OF THE
TIMES

It has become obvious that no single nation, confession, social class or even civilization can solve these problems on its own. We increasingly have to listen to one another: Europe and Asia, Christians and Muslims, White and Black peoples, citizens of modern democratic states and places where traditional society survives. The key is to understand one another correctly, avoid hasty conclusions, and acquire the true spirit of tolerance and respect toward those with different value systems, habits, and norms.
“The New Idol” in Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Nietzsche introduces the state as “the death of peoples”. “State is the name of the coldest of all cold...

HOLMES:
1. He was going #2, shall we say;
2. He certainly had a round in the chamber;
3. When his belt fell to the floor, it shot him in the back of the right thigh.
WATSON That quite... erudite.
HOLMES: Thank you, Watson. I might add that when the Yard is done with its thorough investigation, it will most likely fiind a combination of one or more of these:
- A cheap gun -or perhaps even an older Colt Model 1911* (single action semi-auto) in which he kept a round in the chamber and which left only the thumb safety which would jibe with his CLAIM of knowing about guns;
- perhaps a striker fired semi auto but less likely; and/or
- wrong holster.
You see, in the Watson, he simply violated the first and last rule of firearm safety. Never let the muzzle point at anything or anyone you are not willing to destroy. Perhaps he didn't like his thigh? Ha ha ha.
WATSON By God, I think you've got it!
HOLMES: Thank you. My pipe? My Opium? My Cocaine?
WATSON: Certainly Sir. May I join you?
HOLMES: Of course, my dear Watson.

* The older the year of manufacture the more likely as more recent Model 1911 - even when made in near original configuration, usually have additional safeties beyond the thumb safety - such as a grip safety, etc.
