'Good' versus 'bad' bombs: Shocking German newspaper commentary on Middle East

One of the largest German newspapers, Das Bild, seriously claimed that there are "good" and "bad" bombs that are being dropped on Middle Eastern countries.

According to the newspaper, the first ones were used in Aleppo by "bad" Putin whose goal is "to level the city with 300,000 residents to the ground in order to increase his personal power and that of his regime."

The good bombs, as the newspaper claims, are on the contrary used by the US and its allies in the Iraqi city of Mosul. Their motive, according to the article, is "to liberate the city of millions from the terrorist regime of Daesh."

Erica Garner, whose father was killed by New York City police in 2014, lashed out at the Hillary Clinton campaign for revelations in leaked emails that showed campaign staff discussing how to use Eric Garner's death to bolster Clinton's gun-control stance.

Garner took to Twitter on Thursday to slam an email chain among campaign staff members for the Democratic presidential candidate, part of the emails from the account of campaign chairman John Podesta revealed by Wikileaks.

In the email chain, concerning the staff's preparation of an op-ed by Clinton on gun violence, campaign press secretary Nick Merrill says, "I know we have Erica Garner issues but we don't want to mention Eric at all? I can see her coming after us for leaving him out of the piece."

On July 17, 2014, Garner, 43, was confronted by New York Police Department officer Daniel Pantaleo and other officers for allegedly selling "loosies" — untaxed cigarettes — on a street corner in Staten Island, before Pantaleo put Garner in a chokehold. Garner eventually died, repeating "I can't breathe." His last words became a slogan of numerous protests against police brutality across the nation.

The UN human rights rapporteur has accused Israel of denying Palestine's right to development thus causing rampant poverty, "epic" unemployment and economic stagnation, while illegal settlement activity is leaving hundreds of Palestinians homeless.

Over 1,100 people have been left homeless so far this year in Area C of the West Bank, as Israel demolished some 780 Palestinian homes, according to Haaretz. Area C is fully administered by Israel and comprises of some 60 percent of the total territory in the West Bank. It is the area where the Jewish settlements - illegal under international law - are located.

So far this year, Israel has destroyed 780 homes there, compared to 453 demolitions that were conducted in 2015. Last year's demolitions left some 580 Palestinians homeless, while this year 1,129 people were left without a roof over their heads.

In addition, the publication noted that further 125 Palestinian homes were also demolished in East Jerusalem since the start of the year. Last year's figures stood at 78 home demolitions. As a result, 164 Palestinians were left homeless this year in East Jerusalem. In 2015, that figure stood at 108 people.

Men are increasingly turning to virtual assistants to have sexually explicit conversations, it has been claimed.

Some teenagers and "truckers" who do not have partners are also developing feelings for female and male-voiced chatbots such as Siri, one expert said.

Ilya Eckstein, the chief executive of Robin Labs, said his company's virtual assistant - Robin - was used by some men for up to 300 conversations a day.

An American Airlines plane caught fire on the runway at Chicago's O'Hare Airport moments before it was set to depart Friday, injuring at least 20 people, officials said.

The plane blew a tire and aborted its takeoff just before the flames ignited at 2:35 p.m. officials with the Federal Aviation Administration tweeted.

Everyone aboard American Flight 383 for Miami rushed off the aircraft as firefighters rushed to the scene.

"Emergency Aircraft down at O'Hare," the Fire Department said in a statement on Twitter.

The FAA was investigating Friday afternoon.

Among those hurt, at least two people suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, Chicago's ABC News affiliate station, WLS-TV, reported.

All 161 passengers and nine crew members made it off the burning Boeing 767 jet, representatives for the airline said in a statement.

The aircraft had an "engine related issue" rather than a blown tire, according to the airline. But the FAA cited the blown tire reported by flight crew as the reason the plane ended its takeoff while rolling down the runway.

North Dakota pipeline activists say arrested protesters were kept in dog kennels

After a night of chaotic clashes with police on the front lines in a months-long protest, Native American activists complained about the force wielded to drive protesters from the path of a pipeline they contend will desecrate tribal lands and put their lone source of drinking water at risk.

Protesters said that those arrested in the confrontation had numbers written on their arms and were housed in what appeared to be dog kennels, without bedding or furniture. Others said advancing officers sprayed mace and pelted them with rubber bullets.

"It goes back to concentration camp days," said Mekasi Camp-Horinek, a protest coordinator who said authorities wrote a number on his arm when he was housed in one of the mesh enclosures with his mother, Casey.

At least 141 people were arrested Thursday after hundreds of police officers in riot gear, flanked by military vehicles releasing high-pitched "sound cannon" blasts, moved slowly forward, firing clouds of pepper spray at activists who refused to move.

Israeli deputy minister makes Yahweh look bad: Says 'Italian earthquakes were retribution for anti-Jewish UNESCO vote'

Ayoob Kara
Israeli Deputy Minister for Regional Cooperation Ayoob Kara
Two earthquakes, which struck Italy this week, were "retribution" for the country's support of the UNESCO resolution disregarding the Jewish connection to Jerusalem, Israeli Deputy Minister for Regional Cooperation Ayoob Kara said.

"I'm sure that the earthquake happened because of the UNESCO decision,"Kara, a member of the ruling Likud Party, wrote in a memo, Ynetnews website reported.

Ironically, the Israeli politician was on a state visit to the Vatican when the quakes hit central Italy on Wednesday, killing one and injuring 10 people.

Earlier the same day, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), passed a resolution criticizing Israel for its handling of the holy site in Jerusalem - called Temple Mount by Jews, and Haram al-Sharif by Muslims.

Comment: An interesting look into the mind of your average Israeli politician to be sure. Thing of it is - he's got his whole understanding of what likely attracts planetary destruction backwards!

War crime: U.S.-backed terrorists kill 6 civilians, 71 wounded in Aleppo

Jihadist militants appear to have launched a major offensive from east Aleppo, Syria, an RT crew reports from the scene. Residential areas are under heavy shelling, with at least six people confirmed killed and over 70 injured.

Alleged Al-Nusra Front fighters are trying to break through the blockade of the city, RT's Murad Gazdiev reported from Aleppo. He said at least six civilians were confirmed killed from the shelling since Friday morning, including a two-year-old boy. Dozens were injured in the attacks. The shelling targeted the Bustan al-Qasr area of western Aleppo.

The Syrian military says it is in control of the situation and has prevented the militants from breaking through or capturing any territory. The offensive comes after Russia and Syria, blamed by the US and its allies of causing civilian casualties by striking militant positions in east Aleppo, stopped sorties over the divided city. The pause in air action lasted a full 10 days.

Comment: After a barrage of Western propaganda, the Syrian Army is taking every precaution to avoid civilian casualties - even to their own detriment: "Our fighting on the outskirts of Aleppo is strictly defensive, we do not initiate any attacks in the city, the internal map of the city is still the same as it was five years ago. The Syrian army did not advance into the city despite being capable of doing that and the reason is that we do not want any civilian casualties."

Syrian FM Muallem told his Russian counterpart Lavrov: "We are still ready to resume this truce, but under a condition that we get a message with guarantees from those who support terrorism that civilians would be able to use that truce." Problem is, the terrorists and their sponsors will not give such guarantees. Those same parties then blame Syria and Russia for what they themselves are responsible for.

Comment: See also: Update: RT has a new report from Gazdiev on the attack. Not for the faint of heart:

"Some of the things we saw were heart-wrenching even by Aleppo standards," RT's Murad Gazdiev reported from the Syrian city, which remains divided between the government forces and the militants. "One man, injured by shrapnel himself, was hunkered down, rocking back and forth, clutching his two-year-old son, who had been killed and was wrapped in blankets," he said.

"We saw four children huddled and crying over the corpse of their mother. There was screaming and shouting in the corridors," added Gazdiev. He said the medical facilities in the city were quickly flooded by the victims and the Aleppo University Hospital was so crowded, it was hard for RT's crew to move about. "Paramedics rushed the new arrivals to emergency room where they had to wait for the doctors to finish with patients already there,"Gazdiev said.

Six civilians, including a two-year-old child, were killed and 75 were injured in the shelling of the Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood.

"Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda's affiliate in Syria, launched a major attack against the Syrian army just after midnight, in an apparent attempt to link up with Islamists outside the city," Gazdiev said. "The walls, the windows, the floor of the hotel where we were staying at, shook for hours and hours" as the terrorists threw everything they had at the Syrian government forces, he added. "There was the unmistakable scream of rocket artillery, mortar round explosions, the much heavier blasts caused by gas canister bombs."

The militants "used the moratorium on Russian and Syrian combat flights" and attempted to break out of eastern Aleppo, the Chief of Operations at the Russian General Staff, Lieutenant-General Sergey Rudskoy, said Friday. The attack was carried out with support of 20 tanks and 15 armored personnel carriers (APC), accompanied by heavy fire from rocket launchers and artillery. The offensive was repelled by the Syrian forces, with the terrorists losing six tanks and five APCs, Rudskoy said.

Hillary Clinton is being trolled by the hashtag #DraftOurDaughters, with fake advertisements taking her hawkish foreign policy to extremes. The hashtag trended on Twitter, with many getting riled up into joining a fake war.

Comment: #DraftOurDaughters does exactly what good satire is meant to do: It's calling attention to Killary's supreme bloodlust by proposing the types of ads that are only one or two steps removed from her reality.
