Disturbing video was released this week, capturing multiple police officers fire at least 36 rounds into a man holding a knife. Cops were firing so rapidly and dangerously that vehicles of innocent bystanders were hit by the gunfire.

"One of the (bullets) ricochets came and ended up hitting the fender, going through my fender. Me and my girl are sitting there and she is pregnant, I mean, it was a scary situation for us," Richard McCory, an innocent bystander told WFTV.

McCory's truck was one of several vehicles hit by the police gunfire.

McCory, who says he witnessed the entire ordeal, explained that "they told him to put his hands up and comply, and he went back and forth yelling and screaming, (and) things got escalated."

On Sunday, deputies pulled over Donald Edward Brown III, 32, and Erin Finney, 24, on U.S. 17-92 and Firehouse Road in Deland, Florida for suspicion of robbery.

Finney, who was driving the vehicle, can be seen in the video complying with police, backing up toward them, and turning herself in. However, Brown was acting irate and fumbled with his hands. At the end of the video, just before police unload on him, Brown appears to wave a knife around.

Brown's hand gestures can certainly be interpreted as threatening, if he had been armed with a gun. However, he was not.

When speaking of Brown waving around the knife, police said, "the passenger got out of the vehicle and was non-compliant with orders and presented a threat." So, dozens of rounds were fired in a highly populated area for 6 seconds straight — continuing for 4 seconds after Brown fell to the ground.

According to deputies, Brown was still holding the knife after he'd been killed.

The deputies who began recklessly shooting are Sgt. Justin Stewart, 32, Brandon Coker, 28, and Joshua Sheen, 24. They are all on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Had any of their bullets hit actual people, instead of just their vehicles, police would have charged Finney with attempted murder under the felony murder rule. As it stands now, Finney, who was entirely compliant and surrendered to officers, has been charged with the first-degree murder of Brown for allegedly taking part in the crime that led to police killing Brown.

In the video below, we are told that what these police officers are doing is protecting the public. However, judging from the bullet holes in the cars of the passersby, the police presented a greater danger than the man with a knife.
