A breakdown of Tony Blair's bizarre proposal to run Gaza

An unlikely answer has been found for who should lead the process of running Gaza after Israel's genocidal war: Tony Blair.

It was revealed last week that the former British prime minister - a controversial figure in the Middle East, to say the least - was being considered to lead a transitional authority in the enclave.

Haaretz has now published a leaked draft plan of what Gaza would look like under Blair's initiative.

The plan reveals a hierarchy in which an international board of billionaires and businesspeople sit at the top, while highly vetted "neutral" Palestinian administrators are at the bottom.

It sets out a three-year plan, budgeted at $90m in the first year, $134m in the second and $164m in the third (these are solely management expenses, and don't include reconstruction or aid).

The administration would work closely with Israel, Egypt and the US, and, according to Israeli sources cited by Haartez, has the backing of the White House.

Middle East Eye breaks down key highlights from the 21-page leaked document.

Comment: 'This intensely defined plan is a glorified ego trip for Who's Who. The Palestinians are the excuse.

The pirates of Israeli supremacy: The West's favorite rogue state has done it again

Israel Navy

The assault on an aid flotilla headed for Gaza broke all kinds of laws, but then again, laws have never stopped Israel.

The long-expected if perfectly criminal has happened again: Israel's navy has intercepted the Gaza-bound Sumud Flotilla by force, stopping almost 50 boats and, in effect, kidnapping hundreds of their crews and passengers.

In terms of law - which, of course, are never really applied in practice to Israel - everything is exceedingly clear: The Sumud Flotilla was a volunteer operation to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza which has been subjected to Israeli genocide for now almost two years. Israel had a clear obligation to let that aid pass.

But then what to expect from the world's most aggressive rogue state that is not "only" committing genocide, but also waging regional wars of aggression and running terrorist assassination campaigns in the face of the global public? And Israel has a well-established track-record of this kind of piracy, of course, having stopped several attempts to bring aid by sea since 2010, sometimes with casualties among the humanitarian activists.

When we combine recent pronouncements by Alastair Crooke and Pope Leo with the following summary overview of events on Russia's western front, in the South China Sea and in the Greater Israel project, we can have no cause for optimism. The world, as we know it, is goosed.

Crooke's main point is that America is a bull in a china shop and Israel has it by the nose. As far as America and her vassals go, escalation is the only game in town and the strategy is not so much to park the tanks on her enemies' lawns but to ram them down their throats, whilst making them offers they can't refuse. Russia, Venezuela and Iran have the choice of following Syria into bondage or getting their brains splattered all over the place. Far from being idle hyperbole, this has been the fate of Iranian and Syrian scientists and other non-combatants, whose very existence Israel found objectionable on the mercurial reasons that mafia statelet operates by. The oil rich Venezuelans, for their part, are seeing the Yanks blast their subsistence fishermen into a million pieces as part of America's domestic war on America's domestic drug plague.

If you seek any logic in any of this, you seek in vain.

Viceroy Blair and the Dubai-sation of Gaza: Unpacking Trump's post-war plan

Donald Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza has left many unanswered questions.

It does provide a few specifics, on the cessation of military operations, on the number of prisoners and bodies to be exchanged, and on the entry of aid into the territory. But much of the US president's proposal is open to interpretation. Some analysts believe that ambiguity is "by design".

Parts of the document lack detail on timelines, as well as consequences - particularly for Israel - if terms of the deal are not adhered to.

Muhammad Shehada, a Palestinian writer, activist and analyst, grew up under two decades of Israeli blockade and repeated wars in Gaza.

He spoke to Middle East Eye on Trump's plan, unpacking questions on the laying down of arms, the involvement of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the likelihood of forced expulsion, comparisons with the Oslo Accords and resistance in post-war Gaza. The interview has been edited for clarity and brevity:

Colombia expels all Israeli diplomats

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced the expulsion of all remaining Israeli diplomats following the interception of the Gaza flotilla by the Israeli Navy.

Petro's office said two Colombian nationals were among those aboard the seized boats and demanded their immediate release.

The Colombians were "engaged in humanitarian activities in solidarity with Palestine," Petro wrote on X on Wednesday, adding that a free trade agreement with Israel is also being suspended.

The flotilla, which departed from Spain last month, carried activists from more than 40 countries, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, who was among those detained after Israel intercepted several boats on Wednesday evening.

Israeli officials described the flotilla as a "provocation" aimed not at delivering aid but assisting Hamas.

Comment: More from the Sun:
President Gustavo Petro identified the detained women as Manuela Bedoya and Luna Barreto, who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla engaged in solidarity activities with Palestine.

The Israeli foreign ministry confirmed that several vessels from the flotilla had been safely stopped by Israeli forces. Israeli authorities stated that all passengers from the intercepted flotilla were being transported to an Israeli port.

A source at the Israeli consulate in Bogotá revealed that four diplomats had remained in Colombia despite Petro severing relations with Israel last year.

Petro declared the expulsion of Israel's entire diplomatic delegation through a post on social media platform X. He described Israel's flotilla interception as a new international crime by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Petro has emerged as one of Netanyahu's most vocal international critics, repeatedly describing the Israeli leader as genocidal. He has similarly condemned US President Donald Trump as an accomplice to genocide in Gaza.

Flashback Las Vegas cover-up continues: Police block only journalists asking real questions from latest press conference

Lombardo vegas shooting
Sheriff Joe Lombardo held a press conference on Friday.

The embattled sheriff lashed out at the public for the "conspiracy theories" surrounding the worst mass shooting in modern US history.

The Las Vegas police department blocked conservative reporters Laura Loomer and Mike Tokes from entering the presser.

Loomer and Tokes are in Las Vegas and broke several news reports on this confusing and outrageous investigation into Stephen Paddock and his massacre of dozens of country music fans at an outdoor festival.

Comment: No wonder they have to censor Loomer; she keeps digging up uncomfortable details:
BREAKING REPORT - @LauraLoomer: Las Vegas Security Guard Had Recently Started His Job At Hotel

Investigative journalist Laura Loomer is now exclusively reporting that Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino security guard Jesus Campos started working for the hotel on June 30th, 2017, just a few months before the deadliest shooting in United States history.

Citing a source in law enforcement, Loomer broke the news this afternoon on Twitter, noting Campos' "very recent employment":

FBI Cuts All Ties With ADL, Calling It 'Political Front' Disguised As A Watchdog

In a striking move for an administration that caters to the State of Israel and its American supporters, the FBI has severed its ties with the staunchly pro-Israel Anti-Defamation League (ADL), with Director Kash Patel saying the bureau refuses to team up with "political fronts masquerading as watchdogs."

The move comes after the ADL found itself facing a conservative uproar over including the recently-assassinated Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA in its "Glossary of Extremism and Hate." On Tuesday, the ADL announced it was retiring the glossary, a measure that failed to spare the 102-year-old group from an extraordinarily rare rebuke from a senior US official.

"James Comey wrote 'love letters' to the ADL and embedded FBI agents with them - a group that ran disgraceful ops spying on Americans," wrote Patel on X. "That era is OVER. This FBI won't partner with political fronts masquerading as watchdogs."

Comment: This FBI move is quite the turn of events. The ADL has been a 'true enemy of freedom' for many years now.

Americans traveling to most of Europe will have fingerprints scanned under new regulations set to take effect

Americans traveling to Europe will soon have their fingerprints scanned and picture taken when they arrive in countries like France, Italy and Spain under new regulations being rolled out across the continent starting next month. Those who don't provide such biometric data will be told au revoir, arrivederci or adiós.

The change comes as the European Union rolls out its new Entry/Exit System for not just Americans but all visitors from outside Europe's Schengen Area, a group of countries that allows people in the zone to travel across borders freely without going through customs checks.

The new system will be introduced gradually over a roughly six-month period starting Oct. 12. It will eventually replace passport stamps, according to the EU.

Jared Kushner still thinks Gaza is a real estate deal

© Roland Holst & Richard Nicholaus (1918)."Faust."
Donald Trump's so-called 20-point Gaza "peace plan" is not a diplomatic breakthrough. It is a sales pitch. If it looks like a property prospectus and reads like one, that's because Jared Kushner's fingerprints are all over it.

For Kushner, Gaza isn't a war zone suffocating under blockade — it's beachfront real estate waiting for redevelopment. Two million Palestinians are barely mentioned as political actors. Instead, they are treated as tenants in someone else's project, passive recipients of desalination plants, foreign investment, and donor cash overseen by Gulf monarchies. It is not statehood or sovereignty on offer. It is managed dependency, dressed up as prosperity.

We've seen this script before. In 2020, Kushner unveiled his "Peace to Prosperity" plan at a flashy Bahrain conference. Palestinians were promised $50 billion of infrastructure and investment if they gave up on sovereignty, refugees' right of return, and Jerusalem. Glossy renderings showed new highways and tourist resorts, as though a few projects could erase decades of displacement and violence. The plan collapsed on impact. Palestinians boycotted, Arab governments shrugged, and the world rightly condemned it as an insulting buyout attempt.

Trump's new Gaza blueprint is the sequel nobody asked for. Strip away the marketing and it is Kushner's 2020 plan in miniature: desalination projects, logistics hubs, investment zones. Copy-paste the same failed formula, this time applied to a shattered enclave. Kushner has not learned a single lesson — because the conceit of both documents is identical. He believes prosperity can replace politics.

The great betrayal: Why Arab and Muslim rulers backed Trump's Gaza plan

Regional leaders have responded to the bravery and steadfastness that Gaza's Palestinians have shown with fear, cowardice and self-interest

Arab and Muslim leaders can claim to have been duped into giving their backing to the plan unveiled by US President Donald Trump on Monday.

The plan announced in Washington was substantially different to the one they agreed to in New York. But that is the charitable way of reading what they have done.

Betrayal is another word that comes to mind.

A betrayal performed as a genocide is in full motion and which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been given a green light by Trump to continue.
