Newly-examined emails among high-ranking U.S. intel officials at the time-including then-Director James Comey and his chief of staff James Rybicki -- reference a "sensitive matter team."

Based on the context of the emails, the "sensitive matter" appears to be the Trump-Russia narrative, and political opposition research funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The research -- known as the "Steele dossier" -- was peddled to the press and secretly used, in part, to justify controversial FBI wiretaps against at least one Trump associate.

The emails were first obtained by the Justice Department Inspector General and recently turned over to the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) wrote a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray Monday asking for the identity of all members of the "sensitive matter team."

North Korea has dismantled its nuclear test site at Punggye-ri, according to RT's Igor Zhdanov, who is part of a journalist pool that witnessed the event.

According to Zhdanov, the journalists were shown three of four tunnels used for nuclear tests at the site. One of them, the northern tunnel, had been used extensively for recent nuclear testing, he said.

The North Koreans explained that the two other tunnels were new and would have likely been used for tests in the near future. Demolishing the tunnels, Zhdanov said, "was a real way of showing how they are ready to make real concessions."

He said the explosions used to destroy the tunnels were "impressive," describing them as "small eruptions of earth and rock." All infrastructure at the site - including barracks and security checkpoints - were destroyed by the blasts, Zhdanov reports.

Scandalous Media Bias: There have been two major ongoing investigations involving President Trump. One is looking into whether Trump colluded with Russia. It's borne no fruit. The other involves abuse of power at the highest levels of government to hurt Trump and is producing damning evidence by the bushel. Guess which one the press is ignoring?

National Review reporter John Fund relates an interesting story. He was waiting to go on the air and struck up a conversation with another prominent reporter in the network's green room.

Why, he asked, aren't reporters actively investigating the suspicious activities at the Justice Department and the FBI regarding the Trump/Russia and Hillary/email investigations?

Fund says the reporter "bluntly told me 'There's only room for one narrative on all this. And it's all about Trump.' "

Breaking news is just off the wires at the BBC.

It appears the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, was willing to go the extra mile to ensure he would appear to be a close ally of Donald Trump in public last year:
Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, received a secret payment of at least $400,000 (£300,000) to fix talks between the Ukrainian president and President Trump, according to sources in Kiev close to those involved.

The payment was arranged by intermediaries acting for Ukraine's leader, Petro Poroshenko, the sources said, though Mr Cohen was not registered as a representative of Ukraine as required by US law.

Mr Cohen denies the allegation.

The meeting at the White House was last June. Shortly after the Ukrainian president returned home, his country's anti-corruption agency stopped its investigation into Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.
Trump's deletion of any reference to "Russian aggression" in Ukraine from the GOP party platform in 2016, along with Trump's expressed wish to repair relations wth Russia, plus real or perceived "pro-Russian" ties of many top Trump advisers (Paul Manafort, Michael Page), all doubtless left Poroshenko highly alarmed that his Kiev regime was losing clout.

Comment: Poroshenko's office called the BBC report a "blatant lie". Surprisingly, they didn't blame Russia.

Exceptional nation: Israel warns Syria not to defend itself against Israeli jets violating Syrian airspace

A senior Israeli Air Force officer has said that his country's military aircraft will continue to operate in Syrian airspace for as long as is deemed necessary.

"We're not doing this because we're aggressive, but because we constantly have to be actively defending the state of Israel," the senior officer said, speaking to reporters on condition of anonymity on Wednesday.

"This is the only thing preventing offensive measures by Iran," he added.


Comment: If only Orwell were still around today. He'd have a field day with Israeli double-talk.


The officer also warned Syria not to use its air defenses against Israeli warplanes. "All batteries that fire on Israeli aircraft will be destroyed. All batteries that do not fire on us will not be destroyed," he said, noting that "this policy will continue."

Comment: Imagine if this were Russia warning the U.S. not to retaliate when Russian jets fly into American airspace and regularly target U.S. military targets with missiles, often killing American servicemen. Of course, Russia does no such thing, because it would be a blatant act of war condemned by the entire world. But when Israel does it? No problem. And the Israelis and their apologists have no scruples about claiming that Israel is unfairly held to a higher moral standard than every other nation. Cry us a river.

There are still many unanswered questions, but the evidence that now is part of the public record removes any doubt that British and US Intelligence services collaborated in a devious and fabricated scheme to portray the Trump campaign as intent on collaborating with Russia. The evidence was planted and cleverly fabricated. It was done through highly classified intelligence channels, which created a paper trail and provided prima facie "evidence" that individuals with tenuous ties to the Trump campaign were seeking meetings with Russian officials. What was not reported, however, was the fact that the original impetus for those reporting on those communications originated with an individual who appears to be an MI-6 intelligence asset. His name is Joseph Mifsud and I believe that evidence ultimately will establish that he was directed to contact and then feed incriminating information to George Papadopoulos. That information became the foundation of creating a counter intelligence investigation of Donald Trump and his campaign.

Comment: Mifsud and Steele weren't the only assets involved in this operation. There was another spy with ties to UK intelligence, this one working directly for the Trump team (and Aussie Alexander Downer, too):

The conditions of membership in the U.N. are specified in the U.N. Charter. Specifically, "Articles 5 and 6 of the Charter of the United Nations deal respectively with suspension of rights and privileges of membership, and with expulsion from the United Nations." But the operative part is Article 6, which reads:
"A Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council."
Israel certainly qualifies, but the United States Government, which is controlled by the anti-Shia and anti-Iran alliance between Israel's Government providing the anti-Iran lobbyists and propagandists, and the Saudi Government providing the anti-Iran bribe-money, won't allow that. Consequently, no matter how violative of the U.N. Charter Israel is, it cannot be expelled.

The United States Government likewise is routinely violating the U.N. Charter and cannot be expelled, because this very Government is on the U.N.'s own Security Council as one of the five permanent members: it would veto its own expulsion.

Giuseppe Conte has vowed quick reforms after being confirmed as prime minister by Italy's President Sergio Mattarella, following months of grueling talks that have put the Euroskeptic Five Star Movement-Lega coalition in charge.

"This will be the government of change," said the former law professor and lawyer at the traditional maiden speech at the Quirinal Palace in Rome, where he was summoned on Wednesday afternoon after his compromise candidacy was announced last week.

Conte, 53, said he would immediately begin implementing stricter asylum requirements and negotiate a loosening Italy's budget, away from Brussels' spending requirements, describing himself as "defense lawyer for the Italian people."

Comment: It remains to be seen how the bureaucrats in the EU and the corrupt Western establishment will react but if Greece and Hungary (and Poland and Czech Republic and basically any EU country wishing for some autonomy) are anything to go by, Italy may have a struggle up ahead:

A year has passed since the Iraqi Kurds held an illegal and unconstitutional referendum backed by Israel for the creation of a Kurdish state. Now Israel might officially supply aid thanks to a piece of legislation that has been submitted to the Israeli parliament.

Israeli parliamentarians have held discussions on ways to help Kurds build their own state in Syria, Iraq and Turkey. According to one of Israel's radio stations, the legislation in question was submitted to the Knesset by two Israeli right-wing parties, Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu. The radio quoted Yoav Kish as saying that backing the Kurdish minorities living in these countries (all of which are extremely hostile to Israel) now might be directly in the hands of the Israeli state.

"There is a reason why Israel was the first to publicly congratulate the "independence" of the Kurds in northern Iraq," Kish added.

Israel, which has conducted several air raids in neighboring Syria, now brags it is the first country to use the US-made F-35 in combat to "attack" targets in the Middle East. It did not specify the targets.

"We are flying the F-35 all over the Middle East. It had become part of our operational capabilities," Israel Air Force Commander Major-General Amikam Norkin said at the AF Senior Air Force Conference in Herzilya on Tuesday.

Norkin further stated that "We are the first to attack using the F-35 in the Middle East and have already attacked twice on different fronts." The Israeli Air Force chief, however, left out the part about which targets were actually hit by the jets, though Tel Aviv recently launched a massive attack inside war-ravaged neighbor Syria. It has also been blamed for a number of similar attacks, though weaker in scale. This has only fueled tensions in the region, triggering a fierce reaction from Damascus.
