Trump warns about souring relations with Trudeau in trade war - 'It will cost the people of Canada a lot of money'

US President Donald Trump has said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's criticism of his trade negotiation tactics following the G7 summit is "probably going to cost the people of Canada a lot of money."

Speaking during a press conference following his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore, Trump suggested Trudeau's remarks during the G7, in which he claimed that Canada "will not be pushed around" by the US, has soured the relationship between the pair.

Trump had informed the Western allies of his plans to impose new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, the European Union and Mexico. The move caused consternation among other members, leading Trudeau to promise to "move forward with retaliatory measures" in a news conference scheduled after Trump had left.

President Donald Trump is swinging back at actor Robert De Niro, who cursed him out on live TV during the Tony Awards ceremony, to a standing ovation from the New York audience.

Calling De Niro "a very Low IQ individual" Trump said the actor "received [too] many shots to the head by real boxers in movies" and might be "punch-drunk."

"Wake up Punchy!" the president tweeted on Tuesday, on his way back from a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore.

Macedonia's president has announced he will not sign an agreement which renames his country the "Republic of Northern Macedonia," despite Macedonia's prime minister previously stating such a deal had been reached with Greece.

"This damaging treaty, unique in the history of mankind, is unworthy and unacceptable for me​​​. It violates the constitution, laws, and destroys state institutions. I will not legalize this amateur political move," President Gjorge Ivanov said in a Wednesday address to the nation.

Greece has been in a dispute with Macedonia since 1991, when the latter seceded from Yugoslavia and declared its independence. Athens believes that by calling itself the Republic of Macedonia, the country is stating a territorial claim over the northern Greek province of Macedonia.

Comment: Macedonia has agreed to change its name to Northern Macedonia in order to end a decades-old row with Greece, which among other things prevented the former Yugoslav republic from joining the EU and NATO.
"Macedonia will be called the Republic of Northern Macedonia [Severna Makedonija]," Zoran Zaev, the country's prime minister, announced Tuesday. The new name will be used both domestically and internationally, with Macedonia making a relevant amendment to its Constitution, Zaev added.

Collapse of the 2015 nuclear deal will prompt Iran to reopen its second uranium enrichment facility in Fordow, the country's nuclear agency said. Last week, Tehran announced plans to resume enrichment within the scope of the deal.

"Currently the Supreme Leader has ordered that the programs be carried out within the parameters of the nuclear deal,"spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi told the Young Journalists' Club (YJC) in an interview. "And when he gives the order we will announce the programs for operating outside of the nuclear deal for reviving Fordow."

He added that new equipment would also be installed at the Natanz nuclear facility.

Comment: The European Union says the US departure from the Iran nuclear deal has had a negative effect on credibility of international agreements.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing a European parliament plenary session in Strasbourg.

Mogherini went on to underscore the EU's support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), stressing that the there was no "alternative" to it, regardless of the US withdrawal.

She added that finding solutions for banking and finance issues, is a key challenge for the EU member states.

"The most important challenge now is to find solutions for banking and finance because legitimate trade and investment needs banking partners and financial models that work," she added.

"These issues are being addressed through intensive expert consultations happening basically on the daily basis, including in Brussels and in Tehran last week, but also on the political level," she added.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spent six hours answering investigators' questions about the involvement of his cousin and top aide in alleged corruption and bribery of the government into buying German-made submarines.

Netanyahu testified about "the range of professional considerations" leading him to decide to purchase three Dolphin-class submarines and four Sa'ar 6-class corvettes from the renowned German shipbuilding company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, the PM's office said in a statement on Tuesday. The police refused to elaborate on the details of the testimony, noting that the investigation, under the supervision of the State Attorney, is ongoing.

It is the first time Netanyahu, not a suspect himself, has been questioned in the so-called 'Case 3000,' which revolves around the alleged corruption and graft in the procurement of the vessels.

An NGO, which has for decades been known as the de-facto embassy for the US in Taiwan, has opened up a flashy new office in Taipei. The move was condemned by Beijing as a blatant violation of its 'One China' policy.

The US-funded American Institute of Taiwan (AIT) unveiled its new headquarters in Taiwan's capital on Tuesday, amid growing tension between the US and China over the fate of the disputed island. The massive $256 million complex, complete with Chinese gardens, occupies 6.5 hectares and will house nearly 500 American and local employees.

The swanky facility replaces AIT's old stomping ground - a low-key military building that had housed the organization for decades.

Comment: The US isn't interested in the sovereignty of Taiwan - they're interested in producing a vassal state they can use to 'contain' China's growth and leadership in Asia.

Former US Vice President Joe Biden was confronted during a stop on his book tour in Delaware by a heckler accusing him of molesting young women.

During a talk on his new memoir, Biden had been discussing his late son Beau's feelings on the conviction of pediatrician Earl Bradley for the rape and molestation of young children. It was then that the man in the audience stood up and accused Biden himself of abusing women.

"What about the girls you molested on C-Span at the Senate swearing in?" the man shouted, according to The News Journal in Wilmington.

The man seemed to be referring to an incident in 2015 when Biden tried to kiss the awkward-looking teenage daughter of a US Senator on the head during a Congressional swearing in ceremony. The former vice president has been criticized before for letting his hands wander when around women, often touching them or rubbing their shoulders without permission.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has discussed the situation in Syria, as well as prospects of Iran deal with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in a telephone call, the official website of the Iranian president reported.

Hassan Rouhani noted that Tehran had sent its military advisers to the Arab republic at the request request of its legitimate government in order to help Damascus fight terrorism. He expressed hope that no "foreign military presence" would be needed after the terrorist threat had been eradicated.

Israel accuses Iran of sending the country's troops to Syria in order to attack it from Syrian territory. Tel Aviv has already conducted several airstrikes against Syrian bases under a pretext of Iranian Revolutionary Guards being stationed there. Tehran and Damascus deny these accusations.

Comment: Iran, Russia and Syria hold all the cards. Israel wants Iran and Hezbollah out of the south of Syria, which is fine with them, but not for free. If they stay out while Syria liberates the ISIS- and rebel-occupied area adjacent to the Golan, Israel and/or the U.S. will have to offer something, like a pull-out from al-Tanf. Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing porn star Stormy Daniels, says he is being targeted by Russia in a smear campaign, for his efforts to hold US President Donald Trump to account for an alleged affair with the porn actress.

Avenatti told the Daily Beast that the Russian government is trying to damage his reputation by planting negative stories about him in the media.

"They're doing it because they see me as a threat, a considerable threat," he told the website. "If we weren't a threat, none of this would be happening."


Comment: Get a grip, Avenatti. Just because you're getting bad press, that doesn't mean it's the Russians. But to egomaniacal, hysterical idiots like you, any bad press must be from the Russians, because who else would say anything bad about you?


The Daily Beast acknowledged that the media-savvy lawyer did not provide any "concrete proof" along with his seemingly paranoid statement. It said he claimed that some "media figures" and a "high ranking American intelligence official" had told him in confidence about the nefarious Russian plot.


Comment: Then you're either a liar, or a total idiot. Take your pick.


One of the stories allegedly being spread by the Kremlin is that Avenatti once travelled to Moscow and had sexual relations with a number of women while there. "They were trying to claim that I too had taken a trip to Moscow," he said. "I've never been to Moscow in my life. I've never traveled to Russia in my life."

US sanctions Russia for destroying ISIS - Moscow slams Washington for supporting terrorists

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry fuel supplied to Syria by Sovfracht, which has been hit by Washington's restrictive measures, was intended for Russia's aerospace forces in the country.

"Washington once again demonstrated political recklessness by sanctioning employees of the Russian company Sovfracht for supplying aviation fuel to Syria," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on Wednesday.

In addition, the ministry called the US sanctions "a new outrageous attempt to extend US national laws far beyond the borders of the United States," stressing that restrictive measures against Sovfracht are "support for terrorists," since they hit the legitimate Syrian authorities, which "carry the main burden of the struggle in the interests of security in the whole world."

The statement noted that the aviation fuel delivered by Sovfracht was intended for the Russian aerospace forces helping to fight terrorist groups on Syria's soil.

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that Washington's "intrusive desire to harm Russia instead of uniting efforts in countering terrorism could be costly for the American people, who have suffered from this evil many times."

Comment: The U.S. just can't admit that it was wrong - to do so would be to admit their criminal support for the very terror they claim to fight. It's really very simple: Russia, Syria, Iran and Hezbollah are fighting terrorists. The U.S. government has supported them for years, sanctions the Syrian government, and hates on Iran and Hezbollah. It's not difficult to see which side of the fence the U.S. sits on.
