US Marines with missile systems will be sent across the Ryukyu Islands.

The US military will set up temporary bases to deploy missile units along Japan's southern islands in the event of a Taiwan contingency, Japan's Kyodo News reported on Sunday.

The report said that under the first part of a joint US-Japan operation plan, a new Marine Corps unit designed for island hopping in the Western Pacific, known as the Marine Littoral Regiment, will be deployed with HIMARS rocket systems along the Ryukyu Islands.

The Ryukyu Islands, known as the Nansei Islands in Japan, include Okinawa and stretch south toward Taiwan. Japan's military will support the US Marine deployment along the island chain by providing logistical support, including the supply of fuel and ammunition.

New FOIA emails: NIH silenced own expert on COVID origins

notice
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hiring a new chief for their virology section. That the federal government should not be hiring anyone, especially not senior staff, during the lame-duck period is self-evident. But what is in many ways even more notable about this appointment is that it reveals that the NIH has a virology section. One certainly could not have guessed this based on the people trotted out by Anthony Fauci during the pandemic, all of whom were from outside the NIH. Curiously, there has been no interest whatsoever from the media as to why that might be, especially since, as we can now all see, the NIH has its own virology branch.

Ukraine has launched several US-supplied long-range missiles on targets in Russia's Kursk Region over past three days, the ministry said

Russia is preparing a response to Ukrainian ATACMS attacks on Kursk Region, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday. Last week, US President Joe Biden authorized Kiev to use US-supplied long-range missiles against targets deep inside Russia's internationally recognized borders.

In an official statement on Telegram, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that over the past three days, Ukraine's forces had conducted two long-range strikes on Kursk Region using Western weaponry.

Comment: This information is an indication that further escalation is likely. If last week Russia tested new weapons, we probably have not seen the last of them.

Kremlin slams 'irresponsible' Ukraine nuclear talk
An "extremist flank" of the country's Western backers has lost touch with reality, Dmitry Peskov has said

The idea of providing Ukraine with nuclear weapons comes from the "extremist flank" of Kiev's Western backers, who have lost touch with reality, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

The New York Times reported last week that EU and American officials have suggested that outgoing US President Joe Biden could give Ukraine nuclear arms as a "security guarantee." "That would be an instant and enormous deterrent," the paper claimed, in an article bylined by four of its reporters, but citing anonymous sources, in which it acknowledged that such a move would be "complicated and have serious implications."

Commenting on the report on Tuesday, Peskov said: "You know, even the most provocative line aimed at escalating tensions has a fringe extremist flank. This idea probably comes from this fringe extremist flank."

The Russian presidential spokesman described the suggestion of transferring nuclear weapons to Ukraine as "absolutely irresponsible deliberations by people, who probably have a poor understanding... of reality, and who do not feel a shred of responsibility" for the consequences of their proposals.

Peskov also noted that "all of these statements are anonymous."

Moscow is concerned that the "outgoing administration in Washington continues to pursue... further escalation," the spokesperson added.

US and UK 'directly involved' in Nord Stream sabotage - Russia's spy chief

American and British saboteurs were behind the blasts that crippled the key pipelines, Sergey Naryshkin has said

The US and British intelligence services were involved in the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, the head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergey Naryshkin, has said.

The key energy connector, built to deliver Russian gas to Germany and the rest of Western Europe, was ruptured by explosions at the bottom of the Baltic Sea in September 2022.

Comment: The Republican administration during the much of the building of Nord Stream II was led by Donald Trump. Are the obstruction put to the construction during that period the reason why Sergey Naryshkin according to this article: FSB chief warns of escalation over US-backed strikes on Russia stated that:
"it is unlikely that the election of a new US president will lead to a fundamental change in Washington's foreign policy."
In the same article, there also was:
Moscow must be prepared for any provocations from Washington, London, and their allies, the FSB chief said, specifically noting that US President Joe Biden and his team were likely to aggravate the situation in the key global regions as much as possible before leaving office in January.

"The main goal is to hinder the new administration's potential opportunities for a political solution to the accumulated problems," Bortnikov claimed.
Suppose this time around Donald Trump really wants to change the policies, will he be able?

Washington's authorization for Kiev to carry out attacks on internationally recognized Russian territory using Western-supplied long-range weapons will inevitably lead to an escalation of the conflict, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), Aleksandr Bortnikov, has warned.

Comment:
"flirting with the West is associated with significant security risks" which could develop into a "full-fledged threat to sovereignty and constitutional order."
Two examples are Georgia and Moldova.

Moscow will consider any threat of nuclear arms being supplied to Ukraine by the US as preparation for a direct war with Russia, former president Dmitry Medvedev has warned. The actual transfer of nuclear weapons would be tantamount to an attack on the country under Russia's new nuclear doctrine, he added.

In a Telegram post on Tuesday, Medvedev referenced a recent report in the New York Times. In a piece bylined by four of its journalists, the NYT claimed that US and EU officials are "discussing deterrence as a security guarantee" for Ukraine, claiming a conversation is underway to consider giving Ukraine nuclear weapons.

US politicians and journalists are seriously discussing the consequences of providing Kiev with nuclear weapons, said Medvedev, who serves as the deputy chair of the Russian Security Council.

"Looks like my sad joke about crazy senile Biden, who's eager to go out with a bang and take a substantial part of humanity with him, is becoming dangerously real," he said.

Tearing the Leviathan Apart

The time has come to end the Administrative State once and for all.

This failed experiment launched a century ago by Progressive Statists like Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt is a deeply unconstitutional approach to government that is antithetical to the free, representative government founded by the American Republic. It is the polar opposite of what our founders envisioned with the unelected bureaucrats doing the governing of the country while not responsive to "We the People," as the people didn't elect them and, more importantly, don't have any recourse to redress their grievances against the increasingly authoritarian tendencies of the Administrative State via its statutes and regulations that benefit the State and its allies.

The good news is that President Trump has fully empowered Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is a massive step in the right direction. The fundamental reason for this is: Trump rejects the premise that the Administrative State is legitimate or that its unelected bureaucrats should be the final decision makers on anything, whether foreign or domestic policy. But Trump and DOGE should not settle for reducing government spending and the regulatory burden.

Best of the Web: The Antisemitism Awareness Act is the death knell for free speech

stop killing children
Freedom of speech is the principal pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved, and tyranny is erected on its ruins....Ben Franklin
The Antisemitism Awareness Act is a wrecking ball designed to pulverize the First Amendment. While the alleged intention of the bill is to make Jewish students feel safer on campus, the real purpose is to put an end to the anti-genocide demonstrations that have broken out across the country and to prevent the criticism of Israel. The proposed bill invokes a dodgy legal mechanism to derail the protests and to silence Israel's critics. By using a broad and ambiguous definition of antisemitism, the bill compels university administrators to crackdown on free speech invoking sketchy claims of discrimination. Political analyst Paul Craig Roberts summed it up like this: "if universities ...don't suppress student protests against Israel's massacre of civilians in Gaza and Lebanon they will lose their accreditation and federal financial support." In short, universities are being encouraged to quash the free expression of political ideas to preserve their federal funding. This helps to illustrate how Zionist lobbyists are now engaged in a full-throated assault on constitutionally protected civil liberties, namely free speech.

Western officials are less concerned that Russian President Vladimir Putin will escalate the conflict before Donald Trump takes office.

According to the New York Times, US and European officials have discussed a range of options they believe will deter Russia from taking more Ukrainian territory, including providing Kiev with nuclear weapons. The outlet reports that Western officials believe the Kremlin will not significantly escalate the war before Donald Trump is sworn in as President in January.

Following the election of Trump earlier this month, the US and its NATO allies began taking steps to rush weapons to Ukraine and give Kiev the ability to strike targets inside Russian territory with long-range weapons.

Comment: Trump did what he 'had' to do first time around. This time, perhaps he shall achieve what he 'wants'...given a Biden ''Hail Mary' exit.

From Nixonomics to Trumponomics

President Donald Trump signs Executive Order 13780 on March 6, 2017, barring travel indefinitely from seven countries
Fifty years ago, Republican President Richard M. Nixon resigned from the nation's highest office, becoming the only U.S. president so far to do so. There is much to be said about Nixon's presidency and its legacy — not least his "Southern Strategy" to appeal to racist white voters, the administration's carpet bombing of Cambodia that killed, at a minimum, tens of thousands of people (if not many more), and the Watergate scandal that led to his near-impeachment and eventual departure from office. Another remarkable fact about the Nixon administration, however, is that it enacted an economic program that would be anathema to future Republican administrations. Nixon, who famously declared in office that he was "now a Keynesian in economics," oversaw the implementation of emergency price controls and a significant expansion of environmental and safety regulations.

Ronald Reagan's ascent to the presidency in 1980 meant an end to the Nixonian economic regime and the ascent of the right-wing "free market" ideology that soon became fundamental to the party's identity. The advocates of Reaganomics, who launched an all-out assault on labor unions and sought to dismantle regulations and the welfare state, came to dominate U.S. politics for decades. Donald Trump's takeover of the Republican Party, his first term as president, and now his successful reelection to a second term, amount to yet another watershed in the party's approach to economics. In some ways, of course, Trump is using the same playbook as the Reaganites: massive tax cuts for the rich and hostility toward unions and workers' rights, for instance. In other respects, however, Trump's economic platform represents something different — namely in his nativist pitch for cracking down on the border, and in his overtly protectionist rejection of the free-trade dogma that has united both Republicans and Democrats since at least the 1990s.
