Theresa May's 'revenge' against Russia all the rage in trashy UK tabloids

Britain's super secret security services have been anonymously briefing the right-wing press over Theresa May's plans to launch a cyber war against Russia, in retaliation for the alleged involvement in the Salisbury poisonings.

The Times, the Daily Mail and The Sun all referenced government sources, in their pieces on what UK Prime Minister Theresa May is planning in retaliation against Russia.

In her statement to parliament, Wednesday, May alluded to counter-measures against Moscow over the alleged involvement of two Russian military officers - named as Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov - in the poisonings of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in Salisbury and Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess in Amesbury.

Comment: May is trying to use the tactic that if the UK takes 'countermeasures', then they must actually be retaliating against something. Never-mind that their narrative against Russia is complete rubbish. That said, if May's hacking is as awesome as her dancing, Russia has nothing to worry about.

US and Pakistan 'optimistic' about mending ties after new talks

U.S. and Pakistani officials expressed have optimism about the possibility of improved relations after a meeting between top U.S. officials and Pakistan's new prime minister.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said late on September 5 that he was "hopeful" of resetting the troubled U.S. relationship with Pakistan after he met Imran Khan and other senior officials in Islamabad.

"I'm hopeful that the foundation that we laid today will set the conditions for continued success," he said as he departed Pakistan, though he added there is a "long way to go" before Washington would resume military assistance.

Comment: The US knows it is losing both Pakistan and Afghanistan to China and Russia. All the optimism expressed in the article is pretty meaningless considering the fractured ties.

France's defense minister calls for cutting dependence on US supplies for weapons systems

France must cut its dependence on U.S. components in its weapons systems to minimize Washington's ability to block its arms exports, its defense minister said on Thursday.

U.S. export control laws can be used to limit European weapons sales if even small components come from U.S. suppliers. That legislation was in place prior to Donald Trump's presidency, but the industry has grown increasingly worried that his administration is acting to halt exports that might have been permitted in the past.

Washington has this year blocked the sale to Egypt of French-made SCALP cruise missiles, which contain a U.S. part.

SOTT Focus: Trump vs Deep State is Just Drama: We Are Being Played

If any evidence existed to be found that Donald Trump had illegally colluded with the Russian government to rig the 2016 presidential election, that evidence would have been picked up by the sprawling surveillance networks of the US and its allies and leaked to the Washington Post before Obama left office.

Russiagate is like a mirage. From a distance it looks like a solid, tangible thing, but when you actually move in to examine it critically you find nothing but gaping plot holes, insinuation, innuendo, conflicting narratives, bizarre mental contortions to avoid acknowledging contradictory information, a few arrests for corruption and process crimes, and a lot of hot air. The whole thing has been held together by nothing but the confident-sounding assertions of pundits and politicians and sheer, mindless repetition. And, as we approach the two year mark since this president's election, we have not seen one iota of movement toward removing him from office. The whole thing's a lie, and the smart movers and shakers behind it are aware that it is a lie.

A report authored by two government-linked think tanks that calls on the authorities to deny accreditation to RT and Sputnik reveals the West's fear of the freedom of speech, a Russian senator has argued.

The Institute for Strategic Research of the French Defense Ministry (IRSEM) and The Centre for Analysis, Planning and Strategy (CAPS), linked to the French Foreign Ministry, issued on Wednesday a joint paper on the spread of disinformation and how to combat it.

The report urges the French government to "name and isolate" news outlets that are deemed "foreign propaganda organs." Citing comments by President Emmanuel Macron, who accused RT and Sputnik of acting as "bodies for influence and false propaganda," the report advises: "It is necessary not to grant [these organizations] accreditation and not to invite them to press conferences for journalists."

Senator Sanders proposes 'Stop BEZOS' Act that targets corporate welfare

Vermont Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders has unveiled his new 'Stop BEZOS' Act, a pointed jab at the Amazon CEO, which ostensibly aims to entirely eliminate one kind of corporate welfare in the US.

The proposed bill would target companies with 500 or more employees, including some of America's largest corporations such as Amazon, Apple and Walmart.

The Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies Act (or the 'Stop BEZOS' Act) would impose a 100 percent tax on companies equal to the amount of money the companies' employees receive from federal welfare programs such as food stamps or Medicaid. It would apply to both full and part-time employees as well as independent contractors.

Syria's terror-infested Idlib province is a thorn that needs removing, a military expert told RT, adding that the Syrian Army is capable of both freeing the area from terrorists and keeping civilians safe.

The Idlib de-escalation zone has "served its purpose and has to be cleared out as soon as possible", as it's become a "source of destabilization and threats" that impedes further peace process in Syria, Mikhail Khodarenok, a retired colonel, who worked at the main operational directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, told RT.

White House officials are predictably denying being the author of treasonous NYT article

Multiple White House officials, including Vice President Mike Pence, have denied writing a New York Times piece, in which the writer claims to be an insider working against Trump, as the search for the saboteur heats up.

In the op-ed, titled "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration," published Wednesday, an anonymous White House "senior official" describes a mentally unstable president who makes impulsive decisions and unpredictably about-turns on policies. The unnamed official also described a concerted effort from themselves and others to thwart "parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations."

President Trump has accused the newspaper of treason, and demanded it reveal the source's identity, if the source even exists. In the meantime, speculation has reached boiling point. White House aides are reportedly scrambling to find the mole, and the media has offered up some colorful theories of its own.

State Secretary Mike Pompeo was first to deny involvement. Channelling his inner Shaggy, Pompeo said on Thursday: "It's not mine."

The world's fifth largest consumer of natural gas, China, is planning to boost imports from neighboring Russia, according to the Chinese Board of Energy Affairs. Beijing will also buy more gas from Kazakhstan.

At the same time, China is set to promote diversification of natural gas imports, an official source said, as quoted by government-controlled China News Service.

"In 2017, China imported 95.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas via the Central Asian and China-Myanmar gas pipelines from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Myanmar," the source told the agency. "In the near future, imports of gas from Russia and Kazakhstan will be increased."
