ICC is 'politicized institution' used to pressure 'neo-colonies' - expert

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is being used by "so-called globalists" to enforce rules upon dependent nations that they themselves have no intention of adhering to, Drago Bosnic, a military expert and contributor to Bangladeshi Blitz newspaper, has claimed in an interview with RT.

A number of nations have criticized the organization recently, including Hungary, whose National Assembly voted this week to withdraw from the institution.

Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto criticized the international court as "a politicized institution that has lost its impartiality and credibility" when announcing the lawmakers' decision.

US and Ukraine sign minerals deal

Washington and Kiev have signed a minerals deal granting the US access to developing Ukraine's natural resources, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Ukrainian Economy Minister Yuliya Sviridenko announced on Wednesday.

The agreement comes as Ukraine seeks security guarantees from Washington as part of a potential peace deal with Moscow that US President Donald Trump is working to negotiate.

The deal sees the establishment of the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund.
Bessent said in a statement:
"President Trump envisioned this partnership between the American people and the Ukrainian people to show both sides' commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine."
The full text of the agreement has not yet been released. Sviridenko said the fund will be jointly managed by Ukraine and the US "on a 50/50 basis," and that "neither side will hold a dominant vote." She said that 50% of the revenue from new licenses in the fields of critical materials, oil, and gas will be directed to the fund.
"Full ownership and control remain with Ukraine. It is the Ukrainian state that determines what and where to extract. Subsoil remains under Ukrainian ownership - this is clearly established in the Agreement."

Comment: The mineral saga was not without drama:
Washington and Kiev are set to sign a major mineral resources agreement, which US President Donald Trump has been pushing for months. Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko has flown to the US to seal the deal, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal said on Wednesday, adding that the document should be signed within 24 hours.

Neither the US nor Ukraine have officially presented the details to the public yet. Reuters, which claims to have seen a draft of the document, reported that it would involve creating a joint fund that would receive half of all profits the Ukrainian government gets from any new natural resources permits issued in Ukraine. The document reportedly does not specify how the money will be spent or who controls the spending decisions.

The agreement would provide the US with preferential access to any new Ukrainian resource deals but would not give it direct control over Ukraine's mineral resources or gas infrastructure, according to Reuters. Kiev also reportedly refused to include any requirements that it pay the US back for billions of dollars spent on military assistance. America can still count any new military aid as its contribution to the joint fund, according to Shmigal.

The two sides have reportedly hit a last-minute snag. Washington reportedly insists on signing two technical documents detailing certain provisions of the deal along with the agreement. Kiev insists that the agreement must first be ratified by the Ukrainian parliament before other documents can be signed, according to the Financial Times.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Ukraine sought to make last-minute changes to the already agreed deal. "We're sure they'll reconsider that. We are ready to sign this afternoon, but they aren't," he told journalists.

Trump stated: "We've made a deal where our money is secure where we can start digging and do what we have to do." It is unclear if he was referring to the original US proposal or the final deal. The White House has yet to make an official announcement.
Ukraine backtracks on resources deal - US Treasury:
The Ukrainian side made surprise alterations to the document just as they were expected to seal the deal, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said during a press conference in the Oval Office on Wednesday.

"Our side's ready to sign. The Ukrainians decided last night to make some last-minute changes. We're assured that they will reconsider that." Bessent added that he hopes the deal will be signed on Wednesday afternoon.

A delegation from Ukraine led by Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko went to the US after securing a clause that stipulated only future military aid would count for Washington's contribution to the deal, rather than the totality of the aid provided so far, Financial Times wrote on Wednesday.

Sviridenko was told to "be ready to sign all agreements, or go back home," FT wrote, citing anonymous Ukrainian officials. The US wants Ukraine to sign both the framework pact and a detailed agreement on the proposed fund that would seal the full minerals deal, the newspaper wrote.

Kiev's team refused to sign the documents as "the fund agreement must be ratified by their country's parliament before it can be signed," FT wrote, citing its Ukrainian sources.

Trump has increasingly criticized Kiev and Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky for slow progress towards concluding the agreement.
The US now has physical investment in Ukraine - a resource to protect on a global basis no matter what Ukraine does in the future. Is it worth it?

What's normal, exactly?

When a claque of deep state shills such as Norm Eisen, Chuck Schumer, Bill Kristol, David Brooks, and Larry Summers holler about Mr. Trump's attempt to reform a depraved political culture as "an assault on norms," are you not prompted to wonder what, exactly, those norms might be?

Looks like they are describing a colossal matrix of racketeering operations in concert with an epic program of crypto-Marxist mind-fuckery, mountains of money purloined under color-of-law, swindles galore of practically every public enterprise, the capital city of a so-called republic fogged in gaslight to conceal a Satyricon of pedophilia, sodomy, and sado-masochism in every closet, cabinet, and pigeon-hole of the political class.

So, along comes Mr. Trump for the second round, with a supernaturally able clean-up crew this time, and the monsters feeding off that depraved normality commence to shriek in mortal panic as the scaffold of their crimes gets methodically disassembled and secrets are revealed.

Russia and Ukraine 'closer' to settlement says Rubio

The sides are nonetheless "far apart," meaning a breakthrough is needed for the conflict to end, the US Secretary of State has said.

Russia and Ukraine are closer to a peace agreement than at any point in the past three years, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said. He cautioned, however, that the sides still need to bridge numerous differences to end the conflict.

In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Rubio reflected on efforts by US President Donald Trump to settle the Ukraine conflict, a promise he had made while still on the campaign trail.
"For a hundred days he has done efforts to bring about peace... Look, we've gotten closer. We - for the first time - we haven't known this for three years - we kind of can see what it would take for Ukraine to stop. We can see what it would take for the Russians to stop.

"They're closer, but they're still far apart. And it's going to take a real breakthrough here very soon to make this possible... or I think the president is going to have to make a decision about how much more time we're going to dedicate to this."
However, stark differences between Moscow and Kiev remain, the State Secretary noted.

Comment: Will it take another 100? Ukraine is in no hurry to stop its manipulative agony.
The Trump administration is prepared to dedicate another 100 days to mediating a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, US Vice President J.D. Vance told Fox News in an interview published on Wednesday. He said the US has made progress by getting both sides to present their ideas for resolving the conflict.

Reflecting on the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's second term, the vice president said:
"We've got this first step. We've got the peace proposal out there and issued, and we're going to work very hard over the next 100 days to try to bring these guys together. Before the Trump administration got involved Moscow and Kiev weren't even talking - not to each other, not to anybody. They were just fighting. Now, the work of diplomacy is to try to sort of bring these two sides closer together, the very big gulf between what the Russians want and what the Ukrainians want."
On Thursday, Trump's special envoy, Keith Kellogg, said Kiev had agreed to acknowledge Russia's control over what it considers "occupied territories," while stopping short of officially recognizing Russian sovereignty.

Ukraine willing to 'de facto give up' land to Russia - Trump envoy

Keith Kellogg has said Kiev wants to hold the current front line.

Kiev has agreed to acknowledge Russia's control over Crimea and four other regions - without formally recognizing Moscow's sovereignty over them - according to US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Keith Kellogg.

In an interview on Wednesday, Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum asked Kellogg whether the US could accept Moscow's demand that Ukraine renounce claims to territories it considers to be under Russian occupation.

Kellogg replied:
"Partially, yes. Look, the Ukrainians, Martha, have already said - they're willing to give up the land... not de jure - forever - but de facto because the Russians actually occupied it. They've agreed to that. They told me that last week."
Kellogg added that Ukraine wants a ceasefire that would mean "you sit on the ground that you currently hold."

The envoy said he met with Ukrainian officials in London on April 23 and that they had agreed to "22 concrete terms" presented by the US, including a 30-day comprehensive ceasefire. He urged Moscow to "pick up on" the proposal.

Comment: Nothing comes easy involving Ukraine. It could all change tomorrow.

This post has been updated with additional information on the timing of the incident. [Updated Updated: December 21, 2024 11:00 PM]

Two U.S. Navy aviators are safe after their two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet was shot down by an American ship by mistake, according to a late Saturday statement from U.S. Central Command.

The Super Hornet, assigned to aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), was flying over the Red Sea when guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG-64) fired upon it, according to the CENTCOM statement.

"Both pilots were safely recovered. Initial assessments indicate that one of the crew members sustained minor injuries," reads a statement from CENTCOM. "This incident was not the result of hostile fire, and a full investigation is underway."

Comment: A few days ago, there was US Navy loses warplane during 'Houthi attack' - media. Was the crash in December caused by the Houthis too, in some way, despite the allegation "This incident was not the result of hostile fire, and a full investigation is underway."?

Israeli Newspaper: downing of US F-18 aircraft reveals a significant challenge posed by the Houthis in Yemen
Last updated Dec 25, 2024 4:25 PM

WORLD, Dec. 25 (YPA) - A Hebrew newspaper considered on Tuesday that the incident of downing US F-18 aircraft reveals the significant challenge posed by the Houthis in Yemen, not only to Israel but also to the United States.

The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth indicated that it believes the "coalition's ability — led by the United States — to deter the Houthis is now in doubt, after the group showed resilience in the face of airstrikes."

The Sanaa forces had announced that they carried out a large-scale attack against the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman earlier this week, which resulted in the crash of an American plane due to fire from the US military itself.

Yemen armed forces declare targeting aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman
Last updated Dec 22, 2024 6:22 PM

SANAA, Dec. 22 (YPA) - The Yemeni armed forces declared on Sunday its carried out a large military operation that targeted the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and a number of its destroyers in conjunction with the start of the UK-US aggressive attack on Yemen.

Military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Sarie, said in a televised statement that the operation, which was carried out with eight cruise missiles and 17 drones against the aircraft carrier and destroyers, led also to the downing of an F-18 aircraft.

The spokesman affirmed that the destroyers were trying to confront the Yemeni drones and missiles during the operation, as well as most of the US warplanes leaving Yemeni airspace for international waters in the Red Sea to defend the aircraft carrier.

Brig. Gen. Sarie revealed the operation also led to the withdrawal of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman towards the northern Red Sea after being subjected to more than one missile and drone attacks.

"The Yemeni Armed Forces succeed in confronting and thwarting the American-British aggression," the spokesman added, renewing the full readiness to confront any American-British-Israeli foolishness during the coming period."

He warned the Israeli and American enemies against any aggression against Yemen, stressing that Yemeni military would use their full right to defend Yemen and continue to support the Palestinian people until the aggression against Gaza is stopped and the siege is lifted.

What we know is that somehow, the plane was lost, but how much was merely damaged but not lost? Why did the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, probably accompanied by some smaller ships, prefer to at least temporarily withdraw from the scene? Until now, there are few answers.

Press freedom and pluralism face 'existential battle' across EU, report finds

Media pluralism in many EU member states is being increasingly strangled by a high concentration of ownership, even in countries with traditionally free media markets, according to a report that concludes press freedom is crumbling across the bloc.

The report, produced by the Civil Liberties Union for Europe (Liberties) based on the work of 43 human rights groups from 21 countries, said several EU governments were attacking press freedom or weakening media independence and regulation.

Along with weak ownership transparency rules, growing government influence over public media and threats against journalists, media freedom and pluralism were "under attack across the EU, and in some cases in an existential battle", it said.

"This isn't a surprise," said Jonathan Day, the report's lead editor. "Governments' efforts to weaken the rule of law and democratic institutions almost always start by seeking to control their country's media landscape."

The US Navy has lost an F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet and a tow tractor after both fell overboard from the USS Harry S. Truman. The aircraft carrier, part of Washington's strike group in the Red Sea, was reportedly maneuvering to evade a missile attack from Yemen-based Houthis.

The incident occurred on Monday in the Red Sea, where the Truman Carrier Strike Group is launching bombing raids against the Yemeni rebel group. While the Navy reported that one sailor had sustained a minor injury, it did not mention a Houthi threat.

However, multiple news outlets have since cited anonymous sources linking the incident to a rebel attack. On the same day, the Houthis claimed to have launched drones and missiles targeting American forces.

Comment: Was it Houthi aggression or sloppy sailing and tie-down issues blamed on the Houthi?

Moldova aiding Kiev-linked terror plots - Russia

Moldova is allowing Ukraine to use its territory to orchestrate attacks inside Russia, according to the FSB.

Ukrainian intelligence services continue to use Moldova as a staging ground for preparing terrorist attacks against Russia with the tacit approval of local authorities, Moscow's Federal Security Service (FSB) stated on Wednesday.

The FSB was commenting on the arrest of three alleged Ukrainian agents in the central Russian city of Khanty-Mansiysk, one of whom is a Moldovan national.

According to the agency, the Moldovan citizen had used his minivan to smuggle bomb components from a Ukrainian intelligence contact, transporting them through Poland, Lithuania, and Belarus.
"Moldovan territory and its citizens continue to be used by Ukrainian intelligence services — with the connivance of the [Moldovan President Maia] Sandu regime — for recruiting and training agents, supplying them with tools of terror, and subsequently sending them into Russia to carry out terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage."
Last week, Russia deported a former Moldovan intelligence operative and barred him from re-entering the country for the next 60 years.

Europe is drilling for World War III

Russia's military victory over Ukraine has been a near-certainty for months now. Ukraine's total defeat is only a matter of time, but as that time approaches, European powers have been increasingly determined not to let the war die and are now actively preparing to take it up where Ukraine stumbles. Our liberal democracies are as precious as they are fragile and every precaution must be taken to defend them from the Asiatic hordes gathering in the east.

While our valiant bankers are arranging to allocate trillions of euros of our children's and grandchildren's wealth for defense spending, our militaries are diligently exercising and preparing for war, hidden from ordinary Europeans who aren't exactly enthused about World War 3. But the Russians have noticed: presidential aide and former National Security Adviser Nikolai Patrushev recently stated that, for a second consecutive year, NATO has been
"conducting exercises at our borders at a scale unseen in decades. ... They are training for conducting a broad offensive from Vilnius to Odessa, seizing Kaliningrad region, imposing a naval blockade in the Baltic and the Black Seas and executing preventive strikes on the staging locations of Russian nuclear deterrence forces."
If Mr. Patrushev is correct, it would appear that London, Paris, Berlin and Brussels are actively preparing for war against Russia. But his statement that the exercises are "at a scale unseen in decades," needs to be put in context.
