Society's Child
Lourenco had allegedly frightened flight attendants and other passengers when he meditated and read a sacred Tibetan text to himself just before the plane took off. The departure was delayed, and police boarded the plane and took Lourenco away for questioning.
"Police told me that I had been denounced as a terrorism suspect aboard the plane because I was reciting the Koran aloud, that I was reading a text involving words 'death' and 'bomb'," Lourenco told reporters on Thursday.
Lourenco said that he was using his tablet to read the sacred text, and the app that he was using included a timer to let him know how long he was meditating. The fact that his application had a timer was allegedly what made people think it was a bomb, but it a major stretch to assume such a thing, and an extreme overreaction.
When police arrived on the scene it should have only taken him a few seconds to explain the situation, but instead he was taken off of his flight, treated like a criminal, and detained for 6 hours. Eventually, police were able to Google his name to discover that he was a well-known actor and a practicing Buddhist, and they finally let him go.
Comment: The fear mongering is certainly working.

. . . your new series, ping the "Who Cares" network; they'll snap it up in a flash, running as they do Reality Creating Propaganda. An overwhelming viewer ship I'm told . . . :-)
I would like to see this Koran passage about bombs. (Never mind that it was a Tibetan text.)
Also, are christians who pray for a safe journey on a plane getting arrested too? Because that would be fun.
"The fact that his application had a timer was allegedly what made people think it was a bomb, but it['s] a major stretch to assume such a thing, and an extreme overreaction."
Well, of course, Assumtion is the mother of all mistakes. And most people have replaced logical thinking with making arbitrary (and usually stupid) assumptions.
Should be immediately off loaded as a nut case. Christians included.
(Also, in all seriousness, if I was on a plane and somebody started reciting the Koran, I would be laughing my ass off at the reactions of others. And no, I would not think the person is about to blow up the plane.)
"I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Point is, burning books doesn't solve anything. It will never be a lasting solution. Only by understanding them can you defeat them.
John Carpenter wrote a fictional work of horror entitled; "In the mouth of madness." It's a story about a book that drives people insane. What do you think inspired him?
Humans are quite oblivious to obvious things. One of which is that the human mind is programmed with words. That should be obvious, yet people don't get that simple fact. There's a reason propaganda exists, there's a reason these texts exist, and both can be thought of as operating in a similar way that a virus, worm, or trojan does.
Recognize this fact and ponder upon the idea that linguistics are far more complex than recognized by the average individual. Some people can read these texts and be immune to their attacks, while others have no anti-viral software programs to help them fend off their programming. That's what what these texts are, that is, they are linguistic programs which run when downloaded in to the human mind by reading them.
Notice that this is true to a certain extent for all written words. The written word can be very powerful and has a potential staying power beyond many other forms of media. These texts prove that.
While politicians and other stooges for the powers that be talk about gun control, intelligent people talk about mind control and the need to control dangerous linguistic programs. Haven't we already taken some action on this after the Second World War by outlawing National Socialism in certain nations? So it's recognized in a sense that ideas which are allowed to run, or purposely downloaded, programmed in to the minds of youth for example can result in a certain madness.
1. is stupid.
2. doesn't stop people's beliefs.
People need to be educated so that they understand what kind of garbage they're reading.

But no one blinks an eye at these horrifically bloody, death celebtating online games that they play on their phones and tablets. No, they crap their pants over a guy meditating.
Put "The Walking Dead" on the back burner. I introduce a brand new series this fall. "The Walking Brainless".
PLEASE People...Wake Up!
