Cruise Bar hosted a tropical-themed opening night party, and shared pictures of the women lying covered in fruit on social media.
They wrote on their Facebook page: "Amazing night to officially launch to the public. More pics to come tomorrow!" However, members of the public weren't sure how "amazing" the party was after seeing the pictures of nude women being used as plates.
Women as edible props? We're not OK with this http://t.co/nfY913NR87 #CruiseBar @CruiseBarSydney pic.twitter.com/0jH5NX4b2q
— The Fashion Spot AU (@TFSAustralia) August 26, 2015Jane Oakley wrote on the page: "Thanks Cruise Bar for so openly showing your contempt for women and contributing to the disgusting view that women's bodies are just a utensil. I won't be coming to your venue when I'm looking for a night out."
Ulrike ZImmerman shared a similar view: "Are you out of your minds? Serving food on women's bodies is not only tasteless but is also promoting a culture where women are objectified. This is the 21st century and it is NOT ok."
This is the display tonight at the Sydney Overseas Passenger Terminal Cruise Bar - unacceptable. #destroythejoint pic.twitter.com/aasWBgSQO2
— Melanie James (@melanie_james) August 26, 2015There were scantily clad male models at the event as well, but critics were quick to point out that they were not being used as mute objects. Nora Fries wrote: "They weren't lying on their backs like slabs of meat being offered to the public. And if they were, it'd be just as disgusting. It's not the nudity. It's the objectification of the human body, and for either gender, it's sickening."
We have reached out to Cruise Bar for comment.

Good old hedonistic mankind, to hell with the fact that we're about to drive off a cliff with the pedal to the metal, just so long as everybody's having a good time.
First they see women as sex-objects, now their crockery, is there any way left in which we can debase ourselves further ?
