Massive pyroclastic flow reaches the base of Semeru Volcano, Indonesia

mmmmm
A large pyroclastic flow descends all the way to the base of Semeru Volcano in this dramatic morning eruption footage from March 20, 2026. The searing avalanche of ash, gas, and volcanic debris sweeps rapidly down the mountain, showing the immense destructive power of one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes.

Pyroclastic flows are among the most dangerous volcanic hazards on Earth. They can move at extremely high speeds and carry scorching material capable of devastating everything in their path. When Semeru produces large collapses like this, the flows often race down drainages on the volcano's flanks and can travel great distances from the summit.

Also known as Mahameru, Semeru is the highest volcano on Java and has remained one of Indonesia's most closely watched active volcanoes. This video captures a powerful and dangerous moment as a major pyroclastic flow surges from the volcano during the morning hours.

Forecasters are expecting the wild weather to continue for at least another five days, bringing flight cancellations on Thursday and dozens earlier in the week. Winds have reached around 75mph, while snow and rainfall have led to roads being closed for safety.

President of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, said: "Starting today at 3pm, the island emergency response system is put into operation to prepare for an episode of adverse weather that will affect Tenerife over the coming days."

Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi erupts, sending ash 1,000m high

mmmmm
Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted on Thursday, sending a dense column of gray ash up to 1,000 meters above its 1,703-meter peak, according to Indonesia's Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).

Herman Yosef Mboro, an official at the volcano's observation post in East Nusa Tenggara Province, said the eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 14.8 mm and lasted 130 seconds, News.Az reports, citing Xinhua.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid activities within a 4-kilometer radius of the crater and to wear masks to protect against volcanic ash.

Residents were also warned to stay alert for potential rain-triggered lava floods in rivers flowing from the volcano, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

A powerful overnight storm accompanied by heavy rain and gale-force winds killed at least 19 people in Pakistan's largest city, Karachi, and injured several others, as walls and roofs collapsed across multiple areas, according to officials and local media.

Heavy rains and strong winds lashed the port city late Wednesday and continued into Thursday, uprooting trees, damaging infrastructure and disrupting traffic, emergency services and hospital officials said, according to AP.

At least 15 bodies were initially brought to Karachi's main hospital, while more than two dozen people were treated for injuries in weather-related incidents, police surgeon Summaiya Tariq and rescue officials said.

However, the death toll later rose to 19, Geo News reported, citing multiple incidents across the city as the storm intensified overnight.

Authorities said several fatalities occurred when buildings and boundary walls collapsed under the impact of strong winds and rain.

Swaths of Nebraska are engulfed in fire, with some 800,000 acres burned and at least one person killed. The wildfires, which are the "largest wildfires in our history," according to a post on X by state's governor Jim Pillen, are being driven by a powerful heat wave across the western U.S.

Temperatures in the 80s Fahrenheit have combined with low humidity, high winds and extreme drought to increase the risk of fire in the state for at least the coming week. Already, the fires have been burning for days.

The largest of the fires, called the Morrill Fire, is less than 20 percent contained at the time of writing, according to a federal wildfire monitor. The blaze, which began on March 12, rapidly grew because of high winds. It is between about 550,000 and 643,000 acres in size. The Morrill Fire's cause remains unclear.
