Windsor Rumble

Windsor, Ontario. - It seemed as if the mysterious rumblings had subsided, but Sunday night through early Monday the low-pitch humming came back with a vengeance, according to Windsor residents.

"It was the loudest it's ever been," Grete MaKenzie said about the inexplicable rumblings she and thousands of Windsorites have reported hearing in the past eight months.

The 61-year-old said the noise woke her at home about 5:30 a.m. Monday.

"Last night it was really bad," said MaKenzie. "We went outside and it was almost like it was vibrating your eardrums."

A furry scourge of Reading's countryside might be back - if the legend of the Pangbourne Panther is to be believed.

Young mum Natasha Wysockyj, 23, told getreading she was "freaked out" after she was convinced she was "stalked" by a black panther while out walking with her family in woodland close to Pangbourne.

The Tadley woman was walking in the area on the evening of Monday, August 29, with her partner Richard Fiddler, 21, and their three-and-a-half-month old twins when they heard strange noises and felt as though they were being watched by something that was "big and black".

Miss Wysockyj claims the creature stopped each time the family turned around to investigate where the noises were coming from.

She said: "It definitely followed us all the way along the tree line. It was behind a wire mesh fence and part of the fence had been broken.

UFO reports increase: Most states saw August boom

UFO sightings increasing
© UnknownMany states saw a rather dramatic increase in UFO reports during August - statistics that MUFON is studying now
Reports of UFOs rose dramatically across the country over the past six weeks - although Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) International Director Clifford Clift says more data is needed over the next two months before any conclusion can be drawn.

The rise in MUFON reports - for some states - appears to have begun sometime in July 2011 and continued throughout August 2011 - and many states saw their average monthly report numbers double or triple (or more) in August.

Reached at his office today in Colorado, Clift is considering the idea that MUFON's recent international symposium and other media reports of UFO activity may have triggered a better awareness of MUFON in the general population - causing the number of reports to swell.

The following are example state monthly statistics. The first number shows the average number of UFO reports in that state for January 1, 2011, through July 31, 2011. The second number is the actual number of UFO reports from that state for the first 12 days of August 2011. The percentage is the increase between the state's average seven-month number, and the August number. This data is followed by the total number of reports so far in September, and finally if that state remains at the same rate, a predictor number for total September reports.

Guatemala: Pig 'alien' born with mutant head after UFOs seen in the sky

Pig Human Head

Residents of the South American village have decided that the pig's odd human-shaped head is the doing of visitors from outer space, after strange bright lights were spotted hovering in the sky on the night of its birth.

The poor pig, which is one of a litter of 11, has been described as looking like a cross between a human and something from the Alien movies.

Farmer Laureano Escobar Arias said: 'I was shocked - it was a really terrifying experience.

'It looked like some kind of alien creature.'

However, local health officials have suggested that there are more earthly reasons for the pig's appearance.

'We don't know for certain but it could have been caused by a genetic problem or by environmental pollution,' one commented.

Comment: Pretty bizarre, eh?

But this isn't the first time we've come across such mutations:

UFOs In Skies, Photos, and Best-Seller Lists

Earlier this year Annie Jacobsen's book Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base drew groans from skeptics and believers alike who derided her claim that the infamous 1947 Roswell crash was really a spy plane sent by Joseph Stalin, piloted by "alien-like children" created by Nazi doctor Josef Mengele intended to create a mass panic about an alien invasion.

The story was based entirely on one anonymous source without a shred of supporting evidence, which is not unheard of among UFO reports. UFO enthusiasts who prefer some documentation with their speculation might prefer journalist Leslie Kean's recent book UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record.

Kean's book topped the New York Times bestseller list - an unusual achievement for a nonfiction book about extraterrestrials. Part of the reason the book has done so well, Kean told Discovery News, is that "I'm trying to be very straightforward as a journalist, laying out what we know based on the official records. Also, many of the chapters were written by other people [including generals and former Arizona governor Fife Symington], and [former White House chief of staff] John Podesta wrote the foreword....They're not just taking my word for it, the reader gets to actually read what these authorities have to say in their own words."

There are many cases in the book -- from a UFO sighted over Chicago's O'Hare Airport in 2006 to reports from Brazil and Iran - but there's one famous UFO incident that was solved shortly after the book came out.
