An off-duty New York City police officer shot and killed her infant son and her boyfriend before she shot and killed herself, police said.

Police said they discovered the woman dead in the apartment with the infant in her arms. The boyfriend was found dead in the front doorway.

The three were discovered just before 9 a.m. in an apartment in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn.

A source familiar with the case identified the officer Rosette Samuel, 43. She had 13 years with the NYPD, mainly on the traffic task force. Within the last few months she had been transferred to the 108th Precinct in Queens.

The boyfriend was in his 30s. Her son was less than a year old.

The woman's older son, a 19 year old from a previous marriage, jumped out the back window to call for help. When police found him he was only wearing boxer shorts and a windbreaker jacket.

No motive has been released.
