I've had enough of someone else's propaganda. I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against. I'm a human being first and foremost, and as such I am for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.

It's all about the benjamins... most of those films aren't seen by most of the general voters from the Academy, so they vote for what they actually take the trouble to see, which is what they're involved with in some way or interested in, and that is a racial/social divide, as most of those long rich, don't have any desire to watch the other films, even though the studios send out free copies for them to watch... who wants to take the time on a busy schedule to watch something their not interested in? This is a generational aspect as well, from older to younger members of the Academy voters, and has been for quite some time, and most of the 'black' movies don't appeal to most of the older white members, and the same in reverse... the generational divide you find everywhere, and there's the 'friend' voting that goes on... who you know, what studio you work with, etc.... and the 'buzz' factor, if a film is getting pushed for an award or not... some of this is factored into the distribution agreement... as it's a factor in the marketing for the film... which favors those that open close to the end of the year for the dramatic awards... what films will make the industry look good, etc. The federal govt has an input as well on various fronts that need not be mentioned as it likes to remain covert in its influence in 'Hollywood'.
Most Americans see the awards as a fashion event tied into the usual award show special on television for the night, there are just too many of them these days, and the Academy Awards hasn't been directed well in a very long time, so it's usually a boring event, that a simple change of host most definitely cannot fix, sort of like how our central banks think more of the same will fix things. The complaints are usually by the same groups and for the same reason, but if they really want to change things, they have to produce hit, commercial product. Will Smith was just such a product for years, but the recent attempt at drama in the sports arena wasn't gonna be a hit, anyone in the industry could have told them that, and the accent thing doesn't work by a commercial actor unless they are known for it. Neither will a hit film about rap music in the inner city attract alot of votes by many in the Academy... did they seriously think it would? Now if they want a Academy Award win, just make it about Jews, as most of the owners are such and like to see images promoting themselves in the mass market.
The complaint is the same every time and they are right, in their way, every time, but if they want it, they'll have to 'play the game' like all the winners do. The subject matter has to interest the industry, most of whom remain older white jewish guys. The music industry isn't affected as much due to the membership, but that industry has a much lower bar to entry compared to the cost of film production and promotion, distribution et al. The numbers don't change as dramatically as they do in the music industry, while the tv industry is sort of in-between, but not far from the film industry, as many of them overlap. Will's wife started this lastest complaint, but if that film was a winner at the box office as a drama, then he likely would have gotten the nod, but the entire football industry was against the promotion of their main problem in public, and you know that didn't help matters, nor the lack of 'buzz', box office etc. If you are gonna take on the system, you have to learn how to win and not just tie... as ties don't count towards nominations unless you're older and been a popular part of the team for quite some time... and still have a decent part in the film. It's an expensive industry with a high bar for entry and for the maintenance of position within it, nothing works better than success... look at Donald Trump as an example... like it or not, nothing breeds success better than success.... of any color.
In closing, most of these dramas considered 'Academy Award worthy' aren't seen by half the voters... dramas can be good, but often not of interest to most of the industry that makes them, which is why the money isn't in their production, thus, not in their Academy promotion et al... It's a process, if anyone wants to win without being Jewish, you have to simply follow the same playbook and make the product something 'Academy Award' worthy for best picture.... there really aren't that many, and then perhaps some of the older members might vote for it, having seen it or not... if it becomes in industry 'event' film. Spike Lee has had this issue for quite some time as well, most of his films weren't really 'Academy Award' material as seen by many in the industry, Will Smith's latest sports film is in that same category... not sure... haven't seen it... betcha most voters haven't either.
