Same as most Catholic churches here in the states are encouraged to be, same as their flock. Keep yourselves in debt, that's the way to do things. I wonder if this 'find' would have been announced if the state didn't have designs on taking control of it? Somebody must have heard something to encourage such a move. No doubt, the Church in Rome might be hiding a few billions in 'treasure' as well if the Italian state, in the interests of the people of course, found it necessary to seize and and sell all unaccounted for property.
Maybe the Travancore family has looked after it without looting it of its treasure, but couldn't they perhaps have done something more useful for the people than merely keep it buried? Isn't there some biblical story about that?
