Netanyahu stirs fresh controversy: Victory in Gaza is top priority, not hostages

hostagefams

According to fresh reporting in Haaretz, Israel is preparing tens of thousands of orders calling more reserve soldiers to active duty, amid an expected expansion of ground operations in the Gaza Strip.

But more reservists are increasingly needed as Israel's military once again becomes more engaged in places like Syria, Lebanon, the Golan Heights, and security crackdowns in the West Bank.

The Haaretz report suggests that a surge of additional soldiers will free up more forces to focus efforts on defeating Hamas in Gaza.

One of the areas of expected new operations is the town of Muwasi on the Gaza coast. Israel is claiming that it has become a safe haven for Hamas, and that militants are hiding in what has become a sprawling tent city of the internally displaced, and so has to be cleared of all Palestinians.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has meanwhile unleashed fresh controversy related to these expanded operations. He essentially admitted that the remaining hostages are not the country's top priority, but the ultimate defeat of Hamas is.

Comment: If Netanyahu truly wanted to retrieve Israeli hostages he would have accepted a deal long ago. Instead, it will be Hamas' fault when Israel bombs those hostage facilities - a small price to pay for global perception management.

RFK Jr: HHS became a 'collaborator in child trafficking' under Biden

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. said Wednesday that HHS is no longer facilitating child trafficking in the United States and is instead "very aggressively" searching for the hundreds of thousands of migrant children lost by the Biden administration.

During a White House Cabinet meeting with President Trump and other top administration officials to mark the first 100 days of the president's second term, Kennedy said:
"We have ended HHS's role as the principal vector in this country for child trafficking. During the Biden administration, HHS became a collaborator in child trafficking for sex and for slavery, and we have ended that."
In November of 2022, an HHS volunteer came forward to accuse the Biden regime of knowingly participating in the sex-trafficking of minor children after observing how it processed unaccompanied migrant children at an HHS Emergency Intake Site in Pomona, California.

According to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), one of the humanitarian ship schedule to deliver vital aid to Gaza was attacked by drones in international waters near Malta, The vessel, located 14 nautical miles from Malta, was hit by two drones while on its way to Gaza, where aid organizations have warned of dire conditions due to a two-month blockade by Israel. A report from the Maltese Press indicates the presence of an unauthorised Israeli military aircraft in the Maltese airspace just hours before the drone attack on FFC vessel Conscience was reported.

Comment: So, Malta's lending a hand, right? Wrong.

From the Malta Today:
In a reaction issued on Friday afternoon, the Ambassador of Palestine to Malta confirmed that Maltese authorities responded to the call at 00:20am regarding the attack, and the Malta Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) sent a firefighting-equipped tug boat which managed to control the fire on the flotilla and secure its crew who remained safe.

Ambassador Hanania is in direct communication with the Maltese authorities and relevant parties to ensure the continued safety and well-being of all individuals onboard. "HE Ambassador Hanania extends the Palestinians deep appreciation to the Government of Malta for its swift response and professional action to this incident which prevented a tragedy from happening," the embassy said.

The ambassador urged people from all over the globe to help in ending the Israeli attacks on Gaza, and to allow humanitarian aid to reach the Palestinian people.

Trump 'blundered' on China tariffs - Medvedev

Medvedev
© Aleksey Nikolsky / SputnikFormer Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow, April 3, 2025.
US President Donald Trump's misplaced tariff policies are hurting America's allies but will fail to tank the Chinese economy, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.

In early April, Trump announced sweeping tariffs on most of America's trading partners, citing what he called an unfair trade imbalance. After backlash overseas and a negative response from the stock market, he suspended most new tariffs for dozens of countries - except China - for 90 days pending negotiations.

In a tongue-in-cheek post on Telegram on Labor Day, Medvedev, who serves as the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, argued that Trump deserves an "exemplary labor" award for "starting the tariff battle."

America's neighbors and its allies in Europe are "suffering" and "crying" from the tariffs, the former president wrote. "They are all in a really bad position, facing the need to bow down in a ritual known as 'kiss my ass.'"

Reducing labor migrant numbers not in Russia's interests - Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

The foreign minister explained his reasoning by citing labor shortages, but stressed that foreign workers need to comply with Russian laws

Reducing the number of migrant laborers in Russia would not be in the interests of the country, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

The diplomat pointed out that Russia is currently experiencing a labor shortage. Taking measures that would further decrease the number of laborers would make plans for the country's development "less realistic," he told a press conference following his visit to Uzbekistan on Wednesday.

Putin creates new agency to crack down on illegal immigration

The service will also oversee citizenship issues, according to the Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree creating a new state agency tasked with enhancing immigration governance. The Citizenship and Foreign Nationals Registration Service will operate as part of the Interior Ministry.

Commenting after the decree was signed on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said "the main goal is to bring order to migration processes and enforce measures that promote compliance with Russian laws among migrants while reducing illegal activity."

Putin earlier stressed the need to focus on shutting down channels of illegal immigration.

The Interior Ministry previously reported the presence of 670,000 undocumented migrants in Russia. It also stated that foreign nationals without valid documents will be permitted to extend their stay until the end of April 2025.

Speaking at the Federation Council earlier on Wednesday, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov criticized the police for "significant shortcomings" in migration control.

"As a result, there was often no current data on the status and movements of foreign nationals, and their departure from the country was not enforced," he said. "In 1,500 cases, prosecutors have taken legal action to overturn fraudulent grounds used to legalize migrants."

Russia adopted stricter migration laws following a foreign-organized terrorist attack on a concert venue outside Moscow in March 2024, which claimed 145 lives and left over 550 injured.

The number of foreign nationals expelled from Russia reached 190,000 last year, nearly a third more than in 2023, according to Interior Ministry data. The number of foreigners deported from the country due to law violations jumped by 45%.

Organizing illegal immigration is now classified as a particularly serious crime, with penalties that include the seizure of financial assets and property gained through human trafficking. The measure is intended to strip criminals of economic incentives and dismantle illegal migration networks.

'Gardner' and 'Food City': Azerbaijani "Kings" deceive Russia for 600 Billion Rubles a month?
Journalists of the investigation department of the First Russian told about what business really looks like in Azerbaijan.

Attempts by the Russian authorities to restore order in the capital's markets 'Sadovod' and 'Food City' ended with the dismissal of four generals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at once. The Azerbaijani diaspora has learned to 'show its teeth' well. Especially when there is such support in the person of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev himself.

Among the most loyal 'subjects' are businessmen God Nisanov and Zarakh Iliev, who have made billions in Russia. But how?
[ ...]
In 2018, according to the Department of Financial Monitoring and Currency Control of the Bank of Russia, the Moskva shopping center in Lublin, Sadovod and Food City became the leaders in shadow retail. According to the director of the department, Yuri Polupanov, then the volume of unaccounted cash that the Central Bank does not see amounted to up to 600 billion rubles per month.

For comparison, the annual revenue of the Wildberries marketplace in 2023 amounted to 538 billion rubles. And three retail facilities of God Nisanov and Zarakh Iliev manage to withdraw as much as 600 billion rubles in an unknown direction. And not even in a year. No - per month, - notes the Tsargrad Investigation Department.
[ ...]
The checks don't give you anything?
Despite the fact that officially the same Sadovod declares revenue of 2.6 billion rubles for the year, the question arises: where is everything else? According to Yuri Polupanov, the Central Bank sees operations where most of the revenue is purchased cryptocurrency, which is not accounted for anywhere. And then - sending these funds by e-mail directly to the homeland of these merchants and manufacturers, followed by conversion to the local currency.

In addition, as the representative of the Central Bank noted, there are also illegal exchangers in these markets. And those of them who work legally submit reports to the Central Bank that do not coincide with the data that the Bank of Russia calculates remotely.
[...]
Why were the Interior Ministry generals fired?
After the schemes for withdrawing Nisanov's black cash from the markets of the Year were revealed, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the FSB to solve this problem. In an interview with Tsargrad, a former operational officer of the Moscow RUBOP, Mikhail Ignatov, said that at that time both the FSB and the police were really organized. The commotion was impressive. But they're not stupid either: they figured it out and turned on the fire alarm at Food City. And the sellers immediately left their trading places, so as not to be caught red-handed with black cash.
[...]
But if the check turned out to be effective, it is not known what consequences it would all turn out to be for the police themselves, Ignatov believes.

Here is a vivid example when the police went not even to them, but to their partners with a check. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Just a short time later, four police generals were dismissed. The inspectors then sealed the warehouses of these partners, suspended operations and demanded documents for the products. But in the end, everything turned in the other direction-they accused our guys of extorting some money, and four generals lost their posts. As they say, thank you at least for not landing behind bars. But they could, they are allowed to do anything, - he noted.
[...]
Diaspora state in the Russian capital
As Mikhail Ignatov noted, these markets, in fact, represent a 'state within a state', where immigrants from Central Asia and Transcaucasia have united. Moreover, they are not controlled or checked by anyone. They have their own laws, their own security service and their own 'solutions'.

It's a whole enclave full of crazy cash running around... Illegal migrants were repeatedly found there - and it is not clear where they live and how they live, these are 'unaccounted for' people. What do they do? No one knows. They work there as movers during the day, but what do they do at night? Where are they going? What crimes can be committed? And then they can hide in the same place again, in these basements and labyrinths of the market, where no police will ever find them.,

- concluded the interlocutor.
An earlier article was longer and had some of the same but also other details:
March 16, 2025 00:00 - Four police generals dismissed: Aliev "put things in order" in Moscow?

On the surface it is just a matter of enough law enforcement, but since the structures are so embedded and since Moscow and its 14 million inhabitants, along with probably many other cities, do need food whether it comes one way or the other, in reality it may not be so easy. Looking back, the shadow economy was also important during the USSR. Some things do not change easily.

Working to reduce the worst problems associated with illegal immigration and putting pressure to legalize as much as possible, as the Russian Government is trying to do, is probably the best option.

Trump's new trade war target: China's merchant fleet and shipyards

Shipping Containers

The global geopolitical reckoning period continues with trade wars and protectionism. The US' new customs tariffs are taking their place as the most important soldiers of this war. The old order is no more. However, there is no change in the old order's vision of Eurasia and the 21st century's vision of access to rare metals and oil. After all, World War I was the war of transitioning from coal to oil; World War II was the war of owning oil. The 21st century will be the century of struggle for semiconductors, artificial intelligence and access to rare metals, which are indispensable for advanced technology.

Geopolitical Struggle and Trade Wars

Trade wars have already been continuing for years with embargoes, sanctions and bans against traditional rivals such as China and Russia by the US. This time, the dose of the war has increased astronomically, while both its fronts and scope are changing. Now, the US' traditional allies such as the EU, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Australia are also taking their places on the opposing front in the US trade war. Despite having dollar seigniorage, the US cannot produce enough, it has a trade deficit with economic giants, and the geopolitical gains it has achieved as a result of all the wars and regime changes it has engaged in after the Cold War do not create sufficient surplus value in its economy. On the contrary, it creates a deficit.

Israel launches drone attack on 'Freedom Flotilla' Gaza aid ship in international waters off Malta

A Gaza-bound activist aid ship caught fire and issued an SOS, after an Israeli drone attack off the coast of Malta in international waters
Freedom Flotilla Coalition demands Israel answer to violations of international law, including blockade and 'bombing of our civilian vessel'.

A ship carrying aid to Gaza in a bid to break Israel's blockade has been hit by drones in international waters off Malta, according to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), the group that organised the mission.

The FFC said in a statement on Friday that the vessel, now located 14 nautical miles (25km) from Malta, was the target of two drone strikes while on the final preparatory stages before sailing to Gaza. The ship had been seeking to deliver aid to the besieged enclave, where aid groups warn people are struggling to survive following a two-month total blockade by Israel.

Ban of RT journalist proves Romanian election a 'meme' - Moscow

The detention of RT correspondent Chay Bowes in Bucharest proves to the entire world that the upcoming Romanian election is a "meme," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told RT in a phone interview on Thursday.

Bowes was detained by the Romanian authorities on Thursday after his plane landed in Bucharest. He was traveling from Ireland to Romania to cover the upcoming presidential election. The vote is a re-run, since the election first round was controversially annulled last year following a surprise win by NATO-skeptic independent candidate Calin Georgescu.

"The Romanian election really is a meme," Zakharova told RT when asked to comment on Bowes' detention.

The RT correspondent was arrested despite "not having violated anything, having followed all formal procedures and having crossed the border legally," she said.

AfD is 'extremist' - German intel agency

© Sean Gallup / Getty Images
Germany's domestic intelligence agency has officially designated the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) as an "extremist" party. The designation comes despite the AfD leading national opinion polls.

In a statement on Friday, Germany's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) said that the AfD exhibits numerous signs of a party acting against the free democratic basic order while accusing it of "disregarding human dignity." The assessment was made based on an "intensive and comprehensive expert review" of the party's activities, including its affiliations and statements by party members.

At the core of the decision is what the agency described as the party's "understanding of people predominantly based on their ethnic descent." According to the BfV, AfD leaders promote policies that exclude German citizens with migrant backgrounds - particularly Muslims - from full societal participation. The report also flagged the party's use of terms such as "knife-wielding migrants" and its attribution of violent tendencies to non-European ethnic groups.

A tech company with ties to Israeli intelligence, TeleMessage's riskier app appears to be favored by Trump's national security team.

During Wednesday's meeting for Trump's cabinet, Mike Waltz checked the app on his phone, using what appeared to be Signal. As news broke that Waltz had lost his job as National Security Advisor, images from the cabinet meeting circulated widely online on Thursday. Upon closer inspection of the photos, it turned out that Waltz was not using the traditional Signal app. He appeared to be using an archiving app made by Israeli firm TeleMessage, which sells companion apps meant to enable archiving messages.

In one of the Reuters photos of Waltz's phone, a pop up appears with the text "Verify your TM SGNL PIN," just below a message from Vice President JD Vance. TM SGNL is an aspect of TeleMessage's software called "Signal Capture" that it sells to governments and corporations to enable archiving.

Drop Site zoomed in on the photo to show the unusual message on the screen, "Verify your TM SGNL PIN," revealing it is not the Signal App.
