SOTT Focus: A deal between devils: The neo-Nazi element and the U.S.'s proxy war in Ukraine

right sector
© AFP/Ganya Savilov'Al Qaeda' in Ukraine? For decades, the US has relied on local or imported terrorist paramilitaries to win their 'proxy wars'. Ukraine's Right Sector is just the latest.
The US military hasn't actually been involved in an overt "war", in the traditional sense of a conflict between two mostly equally matched adversaries, since the end of the Korean war in 1953. As Col. Fletcher Prouty points out in his book JFK:The CIA, Vietnam, and the Plot to Assassinate John F. Kennedy, US soldiers in Vietnam were mainly fighting against 1 million North Vietnamese villagers who were 'deported' to the South (by the US Navy) where, like any dispossessed people, they resorted to theft to survive. These were the bulk of the 'Viet Cong' that the US military raped, tortured, napalmed and shot en masse. Every other US military and/or CIA 'adventure' from the 1960s until today (and there have been many) has involved one of the following three approaches:

A) a short-lived 'turkey shoot' against an impotent 'enemy' (see Iraq "war" 1, Libya 2011).

B) a protracted direct "war" of colonial expansion waged against an indigenous, largely civilian, population who resist occupation and plunder of their land (see Iraq "war" 2).

C) a 'proxy war', where paramilitary groups (either local or imported) are funded, trained and armed by CIA and US military 'advisers' (too many to list, but see here for a list) and fight local resistance groups on behalf of the USA.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: The 'Wetiko Virus' and Collective Psychosis: Interview With Paul Levy

Sott Talk Radio logo
Born in 1956, Paul Levy graduated with degrees in art and economics and has had a lifelong intense interest in the work of C. G. Jung. As a result of an intense personal trauma in 1981, he began a process of spiritual awakening that led him on a 'shamanic descent' and a quest to understand the fundamental nature of reality.

Paul is the author of: The Madness of George Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis and Dispelling Wetiko: Breaking the Curse of Evil

In his books Paul explores and explains that we 'disown' our innermost, drarkest thoughts and feelings and project them outwards onto others and the world, a process he compares to the Native American Indian concept of "wetiko". Paul has stated that "there is a contagious psychospiritual disease of the soul, a parasite of the mind, that is currently being acted out en masse on the world stage via a collective psychosis of titanic proportions. This mind-virus covertly operates through the unconscious blind spots in the human psyche, rendering people oblivious to their own madness and compelling them to act against their own best interests."

SOTT Focus: Shades of 911: US-backed anti-Russian attacks by 'Right Sector' in Ukraine sees 'jumpers' from burning building

Image
A person is seen falling from the trade unions building in Odessa, Ukraine.
Around 1,500 supporters of the Kiev authorities, accompanied by aggressive fans of the local football club, Chernomorets, tried to march through the center of the city yesterday chanting "Glory to Ukraine," "Death to enemies," "Knife the Moskals [a derogatory term for Russians]."

Many were wearing the ultra-nationalist Right Sector movement insignia that was last seen in Kiev during the supposedly "peaceful" Maidan protests in February that ousted the democratically elected President Yanukovych and installed a US-selected puppet regime.

As the Right Sector gangs started to drive the anti-coup-installed Kiev government activists back to their camp, many anti-Kiev protesters eventually hid inside the local House of Trade Unions building.

"Women and children were hiding in the Trade Union's building. First the armed men set fire to tents, then they started throwing Molotov cocktails and grenades at the building. We heard shots fired and saw smoke," an eye-witness told RT News

The first floor of the Trade Unions building was soon engulfed in flames. The people inside were trapped.

The result? At least 35 people dead, and images like these:

Another Odessa resident who survived the flames gave this first hand report:
"I was there, in the burning trade union house building. I almost suffocated... the fire brigade was taking an inexcusably long to arrive, about 20 minutes had passed, I guess it was not a coincidence. The absolute absence of the police was no coincidence either. I was helped to escape from the building by people without uniform - apparently they were ordinary civilians. The fire brigade still hadn't arrived.

The only reason there were people in that people in that building was because the "ultras" and other "Ukrainian patriots" were attacking the people from all sides with sticks, stones, chains and Molotov cocktails. There was no other place to go to escape their brutality. The people ran into the building and were trapped. The people I saw in the building were very poorly armed: sticks, bats, plank fragments, that was it. No guns or anything like that. There were many women and old people there also, they had come to downtown Odessa to offer medical help, as a doctor, I was one of them. (I emphasize: there were no military professionals, mercenaries or foreigners!).

Very soon Molotov cocktails were thrown into the window of the building, the corridor caught fire. There was a fire extinguisher, but it was completely useless against the rapidly spreading flames. Eleven of us hid in one of the rooms, everything was pitch black because of the acrid, dense smoke. Everyone dropped to the floor where some breathable air remained. Next to me there were people, groaning and praying, others trying to reach their relatives on the phone and pleading with them to call the fire brigade. At least there was an open window in our room, through which some fresh air came. The situation in the corridor was infinitely worse. We were shouting, screaming for help. None came. Later my relatives told me that either nobody from the fire brigade picked up the phone or the line was continuously busy..

After about twenty minutes a rope was thrown to us, we tied it up to a radiator and the people slowly started to climb down. Ordinary people had climbed up on to the cornices of the building and were helping us to climb down because there was a serious risk of falling. I couldn't see if anybody came down behind me, all I remember was that we heard a mobile phone ringing inside the building behind us, but its owner wasn't answering.

When I reached the ground I was given some water, the same "Maidan supporters" that had started this murderous fire began to harass me, but I managed to escape before more of these "Europe and "Democracy lovers" arrived and started to beat the people who had just narrowly missed being burned alive.

... For the first time in my life I wanted to leave Odessa and Ukraine for good."
US and European "freedom and democracy" has definitely arrived in Ukraine. Anyone who doesn't like must apparently suck it up or go to hell...literally.

SOTT Focus: 'Eppur si muove' - Like it or not, homeopathy works!

Image
"Eppur si muove" - And yet it moves - were the words Italian mathematician and physicist Galileo Galilei allegedly uttered after being sentenced by the Inquisition for heresy. Galileo's heresy was his opinion that the Sun lies motionless, that the Earth is not at the centre of universe, and that it moves. Unlike those around him who were quite happy to blindly follow dogma concerning the universal order, Galileo observed the world around him, measured different parameters and finally, after he analysed enough collected data, worked out that the Earth is moving around the Sun. Galileo was certainly luckier then Giordano Bruno, another Italian mathematician, who was burned at the stake in 1600 for advocating the same idea.

People who attack homeopathy these days do so with the same fervor as the Inquisitors. With their small, medieval minds, they repeat the same nonsense and misconceptions about homeopathy, over and over, without making the slightest effort to conduct their own research or empirical quest. I have to admit that my first reaction to homeopathy was of a similar myopic nature, my 'conventional scientific mind' immediately dismissed it as nonsense, and I had no desire to study the subject further.

Enter Spark, the appropriately named dog

But then one day Spark visited my practice and everything changed.

It took me a few moments to realize that Spark was not some strange, hairless breed I had never encountered before, but rather a West Highland Terrier. He had only a few tufts of hair remaining, mostly on his head, chest and the tip of his tail. The rest of his skin was completely bald, blackish and covered with oozing sores and scabs. I was the fourth veterinarian to see Spark. After learning his medical history and previous treatments, it became obvious that there weren't many options left to try. He had already been treated with several anti-parasitic medicines, tested for different allergies and was eating nothing but hypoallergenic dry-foods. None of this had worked. He'd also been on several types of antibiotics and steroids, as well as a course of fungicidal medicine, all to no positive effect whatsoever. In fact his health kept deteriorating.

SOTT Focus: SOTT Talk Radio: The Controversy of Zion - Interview With Gilad Atzmon

Image
Last Sunday SOTT Talk Radio talked with world-renowned Jazz musician, essayist and author, Gilad Atzmon. Touring the world with the Orient House Ensemble he founded in London in 2000, Atzmon is an outspoken critic of Israel's policies, not least towards the Palestinians and neighbouring countries.

Born in Israel and grandson to an early Zionist 'freedom fighter', to say that Atzmon's insights about Israel and 'The Jewish Question' have raised a few hackles would be an understatement! Despite receiving support from such high-profile public figures as U.S. academic John Mearsheimer and U.N. Special Rapporteur Richard Falk, Atzmon's book The Wandering Who?: A Study of Jewish Identity Politics has been roundly condemned in Western media.

Accused of being 'anti-semitic' and a 'self-hating Jew', Atzmon counters his critics by continuing to shed light on the strong taboo against questioning Israel or the involvement of high-profile Jewish figures in global 'big power games'.

In this interview Gilad reveals some fascinating information about Jewish political ideology. Don't miss it!

SOTT Focus: Western media shills for war in Ukraine on behalf of Western governments

Ukraine

The problem with wars is that you need people to believe in them so they can happen, and somebody needs to do the shooting and dying. As they say, imagine if they gave a war and nobody came. What would happen then? It's not as if our 'leaders', a gaggle of amoral assholes and clinical psychopaths, could be expected to offer themselves and their progeny for the war effort. No indeed, without the 'little people' and 'useless eaters' to fight and die for no good reason other than the personal profits of the political, industrial and financial elites, there would be no possibility of war, ever, and any attempt to manipulate the masses into a jingoistic frenzy would be exposed as the murderous conspiracy that it always has been.

Well, in the case of Ukraine, that's exactly what we are seeing unfold before our eyes.

The newly coup-imposed, non-elected, fascist, right-wing puppet Ukrainian government recently promised an "anti-terrorist operation" against the separatists of the Eastern province of Donetsk in order to avoid another Crimea situation. But things didn't quite turn out as expected.

As Guardian readers humorously put it:
'Report on progress of the war Captain ... Gave away another tank and having a picnic with the Terrorists sir'
John Kerry: "The situation is critical, Mr President, peace has broken out".
So what's a warmonger to do? Why, cook up some media manipulation and lies and get out the bag of dirty tricks, of course! It may sound familiar, but it's worked pretty well to date!

SOTT Focus: Tilting at Pipelines: Geopolitical Madness at the end of Empire

Image
Russian president Vladimir Putin recently sent a letter to 18 European countries that are consumers of Russian gas, telling them that, while Russia is eager to honor all of its energy commitments, the situation in Ukraine is getting to the "critical" point where supplies of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine may be threatened. Speaking to reporters, Putin summed up the essence of what he wrote to his EU counterparts:
Russia is acting very neatly, very considerately and respectfully towards our partners. We will certainly guarantee in full the honoring of all our obligations to our European consumers. We are not the problem, the problem is ensuring transit via Ukraine ...
What's he talking about?

SOTT Focus: SOTT Video Summary: Planetary Upheaval and High Strangeness in March 2014

Signs of the Times in March 2014

The third installment in our new monthly series, the following video compiles footage of 'signs of the times' from around the world during March 2014, connecting the dots between planetary upheaval, social upheaval, and 'cosmic weather' in the form of meteor fireball activity.

The month opened with wild waves hitting the West coast of both the U.S. and Europe, while a string of strong earthquakes 'ripped' the whole length of the Ring of Fire along the Americas. The so-called 'Polar Vortex' returned as much of North America was again plunged into a deep freeze in what seemed like the winter that would never end. Despite suffering both drought and wildfires in February, Washington state was hit with a deluge in March that caused a devastating landslide and claimed 20 lives.

Several serious explosions in apartment complexes occurred in both the U.S. and Europe. Ruptured gas pipelines are assumed to be the cause, but officially they remain unexplained. Interestingly, one of the month's many large urban environment sinkholes opened right outside the Harlem explosion that killed 8, and investigators found unusually high levels of natural methane gas in soil samples from the scene, suggesting localized methane outgassing may have played a role in the buildings' sudden obliteration.

Extreme drought was blamed for a massive die-off of animals in Colombia, yet there was record flooding in neighboring Bolivia. California somehow experienced record drought, record rainfall and record wildfires all in the same month... along with a rare tornado that damaged homes. The weird 'winter wildfire' season continued, with hundreds of wildfires breaking out across the U.S., even as the country was plunged into another deep freeze and battered with heavy rainfall from strong storms. Meanwhile a once rare event, but now occurring several times annually, saw another large tornado hit northern Italy on 23 March.

As meteor fireballs lit up the night sky in Canada, Korea and Central Europe, rare hailstorms hit the Middle East, India and South China, and high drama continued in Ukraine as Crimeans told Obama what they thought of the idea of joining the Western empire by voting to rejoin Russia instead.

In what could well be the most incredible High Strangeness event of the year, an entire commercial plane carrying over 200 people from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing apparently vanished into thin air. Despite many false leads into what might have happened, to date there is no evidence of the plane having crashed or been hijacked...
