An aggressive sea otter in California is hassling locals by riding boards she stole from surfers in the lineup.

Steamer Lane is a legendary point break nestled along the rocky shores of Santa Cruz, home to swaths of experienced surfers, as well as a 5-year-old female sea otter with a growing reputation for repeatedly confronting surfers and kayakers.

Videos across social media show the otter hoisting itself out of the ocean and onto boards while surfers sit back in awe. At times she's chewed on the boards or forced surfers to surrender their boards altogether.

Onlookers in the videos can be heard laughing in jest at surfers' misfortune, but officials with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service say the otter poses a public safety risk.

Torrential rain fell for several hours Thursday in central Mississippi, flooding roads and sending water into homes and businesses in Winston County and Louisville.

Winston County Sheriff Jason Pugh said law enforcement officers rescued three people from vehicles and removed several others from homes as the water rose.

Swift water washed one car into a ditch, and the driver escaped before the car submerged. The man stood knee-deep in the floodwater on top of his car as officers rescued him, Pugh told The Associated Press.

About 17,500 people live in Winston County. The largest town, Louisville, is about 95 miles (153 kilometers) northeast of Jackson

Magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurs off the coast of Chiapas State, Mexico

MMMMMM
A magnitude-6.3 earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Chiapas State at around 03:29 July 14. The epicenter was about 88 km (54 miles) southwest of El Palmarcito. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 35 km (22 miles), and moderate-to-light shaking was probably felt in some coastal areas of Chiapas, as well as light-to-weak shaking throughout parts of central, southern, and western Chiapas, eastern Oaxaca, and far southeastern Veracruz states in Mexico and into southeastern Guatemala.

There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely due to the offshore nature of the quake. It could take several hours until authorities can conduct comprehensive damage assessments, especially in remote areas. Moderate-to-light aftershocks are likely over the coming days. The event has not prompted any tsunami advisories.
