Today is my youngest child's birthday. As my mother used to tell me, we always carry our children in our hearts. I know this is true emotionally. Apparently it's also true on the physical level.

Sometimes science is filled with transcendent meaning more beautiful than any poem. To me, this new research shows the poetry packed in the people all around us.

It's now known that cells from a developing fetus cross the placenta, allowing the baby's DNA to become part of the mother's body. These fetal cells persist in a woman's body into her old age. (If she has been pregnant with a male child it's likely she'll have some Y-chromosomes drifting around for a few decades too). This is true even if the baby she carried didn't live to be born. The cells of that child stay with her, resonating in ways that mothers have known intuitively throughout time.

This astounding discovery indicates that fetal stem cells are capable of differentiating into a variety of heart cell types, including "beating cardiomyocytes," and which may heal the mother's physical heart.

It appears that Nature made it possible for the unborn offspring of mammals to save their mother's lives by contributing stem cells which are capable of grafting into tissues, including bone marrow, potentially providing a lifelong source of new healthy cells to replace damaged or dysfunctional ones.

Researchers have found a new mechanism that could explain the link between social dysfunction and immune dysfunction.

More and more, we are discovering that the mind and the body are not separate. The brain is not just an ivory tower that sends orders from on high to a body that just does what it's told. The body talks to the brain, too. Indeed, a group of scientists recently discovered a two-way connection between the brain and the immune system, one that could have far-reaching implications.

For the longest time, scientists thought that the brain was totally separate from the body's immune system—recent work has shown that's not so. In the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord, there are lymphatic vessels that can drain fluid and immune cells from the cerebrospinal fluid into the deep cervical lymph nodes, which are located in the neck. Researchers identified these vessels first in mice, then found a "potentially similar structure" in humans.

Europe's first Zika-caused microcephaly baby born in Spain is first known case in Europe to go to term

Europe's first baby with the microcephaly birth defect caused by Zika has been born in Catalonia. The mother had been diagnosed with the virus in May after travelling to South America.

Physician Felix Castillo said the baby was born with a small head circumference typical of Zika and that it was "stable and has not required any specific resuscitation," according to The Local.

The child was delivered via caesarean section at Vall D'Hebron hospital in Barcelona - the first known case in Europe to go to term.

The mother is reported to have contracted Zika while in Latin America.

Alarming increase in seizure disorders among children - are vaccines to blame?

The rates of seizure disorders in children have skyrocketed in recent years, with one in 20 children under the age of five now suffering from epilepsy. Many parents know vaccines are to blame, as their children suffered seizures shortly after vaccination. Government officials say it's mere coincidence. [1]

Epilepsy is the formal medical diagnosis given to patients who suffer multiple seizures.

According to the Epilepsy Foundation, at least 326,000 children in the United States have been diagnosed with epilepsy, with an additional 200,000 cases diagnosed each year. [2]

Facts About Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a condition in which seizures occur on a repeated basis, at least "two or more unprovoked seizures," according to Johns Hopkins University. [3]

According to Sarah Shalev, MD, an epilepsy fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, "a seizure occurs when too many nerve cells in the brain 'fire' too quickly, causing an 'electrical storm.'" [4]

In the United States, about one in 100 adults live with epilepsy, and one in 20 children under the age of five are believed to have the disorder.

Surprise! More systemic corruption at the FDA

We have long documented many cases of FDA-approved killer drugs and agency interference in a person's right to natural medicine (and much of this information and more is collected in our new FDA Death Meter website, as we discuss in our lead article this week).

But when the FDA's own scientists send a letter to Congress exposing outrageous cases of retaliation against those refusing to sign off on unsafe, unproven, ineffective products, it's clear the corruption at the FDA is far-reaching and thoroughly entrenched. Pressure to approve dangerous drugs and devices is coming from top managers with ties to big business.

Can you imagine working in an atmosphere where the honest employee fears the dishonest employee, and not the other way around?

How can anyone trust the FDA's claims that a particular food or drug or medical device is safe to eat or put in or on your body, when the former director of the agency, Margaret Hamburg, has been accused of racketeering? She's charged with suppressing important information about the antibiotic Levaquin, which has caused the death of over 500 people and seriously injured 10,000 more. If guilty, why would she do this? We don't know. But according to documents filed in federal court, her husband's hedge fund held half a billion dollars worth of stock from Johnson & Johnson, the drug's manufacturer. On May 12, 2016, after it had been on shelves for years, the FDA stated that Levaquin can result in "disabling and potentially permanent serious side effects."

Birth control is the most commonly used drug in the world, with over 100 million women currently taking "the pill" and millions of women using alternative methods such as "the patch," injectables, and implants. In the US, pharmaceutical companies generate $2.8 billion in annual sales from the pill (source). Medical doctors prescribe birth control to females as young as 12 and fail to mention the potential side effects. Years later, once these children become women and learn about the threats the pill poses to their health, it can be equally as terrifying to come off the pill as it is to continue taking it due to the potential side effects.

If you're unfamiliar with the dangers of taking the pill, here's how it can harm your body:
  • It depletes your body of essential nutrients
  • Suppresses testosterone and thus your sex-drive
  • Your risk of depression doubles
  • Heightens your risk of specific cancers (breast, ovarian, and cervical), osteoporosis, stroke, heart disease, migraines, and blood clots (source)

We've been told by every media outlet that statins to lower cholesterol will save lives. Our doctors have looked us straight in our eyes and with a spirit of compassion tell us that if you don't take the statins you will die.

Over 40 million people worldwide take statins to lower their cholesterol. But now there's evidence that the majority of them won't benefit and we may in fact be witnessing the biggest lie ever to hit the general public around the globe.

To dare question most any traditional doctor about the value of statins is enough to create World War 3. If you want to see a hostile and belligerent doctor then challenge them on the statin issue. Of course you want the best for your life and your family's life. You must understand that there is a heated debate about statins. On one side of the fence you have respected and well-renowned cardiologists bowing down to the virtues of statins. However, on the other side of the fence you have esteemed and foremost experts in the field of cardiology warning us that statins MUST be avoided at all cost.

Who is right? Good question..

For Amy Schwabe and her daughter, Alex, candy can be scary. Alex is one of 15 million Americans who suffer from food allergies. In her case, eggs and peanuts must be strictly avoided to prevent a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Even things like M&Ms, which don't actually contain peanuts, are a threat because they are produced in a facility that also uses peanuts."We can never just go to a bakery or grab doughnuts," said Schwabe, who also writes the Milwaukee Allergy Mom blog, "and going to a baseball game is terrifying."

Based on recent numbers, doctors expect 4.1 million children to develop a food allergy this year.Ninety percent of cases will be to eight allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish and shellfish.
The CDC approximates the overall prevalence of childhood food allergies around 8 percent and rising, and doctors are puzzled as to why that number keeps increasing.

While there is no cure for food allergies, many experimental treatments are in the works to combat this growing problem, which puts an estimated $25 billion burden on the U.S. economy each year.

Cold sores are often known as fever blisters given their appearance. Most cold sores are caused by HSV-1, also known as Herpes Simplex Virus.

According to the World Health Organization, around two-thirds of adults aged 50 and older have HSV-1. The University of Michigan's Health Service claim 50 percent of American kindergarten-age children already have HSV-1.

Not all who have the virus show any symptoms. The Academy of General Dentistry state that only around 30 percent of those with HSV-1 will show signs of the infection, namely cold sores.

While a majority of HSV-1 cases involve oral herpes or cold sores, around 40 percent of cases involve genital sores. Although related, the genital herpes virus (HSV-2) and HSV-1 are usually unique in presentation.

Around 35 percent of expectant mothers may be at risk of pregnancy complications - such as miscarriage or preterm birth - as a result of iron deficiency. This is the conclusion of a new study published in the European Journal of Endocrinology.

Iron deficiency is a common form of anemia, arising when the body does not have enough iron - a mineral present in a number of foods, including beef, beans, nuts, whole grains, and dried fruits.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 30 percent of the global population are anemic, with most cases attributable to iron deficiency.

For adults aged 19-50 years, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recommend a daily iron intake of 8 milligrams for men and 18 milligrams for women, rising to 27 milligrams during pregnancy.
