Joe Quinn on Radio Sputnik: The US is Afraid of Losing its Influence to Russia

Joe Quinn

It was reported that the FBI had questioned former Sputnik employee Andrew Feinberg. The interrogation was part of the investigation of reports that Sputnik allegedly acted as a Russian propaganda agency in violation of the US Foreign Agents Act.

Commenting on reports, RT and Sputnik editor-in-chief claimed there were no doubts that Russia would respond to the FBI investigation in the same way. Kremlin spokesperson - Dmitry Peskov - said that the probe into Sputnik indicated serious censorship problems in the United States. Earlier, a bill was submitted to the US House of Representatives to amend requirements for registration of foreign agents under the Foreign Agents Act.

Off the wall: WH denies Dem's claim Trump agreed to DACA deal excluding wall funding

Two senior Democratic Party leaders claim President Donald Trump agreed to a deal that would protect young immigrants from deportation without funding for the border wall. However, that deal seems to have already hit a brick wall.

On Wednesday, Trump invited Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California) to a "working dinner" at the White House. According to Schumer and Pelosi, they had a "very productive meeting," where they discussed crafting legislation that would protect immigrants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

After the meeting, Schumer and Pelosi released a joint statement that said Trump agreed to "enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides. We also urged the President to make permanent the cost-sharing reduction payments, and those discussions will continue," Schumer and Pelosi continued.

However, shortly after Democrats issued their statement, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders pushed back, tweeting that "while DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to."

Comment: Once again, the truth leaves Democrats 'spinning.'

Flashback 'Reverse-ace' McCain lost five U.S. Navy aircraft

mcain
Editor's note: momat44 was part of a CNN initiative to have citizens contribute items of news and commentary during the 2008 election campaign.

Navy pilot John Sidney McCain III should have never been allowed to graduate from the U.S. Navy flight school. He was a below average student and a lousy pilot. Had his father and grandfather not been famous four star U.S. Navy admirals, McCain III would have never been allowed in the cockpit of a military aircraft.

During his relative short stint on flight status, McCain III lost five U.S. Navy aircraft, four in accidents and one in combat. #1 McCain III lost jet number one in 1958 when he plunged into Corpus Christi Bay while practicing landings. He was knocked unconscious by the impact coming to as the plane settled to the bottom.

Teflon Don is confounding Democratic opponents

Trump
President Donald Trump is still viewed as an outsider shaking up the system, which people in various surveys say they like.
Democrats have attacked the president every which way, but polling and focus groups show none of it's working

Democrats tried attacking Donald Trump as unfit for the presidency. They've made the case that he's ineffective, pointing to his failure to sign a single major piece of legislation into law after eight months in the job. They've argued that Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself and that his campaign was in cahoots with Russia.

None of it is working.

Data from a range of focus groups and internal polls in swing states paint a difficult picture for the Democratic Party heading into the 2018 midterms and 2020 presidential election. It suggests that Democrats are naive if they believe Trump's historically low approval numbers mean a landslide is coming. The party is defending 10 Senate seats in states that Trump won and needs to flip 24 House seats to take control of that chamber.

The research, conducted by private firms and for Democratic campaign arms, is rarely made public but was described to POLITICO in interviews with a dozen top operatives who've been analyzing the results coming in.

"If that's the attitude that's driving the Democratic Party, we're going to drive right into the ocean," said Anson Kaye, a strategist at media firm GMMB who worked on the Obama and Clinton campaigns and is in conversations with potential clients for next year.

Israel officially supports the creation of a Kurdish state

Here are the 3 possible outcomes of the public announcement by Israel's leader.

For decades, Israel has had significant links to Kurdish groups throughout the Middle East. Long before President Erdogan led what in many ways amounts to a counter-revolution in Turkish politics, Israel's support of Kurdish separatist movements throughout the region, was often a sore point between Ankara and Tel Aviv, who apart from this issue, tended to have relations which ranged from good to very good.

Israel however, has now come out overtly supporting the creation of a Kurdish state, although it is not clear where Israeli leaders think such a state should be. Ostensibly however, Israel is speaking about a would-be Kurdish entity in the legitimate territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. This would make the most sense given the context of the statement as well as Israel's known frustration at the fact that Syria and her allies have all but won the war against Salafist terrorists.

Speaking to reporters, Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel "supports the legitimate efforts of the Kurdish people to achieve their own state".

During the same speech, Netanyahu also said that he still considers the PKK (Kurdish Workers Party) which operates in Turkey, to be a terrorist group. The motivation behind such a statement is clear enough, Turkey is the only country with a significant Kurdish population with which Israel has formal relations.

The timing of Netanyahu's announcement, something he has hinted at in private and semi-private meetings in the past, is in many ways, more significant than the statement itself, which simply affirms a widely known fact of Tel Aviv's geo-strategic goals.

Ron Paul: The US police state was planned, 9/11 just 'provided an opportunity' for its implementation

Patriot Act, US Police State
9/11 was used as justification for passing the PATRIOT Act, but as Ron Paul noted, the extensive bill was written many years before the attacks occurred.
Sept. 11, 2001, is remembered for a number of reasons, and one of the most important, which often goes unnoticed, is that it was used as an excuse to degrade the liberties of Americans through the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act.

The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act was signed into law by President George W. Bush on Oct. 26, 2001-just 45 days after 9/11. The act passed in the Senate with a vote of 98-1, and it passed in the House with a vote of 357-66.

Former Texas Congressman Ron Paul was one of the few who voted against the act when he was in the House of Representatives, and he has been speaking out against it ever since. Paul is also known for his presidential campaigns, and when he was seeking the Republican nomination in the 2012 election, he reminded the world of one of the most crucial aspects of the PATRIOT Act.

"The PATRIOT Act was written many, many years before 9/11," Paul said during a speech in Ames, Iowa, in December 2011. He noted that the attacks simply provided "an opportunity for some people to do what they wanted to do."

Comment: Not only was the Patriot Act planned well in advance but the 9/11 attacks were carefully orchestrated by those who needed to publicly justify the resulting wars of terror to maintain US global dominance.

Never forget: The U.S. government has a long and known history of using false flags to achieve its imperial ambitions

Wicked Witch Hillary Clinton: I wanted to make Voodoo dolls of reporters, lawmakers and stick them with pins

Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton was so frustrated about the infamous scandal surrounding her use of a private email server that she was "tempted" to construct voodoo dolls in the images of "certain members" of the news media and Congress, and then "stick them full of pins."

So Clinton wrote in her 494-page new memoir, What Happened, which was released today.

In the book, Clinton complained that the "attacks" against her use of the private email server "were untrue or wildly overstated, and motivated by partisan politics."

DHS waives more environmental laws to expedite border wall construction in California

The US Department of Homeland Security has waived another set of environmental laws that would impede construction of President Donald Trump's proposed wall along the US-Mexico border, this time specifically near Calexico, California.

On Tuesday, DHS issued a waiver to bypass some environmental laws in order to "ensure the expeditious construction of barriers and roads" along the US border near Calexico, California.

The waiver will allow DHS to bypass certain federal laws, regulations and other legal requirements in order to speed up construction along a three-mile segment of the border, which stretches west from the Calexico West port of entry. The project also involves the department replacing two miles of the existing fence along the border with a new bollard wall.

'Go Congress, go!': Trump pushes lawmakers on 'greatest tax reduction in the history'

© Jonathan Ernst / Reuters
US President Donald Trump has urged the Republican-majority Congress to pass legislation that would substantially cut taxes, hoping to get support from the minority Democrats. Republicans have traditionally favored the measure.

"With Irma and Harvey devastation, tax cuts and tax reform is needed more than ever before. Go Congress, go!" Trump tweeted Wednesday morning, referring to the hurricanes that devastated Florida and Texas. He added that "the approval process for the biggest tax cut and tax reform package in the history of our country will soon begin."

Last week, just after he negotiated a deal with Democratic Congressional leaders to raise America's debt ceiling along with helping victims of natural disasters, Trump headed to North Dakota to push for tax cuts in a campaign-style speech.

Russia is preparing to send more than 4,000 tons of materials and over 40 pieces of construction equipment to Syria to help the war-torn country in its multibillion-dollar reconstruction effort.

The shipment of industrial aid that is currently being readied for dispatch will consist of "more than 40 units of construction equipment," such as bulldozers, excavators and cranes, Russia's Defense Ministry said. In addition, the country will receive "over 2 thousand tons of metal pipes" that would be used to restore water infrastructure as well as "hundreds of kilometers of high-voltage and fiber-optic cables" to restore electricity and communications lines.

The construction material, which will be shipped from the port of Novorossiysk, will be used to restore "critical infrastructure" to those areas that have been recently freed from terrorist fighters, the Defense Ministry said, adding that hospitals and schools remain the priority.
