Activists from an Israeli right-wing movement, Ichud Leumi, have organized a free barbecue outside a military prison in the West Bank where Palestinian inmates are currently on hunger strike.

Members of the youth branch of the Ichud Leumi (National Union) party brought outdoor grills to the walls of Israeli-run Ofer military prison on Thursday.

The activists set up tables, brought soft drinks and cooked a variety of meats, serving it for free to everybody.

The organizers of the action said on the internet that the BBQ was aimed solely at taunting the Palestinians during their hunger strike with the smell of delicious food, the local media reported.

Four decades ago, in the mid-1970s, young American adults--in the 18-to-34 age bracket--were far more likely to be married and living with a spouse than living in their parents' home.

But that is no longer the case, according to a new study by the U.S. Census Bureau.

"There are now more young people living with their parents than in any other arrangement," says the Census Bureau study.

"What is more," says the study, "almost 9 in 10 young people who were living in their parents' home a year ago are still living there today, making it the most stable living arrangement."

The so-called 'Croydon Cat killer,' who is thought to have killed up to 230 felines, has been linked to the death of three more cats, this time in Hampshire.

Beloved cat Poppy was found dead on Easter Sunday in Marmion Road, Southsea. Poppy's owner, Tim Sparkes, warned the killer is becoming "more brazen."

"It's really about getting the message out there that this person has been around the Portsmouth area now and he appears to be doing it in clusters," Sparkes told Portsmouth News. "He's becoming more brazen, usually it's not in a road, normally it's in someone's garden. It seems to be a step up in his way in killing."

Hampshire Police said Poppy's death is linked to another two weeks earlier in Atlanta Close, Southsea, and one last year in Avenue Road, Sandown, Isle of Wight.

"We believe these incidents may be linked to Operation Takahe, a series of cat deaths in the Croydon/M25 area, and is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Service," a Hampshire Police spokesman said.

Police deployed tear gas against crowds of illegal immigrants who attempted to storm a town hall in a Paris suburb, demanding a meeting with local authorities over the rights of foreigners, French media said. At least 14 migrants were reportedly injured during the scuffles.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning in the Alfortville commune in the Paris suburbs, some 4km from the French capital.

Crowds of undocumented migrants from several communes, including the neighboring Vitry, Montreuil, and Courbevoie, headed to the town hall, Le Parisien reported.

The protesters apparently wanted to speak with local authorities and discuss the rights of foreigners. According to local newspaper 94.Cityoens, at least 200 people turned out for the protest.

The Saudi Arabia-led coalition in Yemen, backed by the UK, must be put on a UN violations list for repeated attacks on medical facilities and violating the rights of children, a new report says.

The report, by Save the Children and Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict, documents a series of deadly coalition-led attacks on hospitals and medics over the past two years.

In one case, two infants in incubators died from a lack of oxygen after a pediatric hospital in the capital Sanaa was damaged in a coalition airstrike.

More than 160 attacks have been carried out by parties to the conflict throughout Yemen, the report says, including the damaging of medical facilities through airstrikes, occupation and looting of hospitals, and extortion, detention and killing of medical staff.

Lauren Kirk-Coehlo pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony vandalism and hate crime enhancements for vandalizing the Davis Islamic Center in January.

The Davis woman entered her plea in Yolo Superior Court in Woodland hours before she was to face a preliminary hearing on the charges related to the Jan. 22 incident.

Kirk-Coehlo, 30, was arrested Feb. 14 on suspicion of breaking six of the Davis mosque's windows, damaging several bicycles at the mosque and wrapping pork around the handle of one of the mosque's exterior doors, Davis police said. Muslims are forbidden to eat or touch pork.

"We welcome the plea. We hope this sends the message that committing hate crimes doesn't pay off," said Saad Sweilem, civil rights attorney for the Sacramento Valley chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "For our community, it gives a lot of comfort that there are consequences to these actions and that we are being protected."

The man suspected of detonating a bomb on the St. Petersburg metro earlier this month had received money from an "international terrorist group" in Turkey, Russian investigators said on Thursday. Judge on the case ruled that the suspect received money from a terrorist group participant in Turkey for the preparation of the terrorist act.

During the hearing, Akram Azimov, the elder brother of suspected organizer of the terrorist act in the St. Petersburg metro Abror Azimov, denied any involvement in the subway blast, a Sputnik correspondent reported from Moscow's Basmanny Court on Thursday.

"I'm not involved in the terrorist attack," the suspect, who is charged with direct participation in the terrorist act, said.

An investigator in the court said Thursday that Akram testified against his brother Abror.

Comment: RT adds:
The investigators also found out that Akram traveled to Turkey twice over the past year. The suspect himself denies any involvement in the attack.

Earlier, the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Aleksandr Bortnikov, confirmed that Russian investigators had managed to identify the mastermind behind the St. Petersburg Metro attack.

However, he did not offer any additional details about the organizer or their links to individuals currently under investigation.

Three years after IDF assault that ended their careers, ex-soccer players call on FIFA to protect Palestinian rights

Adam Jamous and Jawahar Halbiyeh will never forget their last ever soccer practice, even if it was three years ago. It was nearing the end of winter on the last day of January — they were tired and it was late. Their hometown, in a section of occupied Jerusalem that lies on the West Bank side of the separation wall known as Abu Dis, is usually quiet by 10:30 when they were walking home. The sharp whiz of the first bullet cracking through the air came as a surprise.

Israel accused the boys of throwing stones, but Jawahar told Mondoweiss the teens did not even know there were soldiers out that night. "There were no clashes," Jawahar told Mondoweiss. "We didn't know there were soldiers out. The streets were quiet, they had put up a small checkpoint, but we had no warning, they just shot."

Adam was hit, and fell to the ground, his soccer gear thumped down on the uneven road just a few blocks from home. Jawahar lifted his younger teammate and lifelong friend, following his instincts to get them out of the line of fire, only to hear more cracks of gunfire being shot toward them. Jawahar was hit several times, but fueled by adrenaline, he kept trying to drag himself and Adam to safety. Soldiers kept shooting and Jawahar kept moving. By the time Israeli forces released the dogs that eventually took the two teens down, Jawahar had been shot eleven times, and Adam three.

10 y.o. autistic boy arrested and locked in a psych ward for 3 days after kicking a teacher - UPDATE

child arrest
John Haygood has autism. As a result of his autism, he often acts out at school — a school that is apparently too unqualified to deal with him. Because they are like most schools in America today, officials turned to police force to solve their problems for them, instead of helping the 10-year-old boy.

This week, two Okeechobee County sheriff's deputies ambushed the little boy on his first day back at school since the incident last November. Instead of going to his home and talking to his parents, police waited until the child came to school to handcuff him in front of all of his peers.

"To go and have him arrested on school grounds in front of other students, in front of personnel, during school hours, they could've come to my house at any time to tell me what was going on," the boy's mother, Louanne Haygood said.

In November of last year, John was suspended and homebound after an incident in which he became overly upset and kicked a paraprofessional. Instead of working out a plan to make sure this never happens again, the school called the cops and a warrant for felony battery on a school official was issued for the 10-year-old boy.

Comment: The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick and the needy, and the handicapped. ~Hubert Humphrey

Update: The boy's mother, Luanne Haygood, spoke to RT about the incident, observing that the police involved obviously weren't trained. They didn't respond to anything she said that might have helped the situation.
