Documents reveal how George Soros controls prosecutors

The Soros network 'remains in the driver seat' after getting prosecutors elected, according to the Media Research Center

George Soros and his son, Alex, have spent at least $117 million since 2016 to reshape America's justice system. They've been successful: three in 10 Americans now live under a Soros prosecutor.

But the Soroses' influence doesn't end on Election Day. After Soros-backed prosecutors take office, the family's apparatus tells them what to do, documents show.

The Media Research Center obtained nearly 8,000 pages of internal documents through public records laws that show how a Soros-funded group called Fair and Just Prosecution (FJP) "directed Soros prosecutors to manipulate the rule of law concerning illegal immigration, drugs, abortion, election integrity, capital punishment and laws against childhood sex changes."

US offering Maduro 'amnesty' - WSJ

American officials have offered to drop "narco-terrorism" charges against Nicolas Maduro if the Venezuelan president transfers power to his political opponents, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

Maduro defeated Western-backed opposition figure Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia by 51.2% to 44.2% in a presidential election last month, securing himself a third term in office. Gonzalez's supporters, however, claim that the vote was rigged, and the US officially recognized Gonzalez as Venezuela's president-elect earlier this month.

According to the Wall Street Journal's sources, Washington is now attempting to persuade Maduro to cede power to Gonzalez. In secret talks with confidants of Maduro, the White House has offered to pardon the Venezuelan president and his allies, who are currently wanted in the US on drug charges.

Comment: They will pardon him for something he's innocent of doing. What a great deal!

American officials are also trying to enlist Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia - whose leftist governments are seen as sympathetic to Caracas - to convince Maduro to accept the deal, the newspaper reported. Meanwhile, Gonzalez's allies have also offered security guarantees to Maduro if he were to step down.

Biden admits he was pressured out of race

US President Joe Biden has admitted that his fellow Democrats convinced him that he would "hurt them" by staying in the race for the White House. He also identified former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a key figure who influenced his decision to quit.

Biden suspended his reelection campaign in late July, almost a month after a televised debate with former President Donald Trump exposed his apparent cognitive decline. In the weeks between the debate and his withdrawal, Biden was urged by liberal pundits, Democratic lawmakers, and party donors to end his campaign, as polls showed the 81-year-old incumbent losing ground to Trump.

"The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, it would have been down to the wire, and what happened was a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and the Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races," Biden told CBS News on Sunday, in his first interview since ending his campaign.

"And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you'd be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say - why did...and I thought it'd be a real distraction," he added.

Anyone not supporting Ukraine gets shot - Serbian deputy PM

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is risking his life by refusing to back Western nations on the Ukraine conflict, a senior member of his government has claimed.

Serbia, which is traditionally friendly towards Russia, has declined to impose sanctions on Moscow or support the policies of the US and Kiev's other backers. Brussels, in turn, has insisted that Belgrade's aspiration to join the EU will not be realized unless it changes course.

In an interview with Russia's RIA Novosti published on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that Serbian authorities are concerned about the president's safety, following attempts on the lives of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and former US President Donald Trump.

"After the attempt on Mr. Fico, and later Trump, I told Vucic to be on guard," Vulin said, "that's because something happens to everyone calling for a peaceful resolution on Ukraine, they get shot at."

Prosecutors say Romanian businessman hired Hunter Biden to seek U.S. policy influence

Prosecutors in the U.S. criminal tax case against Hunter Biden accused him of accepting payments from a Romanian businessman who sought to "influence U.S. government agencies" in connection with a criminal probe in Romania.

Comment: The Romanian businessman simply saw how things went between Hunter and Burisma in Ukraine and figured he could get in on the action too.

The U.S. Department of Justice made the allegation in a Wednesday filing in Los Angeles federal court, where U.S. President Joe Biden's son faces a scheduled Sept. 9 trial over tax evasion charges. He has pleaded not guilty.

ABC said the claim stems from Hunter Biden's work for Gabriel Popoviciu, a wealthy Romanian identified as "G.P." in the filing, and who prosecutors say hired Hunter Biden for legal work in late 2015 when Joe Biden was U.S. vice president.

Reuters could not independently verify that "G.P." is Popoviciu.

Lawyers for Hunter Biden did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Prosecutors did not immediately respond to similar requests. The White House declined to comment. Popoviciu could not immediately be located outside business hours.

SOTT Focus: Tens of Thousands Killed and Millions in Need of Aid and Displaced: What's going on in Sudan?

Since April 2023, clashes between the Sudan military Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary force Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have led to many deaths, chaos and instability in the country.

According to the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), as of April 2024, more than 8.6 million people have been forced from their homes in Sudan and more than 24 million Sudanese people are in need of humanitarian aid.

A UN report from earlier this year stated that up to 15,000 people were killed last year in El Geneina, the capital of the Sudanese state of West Darfur. In one of the most recent attacks by the RSF, more than 100 civilians were killed in a village in Sudan's Gezira state on June 6th, 2024. The situation is dire. What's going on?

Fyodor Lukyanov: Could Iran and Israel drift into a full-scale war?

razor wire

The two rivals' jabs at each other are rapidly increasing in both number and intensity.

The situation in the Middle East, where the aspirations of Iran and Israel have once again collided, is paradoxical in that there is no way out. Both sides would like to put a stop to the other's gallop, but this is impossible without disastrous consequences for themselves. There are many reasons for this situation, including the geographical compactness of the region, where any action echoes loudly and boomerangs erratically. More importantly, all the problems and relationships are so intertwined that to untangle them would require a colossal effort that no one is capable of. Theoretically, the cord could be cut with a powerful game-changing blow, but nobody has the wherewithal.

This last statement may seem a bit controversial. Israel is pursuing an extremely aggressive policy of reshaping its entire security landscape, hoping to contain the surrounding threats for a long time to come. Iran, on the other hand, is generally seen as an actively revisionist power, managing the regional landscape sometimes directly, but especially through the use of partner groups (a sort of 'Axis of Resistance') in various countries. The assumption that a decisive battle is likely should be supported by the fact that the entire region is already in turmoil and external powers, including the traditionally dominant US, are merely feigning active involvement rather than knowing exactly what they want. Thus, it's surely high time for the plucky and the determined to make the leap to a new status. But what new status?

Comment: To answer the title question...of course they could. But 'drifting' into serious confrontation assumes there is little thought or planning in the process. At least one side appears to think before it acts and reacts.

Hunter Biden was paid in US 'influence' plot - prosecutors

The US president's son accepted money from a Romanian businessman facing corruption charges, according to prosecutors.

Federal prosecutors in the criminal tax case against Hunter Biden have accused him of accepting payments from a Romanian businessman who allegedly sought to "influence US government agencies."

According to a filing made by the Justice Department on Wednesday in a Los Angeles federal court, a Romanian national hired Biden for legal work in 2015. His father Joe Biden was vice-president under then-President Barack Obama at the time.

The filing reportedly did not name the Romanian businessman but only identified him by his initials as "G.P."

US media outlets have identified him as Gabriel Popoviciu, who was facing corruption charges in Romania at the time. The businessman was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2017 after being convicted of real-estate fraud. He denied any wrongdoing.

In the Wednesday filing, prosecutors said they had evidence that Hunter Biden and an associate had "received compensation from a foreign principal who was attempting to influence US policy and public opinion" and to end the local investigation against him in Romania. According to prosecutors, Biden and his associate "were concerned that lobbying work might cause political ramifications for the defendant's father" Joe Biden and acted to cover up the "true nature" of the work.

Hunter Biden and two associates split over $3 million in payments from Popoviciu, prosecutors say.

Comment: Hunter Biden is a 'first-time offender'. Seriously...it said that. But wait...there's more:
The US Department of Justice has filed nine new charges against Hunter Biden, including failure to file and pay taxes, tax evasion, and filing a false return. The authorities claim that the president's son had been using the money to lead an "extravagant lifestyle."

In September, the 53-year-old became the first child of a serving US head of state to have criminal charges brought against him. That case revolves around allegations that Biden lied about his drug use when purchasing a firearm. He has also previously faced misdemeanor tax-related charges.

On Thursday, the Department of Justice and US Attorney David Weiss, who is a special counsel leading a long-running investigation into the president's son, released a statement, saying a federal grand jury in the Central District of California had returned the indictment charging Hunter Biden with three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax offenses.

According to the court document, the president's son
"engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019," spending "millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills." That supposedly included "drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, and other items of a personal nature, including over $70,000 on drug rehabilitation."
The press release pointed out that Hunter Biden had "earned handsomely" while serving on the boards of Ukrainian industrial conglomerate Burisma, as well as a Chinese company, CEFC China Energy Co Ltd. The authorities believe that, between 2016 and October 2020, Biden raked in more than $7 million in total gross income, meaning that he had "access to funds to pay some or all of these taxes."

The document revealed that the president's son could face a maximum of 17 years behind bars, if found guilty on all counts.

The White House has declined to comment on Thursday's indictment, while Hunter Biden's defense attorney Abbe Lowell claimed that the charges against his client were politically motivated. He suggested that Weiss, who was nominated as a US attorney by President Donald Trump back in 2017, "bowed to Republican pressure."

Dozens killed in Israeli airstrike on school

West Jerusalem claims that the facility was being used by Hamas as a military headquarters.

Dozens of people have been killed and many more injured in an Israeli airstrike on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza City, the Palestinian authorities have said. The attack on the Tabeen school in the central part of the city took place on Saturday morning and was confirmed by both officials in Gaza and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

There are conflicting reports so far about the number of casualties. Al Jazeera said, citing Gaza's government media office, that more than 100 people have been killed and dozens more injured in the bombing. Not all of the bodies have been recovered so far, it added.

AP provided information from the Gaza Health Ministry's ambulance and emergency service, which put the death toll at 60, with 47 others wounded. The outlet described the incident as "one of the deadliest strikes" in the ten months of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas.

Gaza's government media office said in a statement:
"The number of casualties was so high because IDF warplanes bombed the displaced people [at the school] while they were performing the dawn prayer. We hold the Israeli occupation and the American administration fully responsible for this massacre. The strike comes within the framework of the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people."

Comment: Moscow's reaction to airstrike on Gaza school:
The Israeli military should refrain from attacks on civilian infrastructure in Gaza, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday, adding that the Russian authorities are deeply shaken by the latest airstrike conducted by West Jerusalem. They expect the death toll to rise, as some people have not been pulled from the rubble yet.

Zakharova expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, stressing that tragedies like this undermine international efforts to deescalate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to achieve a ceasefire along with a prisoner exchange.
"We are calling on Israel to refrain from attacks on civilian targets. We believe there is no and can be no justification for such actions."
According to a statement by Hamas, Israel's claims that the school was used as a command center are "excuses to target civilians, schools, hospitals, and refugee tents, all of which are false pretexts and expose lies to justify its crimes."

Best of the Web: Israel's opposition leader Gantz and Foreign Affairs magazine warn country at risk of 'civil war'

Israeli Channel 14 reported on his statements, indicating that he expressed his thoughts during a public ceremony held Monday commemorating the so-called "destruction of the Temple."
Israeli Knesset member and opposition leader Benny Gantz has warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not "sacrifice his government to protect Israelis," or do what is necessary to prevent civil war.

The former member of the Israeli war cabinet stressed that if Israelis "do not come to our senses, there will be a civil war here... It is forbidden to hide the truth."

According to him, there is a "leadership that divides the people and poisons the well from which everyone drinks."

Israeli Channel 14 reported on his statements, indicating that he expressed his thoughts during a public ceremony held Monday commemorating the so-called "destruction of the Temple."

Comment: One of the more revealing points that has since become clear, is that Israel isn't at risk of serious civil unrest because of a split between pro and anti-genocide supporters, on the contrary, the vast majority support the crimes against humanity. And this is foreboding for Israel, because it seems that a society that founded on such principles will inevitably ruin itself.

There are various signs that this slow implosion has already begun, in Israel's government, its military, and civilian society. Notably, Israel's allies are suffering similar crises.

This is allegedly what some in the axis of resistance are counting on, and it's why they're not being provoked into taking any unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, it's this undeniable trajectory that is also likely to compel those running Israel into ever more diabolical behaviour:
