At least some areas are coming 'in from the cold'.... though it seems we here in the States have just gone in deeper and deeper into the illusion from which few seem to even want to escape. Hard to escape something/one until you see them, and then see them as they are. Going the judicial route has its benefits in rational analysis that the more emotive 'kill the dictator' route doesn't have, as another one usually pops up soon enough to replace the previous one, as the underlying conditions of society haven't changed enough to permit a different route to be taken.
