The End of the World Frolics

"Now that our cheques are bouncing and we are starting to default on our debts, our entire civilization appears to be manifesting suicidal behavior in an effort to control the firing squad." — Luke Dodson
"Joe Biden" is feeling blue. Not a joke. In the lurid sunset of his dwindling term-in-office, the long shadow of his legacy points toward a gigantic glowing cinder where North America used to be. Such are the grievances of the outgoing president. I pass unto you and your legions of white supremacist slobs the ashtray that was once our mighty nation. Fix that! But, as Sir Mick Jagger observed some time ago: you can't always get what you want. "Joe Biden," in despair, sinks deeper into his McTeer power recliner and slips back into the bitter dream of his nemesis, a beast named Chrump.

It's such a chewy name: Chrump, a fricative fiesta! The tongue briefly presses against the alveolar ridge before releasing, then curls back, and the jaw opens slightly to form this vowel sound, the lips close to let the sound resonate nasally before releasing air. Chrump Chrump Chrump. Like, what your mouth would feel like working through a bowl of Froot Loops. So satisfying! The outgoing Party of Chaos can't stop chanting it on the cable news networks, as if trying to invoke the ancient furies, ghastly, terrifying figures with snakes for hair, dogs' heads, blood-red eyes, and bat-wings, brandishing torches and scourges to mortify their enemy.

Rand Paul: Feds refuse to hand over docs that unlock origins of COVID-19 — but Trump may change that

The federal government has been quietly sitting on a heap of documents about dangerous gain-of-function biological research — and Sen. Rand Paul says it's failing to cough them up, despite that being in the public's interest.

"What we've discovered is there's a treasure trove of information about dangerous research all collected, sitting in one spot," Paul (R-Ky.) told The Post in an exclusive interview.

He says those files could be key to unlocking exactly how COVID-19 started in Wuhan, China, and how US funds may have been involved, and he's hopeful that the new Trump administration will help.

"We're nearing the beginning of the real investigation because come January, with a friendly administration, we think we're going to get all of this information," he added.

Nationalist candidate achieves shock result in Romanian election

Calin Georgescu - a critic of NATO who opposes arming Ukraine - has surged into the lead, stunning mainstream candidates in the presidential vote.

Romanian nationalist Calin Georgescu has surprised observers by likely topping the first round of the country's presidential election, according to early results.

With nearly 100% of the ballots counted, in the early hours of Monday, Georgescu, who has gained traction for his anti-Ukraine war stance, holds 22.91% of the vote, ahead of sitting Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu with 19.19%.

Georgescu has been a vocal critic of Bucharest's role in the ongoing Ukraine conflict, arguing that NATO and the EU do not represent Romanian interests and suggesting that the war is being manipulated by US defense companies. An ultra-religious and nationalist figure, he has campaigned on reducing Romania's reliance on imports and boosting domestic food and energy production.

White House finally confirms greenlight for deep Russia strikes

ATACMS missile
Ukraine can use ATACMS to strike in the vicinity of Kursk Region, John Kirby has said

Washington on Monday officially confirmed a well-flagged policy change allowing Ukraine to strike inside Russia using US-supplied ATACMS missiles.

Numerous international officials have spoken about the change in stance over the past week. While US President Joe Biden and his administration remained silent, Kiev fired a volley of ATACMS projectiles at Russia's Bryansk Region last Monday.

"They are able to use ATACMS to defend themselves in an immediate-need basis," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters at a White House briefing on Monday.

"We did change the guidance and gave them guidance that they can use them to strike these particular types of targets," Kirby said, referring to the Ukrainian attacks "in and around Kursk."

Comment: It looks like quite a number of Western leaders didn't get the message which Putin conveyed the other day, when a new hypersonic missile was used by Russia. Some are slow learners. The Biden administration might well want to make it hard for Trump to make a peace deal. Whether that will happen is another question as there are still almost 2 months until the inauguration, a time in which a lot of things can happen.

Special Counsel Jack Smith seeks to dismiss Jan. 6 charges, appeal in classified records case against Trump

Special Counsel Jack Smith is asking a judge to drop all charges against President-elect Donald Trump stemming from Smith's investigation into the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach, Fox News Digital has learned.

Judge Tanya Chutkan will need to approve the request before the case is dismissed.

Smith also filed a motion to drop his appeal in his classified records case against Trump--a case that was tossed in July by federal Judge Aileen Cannon. Cannon ruled Smith was unlawfully appointed as special counsel.

The moves come after Smith, earlier this month after Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, signaled he would begin winding down his case against Trump. The filing went live on the Department of Justice docket on Monday afternoon.

Method or madness: Why has Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to fire long-range missiles deep inside Russia?

US President Joe Biden's authorization for Ukraine to use Western long-range missiles on 'old' Russian territory is perhaps the most serious episode of escalation in the two and a half years of the Ukraine conflict.

While the battlefield has yet to fully reflect these changes, the rhetoric has already reached unprecedented levels: Moscow immediately brandished the 'nuclear card'. Meanwhile, the conservative wing in the West accuses Biden of trying to spark World War III, while liberals seem to tentatively approve, though with uncertainty. Only one person appears completely satisfied -Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. He is behaving as if victory is assured, though in reality, there is little to celebrate.

There are real doubts about whether Biden's move will significantly impact the war's trajectory.

Even the US president's own advisers admit that what Ukraine truly needs is soldiers, not more advanced weapons systems. The "wunderwaffen" provided so far have not been particularly effective.

Trump reportedly plans to kick trans troops out of the military within days of inauguration

trump
Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order that would remove transgender service members from the military as soon as his first day in office.

The president-elect is reportedly preparing to issue an order following his inauguration on January 20 that would effectively ban trans people serving in the military — and then medically discharge the thousands of currently serving trans service members in the armed forces.

In his first term in office, Trump declared that the US would no longer "accept or allow" trans people in the military, citing "tremendous medical costs and disruption," he tweeted in 2017. The ban took effect in 2019.

President Joe Biden reversed that policy, which was the subject of several lawsuits. Now, Trump is expected to immediately rescind Biden's order and go further by ejecting currently-serving trans troops, according to The Times, citing sources familiar with the president-elect's plans.

Western imperialism has always been a cesspool of lies, but now its media flush is busted

Main Stream Media

The war between the United States-led imperialist powers and Russia that is playing out in Ukraine is not merely a proxy conflict. It is an existential showdown for the U.S. hegemonic system, benignly known as the "West".

The high stakes of this showdown explain why it has assumed such extreme geopolitical tension to the point where there are palpable fears that the conflict could escalate to a nuclear World War Three conflagration.

We have arrived at this abysmal danger in large part because the Western-controlled media have distorted and lied about the conflict to cover up the responsibility of the Western imperialist powers.

The Western media have performed as they have always done - to serve as a propaganda system to promote false claims and warped history in such a way as to enable the Western regimes to act criminally but with the cover of apparent virtue.

The United States and its imperialist partners in the NATO alliance claim that they are defending the sovereignty and democracy of Ukraine from "unprovoked aggression" by Russia. The Western media have indulged this narrative by repeating it incessantly, while strenuously omitting alternative perspectives.

Understanding the cause of the conflict is impossible if one were to rely solely on Western media for information. Because the "information" is essentially a propaganda narrative aimed at giving the U.S. and its NATO partners a license for what is otherwise their provocative military offensive on Russia's borders. Russia's deep-seated concerns about NATO's relentless expansion since the end of the Cold War - despite assurances to the contrary from former U.S. leaders - are belittled by Western media.

Republican lawmakers want to give the boot to federal employees needing 'Trump therapy'

The State Department is no place for people "devastated" by American democracy, a Republican official has said

US State Department employees who can't handle Donald Trump's presidential victory should be fired on day one of his administration, Republican lawmakers have argued. The diplomatic corps reportedly organized therapy sessions for people who are upset over the outcome of the recent election.

In a letter sent to Secretary of State Antony Blinken last week, Republican Representative Darrell Issa of California accused the department of "catering to federal employees who are personally devastated by the normal functioning of American democracy."

Comment: The NY Post adds:
In his letter to Blinken, Issa argued that the reported sessions were "disturbing" and that "nonpartisan government officials" should not be suffering a "personal meltdown over the result of a free and fair election."

While the Republican lawmaker acknowledged that the mental health of the agency's employees was important, he questioned the use of taxpayer dollars to counsel those upset about the election, demanding answers on how many sessions have been conducted, how many more are planned, and how much the sessions are costing the department.

Issa also raised fears that the sessions could call into question the willingness of some of the State Department's employees to carry out Trump's new vision for the agency.

Lebanon's Hizbullah fired heavy rocket barrages at Israel on Sunday, with Israeli media reporting that a building had been hit near Tel Aviv, after a powerful Israeli air strike killed at least 29 people in Beirut on Saturday.

Israel also struck Beirut's Hizbullah-controlled southern suburbs, where intensified bombardment over the last two weeks has coincided with signs of progress in US-led ceasefire talks.

Hizbullah, which has previously vowed to respond to attacks on Beirut by targeting Tel Aviv, said it had launched two precision missiles at military sites in Tel Aviv and nearby.
