Netanyahu wants to redraw map in the Golan; Russia sends him to the UNSC

Recognizing the illegally-annexed Golan Heights as part of Israel would be a violation of UN Security Council resolutions, Russia's foreign minister has said, in an apparent rebuke to an appeal made by Israel's prime minister.

Changing the status of the Golan Heights would be a "direct violation" of United Nations Security Council resolutions which dictate the international community's stance on the disputed territory, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted.

On Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu called on the international community to recognize Israel's annexation of the Golan, Syrian territory seized by Israel fifty-one years ago.

"Israel on the Golan Heights is a fact that the international community must recognize and as long as it depends on me, the Golan Heights will always remain under Israeli sovereignty," Netanyahu said during an inauguration of a synagogue in the Golan Heights.

In August, Netanyahu expressed hope that Washington would recognize Israel's claim to the territory, but US National Security Advisor John Bolton insisted that "there's no discussion of it, no decision within the US government."

Israel seized part of the Golan Heights during the Six Day War of 1967. In 1981, Israel's parliament, the Knesset, unilaterally proclaimed the occupied land to be part of the Jewish state. The declaration was swiftly declared illegal by the UN Security Council.

Pentagon's new weapons systems easily hacked says report

New US weapons systems being developed by the US Department of Defense can be easily be hacked by adversaries, a new government report said on Tuesday.

The Government Accountability Office said the Pentagon was unaware of how easy it could be for an adversary to gain access to the computer brains and software of the weapons systems and operate inside them undetected.

The weak points began with poor password management and unencrypted communications, it said. Access points for the systems continued to grow in number and are not always well-understood by the operators themselves, leaving even non-networked systems deeply vulnerable.

More critically, the report faulted the US military for not incorporating cybersecurity into the design and acquisition process for the computer-dependent weapons, and said weapons developers often did not themselves adequately understand cybersecurity issues.
"Due to this lack of focus on weapon systems cybersecurity, DOD likely has an entire generation of systems that were designed and built without adequately considering cybersecurity," the GAO said. "In one case, it took a two-person test team just one hour to gain initial access to a weapon system and one day to gain full control of the system they were testing," it said.

Pope Francis compares having an abortion to hiring a contract killer to solve a problem

Pope Francis
Pope Francis has compared having an abortion to hiring a hitman to kill somebody in order to solve the problem. He stressed this kind of solution is similar to what mafia does.

"Interrupting a pregnancy is like eliminating someone," the Pope said in a weekly address to believers in Vatican's Saint Peter's Square on Wednesday. "Getting rid of a human being is like resorting to a contract killer to solve a problem."

Francis rejected the idea that having an abortion was a human right. "How can an act that suppresses innocent and defenseless life as it blossoms be therapeutic, civil or simply human?" he argued.

The Pope said the acceptance of abortion was part of a wider "depreciation of human life," which also included wars, exploitation and "a culture of wastefulness."

Comment: Pretty much. 60 million dead in the US so far. Certainly, a percentage of those were 'legit' for moral or health reasons, but the majority are murders.

War and more war! US Defense Secretary Mattis wants 80% of key fighter jets ready for war

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has called on the Pentagon to bring at least 80 percent of its key fighter jets to combat readiness. For a country always at war with someone, surprisingly few of its warplanes are kept sky-worthy.

Consistent with Washington's increasingly saber-rattling rhetoric, the world's largest military is putting its money where its mouth is. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis has ordered the Air Force and Navy to increase their mission-capable rates for four major aircraft to 80 percent over the next twelve months, throwing the spotlight on the lamentable state of the nation's airborne fleet. The mid-September memo was seen exclusively by Defense News.

The planes in question - the F-35, F-22, F-16 and F-18 - are currently in a dismal state of air-readiness. Last year, fewer than half the Air Force's F-22s were mission-capable, and the notoriously expensive F-35 saw its first crash last month, just days after the fleet took to the air for the first time.

As Russia will most likely not return to PACE in 2019 because the group had postponed the discussion of national delegations' rights following the lead of Russophobic minority, a senior State Duma MP has said.

The comment from MP Leonid Slutsky came soon after the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) announced the decision to postpone till January next year the discussion over the resolution introducing new rules over the national delegations' credential and voting.

Slutsky, who chairs the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee told reporters that this postponement was effectively preventing Russia from even filing an application for participation in the 2019 session of the assembly.

A tweet from the IDF thanking Nikki Haley for her "unwavering support" for Israel has sparked an avalanche of snarky comments, with many pointing out that Haley was supposed to be the US, not Israeli, envoy to the UN.

In a surprise announcement on Tuesday, Haley resigned her post as Washington's envoy to the United Nations. Haley's departure ignited a Twitter storm of speculation about why she chose to step down, and what she's planning next. Israel's military, however, used the announcement as an opportunity to thank the retiring US diplomat for her service to the Jewish state.

"Thank you @nikkihaley for your service in the @UN and unwavering support for Israel and the truth. The soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces salute you!" the IDF's official Twitter account wrote.

Sanctions targeting Russian oil will collapse EU energy system, says BP CEO

Sanctions against Russia's key energy companies would inevitably lead to a collapse of the European energy sector, BP CEO Bob Dudley has warned, according to Sputnik news agency.

"I do not think that would happen. If sanctions were put on Rosneft or Gazprom or LUKoil like what happened with Rusal, you would virtually shut down the energy systems of Europe, it is a bit of extreme thing to happen. We invest in Russia carefully, not just in Rosneft," Dudley told the Oil & Money conference in London.

Russia is a key supplier of natural gas to Europe. State-run Gazprom, the world's largest gas producer, caters for 40 percent of European energy needs. For geographical reasons, Russian supplies are by far the cheapest and safest for the continent.

The UK's Supreme Court has ruled the refusal by Christian owners of a bakery in Northern Ireland to make a cake bearing the slogan "Support Gay Marriage" to be lawful.

In a high-profile case that lasted four years and cost UK taxpayers £150,000 ($197,316), the court ruled the Ashers bakery in Belfast had not acted in a discriminatory manner by refusing to make the cake with topping in support of same-sex marriage.

The case was launched back in 2014, when gay rights activist Gareth Lee sued the bakery on the grounds of discrimination over his sexual orientation and political beliefs.

Demented witch who fell from power calls for the end of civility

hillary clinton
Hillary Clinton says the time for civility is over.

After the bitter and partisan fight over the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the former secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate declared that President Donald Trump has undermined the integrity of the nation's highest court and that it's time for Democrats to be "tougher" with their opponents, in an interview with CNN published Tuesday

"You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about," Clinton told CNN's Christiane Amanpour. "That's why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that's when civility can start again."

Comment: You know things are bad for a society when there is a common sentiment that being uncivil is seen as the proper course to making the world a better place.

Establishment bootlickers grieve the resignation of 'moderate' psychopath Nikki Haley

Nikki Haley resigns UN ambassador
World War Three proponent and US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has announced her resignation today, to the dismay of establishment bootlickers everywhere.

"Nikki Haley, ambassador to the United Nations, has resigned, leaving the administration with one less moderate Republican voice," tweeted the New York Times, without defining what specifically is "moderate" about relentlessly pushing for war and starvation sanctions at every opportunity and adamantly defending the slaughter of unarmed Palestinian protesters with sniper fire.

"Too bad Nikki Haley has resigned," tweeted law professor turned deranged Russia conspiracy theorist Laurence Tribe. "She was one of the last members of Trumplandia with even a smidgen of decency."

"Thank you @nikkihaley for your remarkable service. We look forward to welcoming you back to public service as President of the United States," tweeted Mark Dubowitz, Chief Executive of the neoconservative think tank/covert Israeli war psyop firm Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

"Thank you @nikkihaley for your service in the @UN and unwavering support for Israel and the truth," tweeted the fucking IDF. "The soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces salute you!"

Comment: Haley's departure from the UN is only a disappointment to those who lack a conscience:
