I had woken up and my dog had to be taken out to pee and this happened.

NOTE: there was no planes in the sky, there was no trains, the small town of Ohio was pretty much dead.

Part 2 of this will be uploaded, and it lasted a while after I stopped recording. A good 15-20 minutes and was still going when I went back inside.

Lower Clarence residents were looking to the heavens last night after a loud, mysterious bang was heard in Maclean, Townsend, Gulmarrad, Wooli and Ashby shortly before 9pm last night.

The incident caused a stir on social media, with more than 170 comments on Maclean Buy, Swap and Sell Facebook page.

The Daily Examiner is investigating the cause of the loud bang. But with no definitive answers yet, theories being shared range from the logical such as a sonic boom from a meteorite, to the outrageous, including a UFO crash.

If you heard or saw anything from last night's big bang, tell us your story.

Earlier this week there were reports of other loud bangs following meteorite sightings across northern NSW and south-east Queensland.

Comment: The above event was on Sunday, about 6pm according to reports: Bright meteor with house-shaking sound reported over Queensland, Australia

Reports of the situation began coming into the 24 Hour News 8 newsroom around 8:30 p.m Saturday.

Emergency responders remain perplexed as to what caused the sound.

There was no weather happening at the time so the Siren idea is probably wrong. I'd love to figure this out! I live near the USAFA.

It was at 1am and lasted for approximately 15 minutes.

Comment: A viewer of the video, about 35 miles away in Fountain, Colorado, reported they heard the exact sound for about 20 minutes, close to midnight.

Question

Mystery boom befuddles authorities in Kennebec County, Maine

boom!
State police and other public safety officials say they have no explanation for a loud "boom" reported by residents of Kennebec and surrounding counties at about 9 p.m. Sunday.

The sound, described by various people as similar to an earthquake, a plane breaking the sound barrier and an explosion, prompted dozens of calls to Kennebec County dispatchers and Maine State Police, according to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

McCausland said state police dispatchers checked with the Federal Aviation Administration about whether there were any planes down, and with the National Weather Service on an earthquake. They also monitored various fire frequencies, but as of Monday morning, he said, "There's no explanation as to what residents were calling about."

Vermont police investigating source of mysterious booms

Lisa Paterson was watching television when she heard a succession of "booms" late Wednesday night. The second one was so loud it shook her house.

The incident prompted her to call Vermont State Police, and she soon learned that she wasn't the only Hartland resident to report the noises, which several people said sounded like gunshots and an even louder explosion.

"I have horses, so I was worried about them breaking out," said Paterson, who lives along Route 12 north.

Other than that, she wasn't too frightened, she said, but she certainly was curious about where the noises came from and what they were.

Amy Richardson of Richardson's Family Farm recalled hearing one "low-pitched boom," something akin to fireworks, while walking her dogs near her home on Hartland Hill around 10:45 p.m. She said the sky appeared as if it briefly lit up.

"It definitely startled me," she said.

The explosion, which state police said occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., prompted several people to take to Hartland's Listserv, including Paterson and Richardson's husband, Scott. While Paterson questioned whether others had information about the incident, some posed possible answers.

Comment: A Facebook user also reported that the boom sounded like a jet going through the sound barrier and "shook the hell out of my house" and other users reported window rattling. Tannerite used for target shooting is not likely to cause such an event.

Mystery 'explosion' rocks Gordonvale, Queensland residents

Mystery surrounds the cause of a giant "explosion" in Gordonvale that was so powerful, it felt like a small-scale earthquake.

Several residents in the vicinity of Warner and Crossland roads reported a loud bang and their homes being rocked shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday.

Some suggested it may have been a clandestine drug laboratory exploding, while others who felt the earth shake as far away as Edmonton suggested it may have been a mini-earthquake.

Emergency services do not have any record of explosions, fires or any other such event.

And Geoscience Australia has no record of any major tremors in the area, with the closest recorded earthquake in the past 24 hours as far away as the Solomon Islands.
