boats are rented so that they can bring in reinforcements," he added.

Time for a seismic shift in politics: Trump dumps the do-nothing Congress

Donald Trump is president today because he was seen as a doer not a talker. Among the most common compliments paid him in 2016 was, "At least he gets things done!"

And it was exasperation with a dithering GOP Congress, which had failed to enact his or its own agenda, that caused Trump to pull the job of raising the debt ceiling away from Republican contractors Ryan & McConnell, and give it to Pelosi & Schumer.

Hard to fault Trump. Over seven months, Congress showed itself incapable of repealing Obamacare, though the GOP promised this as its first priority in three successive elections.

Returning to D.C. after five weeks vacation, with zero legislation enacted, Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were facing a deadline to raise the debt ceiling and fund the government.

Failure to do so would crash the markets, imperil the U.S. bond rating, and make America look like a deadbeat republic.

Families and businesses do this annually. Yet, every year, it seems, Congress goes up to the precipice of national default before authorizing the borrowing to pay the bills Congress itself has run up.

Comment: Could Trump be accommodating a 'different presidency' with Democrats?

Best of the Web: Retired US Air Force Lieut Col. Karen Kwiatkowski on Alleged US Rescue of ISIS Field Commanders: 'We Are Rescuing Our Allies'

Daesh Syria
© lickr/ Day Donaldson
A source has told Sputnik that US Air Force aircraft had evacuated a group of nearly two dozen Daesh (ISIS) field commanders and militants from Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria last month. Retired US Air Force Lieut Col. Karen Kwiatkowski says this is standard operating procedure for CIA black ops looking to cover their trail after an operation.

On Thursday, a military and diplomatic source told Sputnik that USAF helicopters had evacuated 22 Daesh field commanders and militants from areas outside the city of Deir ez-Zor in late August, amid a successful operation by Syrian government forces to free the area from terrorist control. The militants were reportedly taken to northern Syria. The US-led coalition's press office told Sputnik that the allegations were "false."

Asked to comment, Karen Kwiatkowski, a retired US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel turned anti-neoconservative activist, told Sputnik that these evacuees were likely people that the US military and intelligence establishment wanted to protect, "particularly people with evidence that could be used against the US [during] negotiations."

Comment: This is another one of the ways in which Trump is bound by the Deep State; to go public, acknowledge and respond to these allegations would mean that he'd be proclaiming war on a group of individuals capable of "heart-attacking" him in retaliation. And to do and say nothing is to give tacit permission for the CIA to continue its criminal dirty work - and ultimately betray the promise he made to the millions of US citizens who put their faith in him.

Imagine being a well intentioned leader faced with such a dilemma.

Facebook blames Russia to deflect attention from their fraudulent ad sales

Facebook Kampf gegen Fake News
A typically political and business strategy to lessen public attention of an evolving scandal is to launch a diversion campaign. A well designed counter campaign makes sensational claims about an unrelated issue. It is intended to take the media attention away from the real issue. Any decent public relation department will have several "canned" campaigns ready to launch on a moment's notice.

Yesterday a new report proved (again) that Facebook cheats with its advertisement reach data. This explains why advertisements booked on Facebook have much less impact than Facebook claims and the paying customers assume.

Comment: The Gateway Pundit reports that Zuckerberg has given Mueller more ammo for his witch hunt against Trump and his associates:
Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election has taken yet another strange turn. This time, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has transferred data on ads "likely" purchased by Russian entities.

Whatever that means. [...]

The news comes as former Trump campaign aides are saying things do not look good for Paul Manafort in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. Associates believe Manafort may go down for an array of financial crimes.
