Some say the killing of animals by electrocution is more humane than a shot in the head, well if one has watched some botched jobs of animal electrocution in an abattoir one may change their minds.
There is no reverence, no utterance of religious word, just the killing of an animal, that will eventually find it's way into the cooler cabinet on the shelves of the meat department in a supermarket, marked as Halal meat.
There is also the question of Halal meat preparation, do the abattoirs adhere to the religious practice of meat preparation required by Islamic religious practice.
I suspect that some Muslims wanted to observe the original practice of their religion and preferred to slaughter the meat in that practice.
Surely there must be some leeway and compromise that could be reached, rather than inflame an already volatile situation regarding the Muslim populations in France.
