Left-wing non-profit SPLC transfers millions to offshore tax havens, generously rewards key executives while spending little on legal services

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a liberal, Alabama-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization that has gained prominence on the left for its "hate group" designations, pushes millions of dollars to offshore entities as part of its business dealings, records show.

Additionally, the nonprofit pays lucrative six-figure salaries to its top directors and key employees while spending little on legal services despite its stated intent of "fighting hate and bigotry" using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is perhaps best known for its "hate map," a collection of organizations the nonprofit deems "domestic hate groups" that lists mainstream conservative organizations alongside racist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and is often referenced in the media. A gunman opened fire at the Washington, D.C., offices of the conservative Family Research Council in 2012 after seeing it listed as an "anti-gay" group on SPLC's website.

The SPLC has turned into a fundraising powerhouse, recording more than $50 million in contributions and $328 million in net assets on its 2015 Form 990, the most recently available tax form from the nonprofit. SPLC's Form 990-T, its business income tax return, from the same year shows that they have "financial interests" in the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Bermuda. No information is available beyond the acknowledgment of the interests at the bottom of the form.

Description of Croydon cat killer released by the police

© Konrad Wothe/Getty Images/LOOKThe charity Snarl is urging people not to let their cats out at night, when most of the killings have taken place.
The first description has been released of a suspected serial cat killer who has eluded police for almost two years.

The culprit is behind the death and mutilation of about 250 cats, as well as dozens of foxes and rabbits, since October 2015, according to South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (Snarl).

He was originally known as the "Croydon cat killer", but as bodies began to turn up in other areas of London and beyond the capital, the charity urged people to drop the label. He then became known as the "M25 cat killer" but attacks have since occurred as far afield as Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton and the Isle of Wight.

The description of the individual believed to be behind all of the attacks has been published on the Snarl website. He is said to be a white man in his 40s with short brown hair, dressed in dark clothing, possibly with acne scarring to his face. It also says he may be wearing a headlamp or carrying a torch.

The remains found in the house of one of the four men accused of murder in Estcourt's "cannibal" case are believed to be those of Shayamoya resident Zanele Hlatshwayo (25), who is the mother of two-year-old son.

Estcourt police arrested four men on Friday last week for allegedly killing a person and eating their flesh. Police allegedly found an arm and a leg at the house of Estcourt's nyanga, Nino Mbatha, who was among the four men arrested.

Mbatha (32) and his co-accused, Sthembiso Sithole (31), Lindokuhle Masondo (32) and Lungisani Magubane (30), appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder after one of the four men allegedly walked into the Estcourt police station on Friday, holding human body parts and confessing to being "tired of eating human flesh".

Hlatshwayo's bloodied and torn clothes, which were found among the human remains in Mbatha's home, were positively identified on Monday afternoon by her family, although police are awaiting DNA results to confirm the remains are indeed Hlatshwayo's.

Propaganda Alert! Innocent Bangladesh Rohingya Muslim refugees fleeing Evil Burma Regime

Approximately 18,500 persecuted minority living in squalid camps in neighbouring state after suffering government-sponsored violence in homeland

In recent days, thousands of Rohingya Muslims in Burma, have made their way to neighbouring Bangladesh, fleeing an aggressive Burmese military campaign that ravaged dozens of villages in the country's restive state of Rakhine. An official from the International Organisation for Migration told reporters at least 18,500 Rohingya refugees have crossed the border in the past six days, joining the nearly 400,000 Rohingya already housed in squalid camps in Bangladesh.

The Rohingya are quite simply one of the most helpless and forsaken peoples of the world. An ethnic minority disdained by the Burmese public and ignored by the Burmese government, the Rohingya do not have full citizenship rights. About 1.1 million Rohingya live in apartheid-like conditions in northern Rakhine. They need to seek official permission to marry or even travel outside their villages.

Despite the fact that the vast majority of Rohingya families have called Rakhine home for generations, the government views them as "Bengali" interlopers from across the border. Bangladeshi authorities, meanwhile, have struggled to cope with the influx, frequently turn away Rohingya civilians seeking entry and do not view them as formal refugees.

Comment: In other words, 'this is not another proxy jihadi operation to satisfy Saudi/Western interests, but we can quickly make it one if the Burmese govt doesn't bend to our will'.

The US has extended a European travel alert for its citizens, warning that terrorists continue to focus on tourist sites as attack targets, and that those traveling to the continent should "exercise additional vigilance" around such areas.

The alert, issued Thursday, cites "widely reported incidents" in France, Russia, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Finland, adding that the State Department "remains concerned about the potential for future terrorist attacks."

It goes on to state that extremists are continuing to focus on "tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, and local government facilities as viable targets.

"In addition, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, high-profile events, educational institutions, airports, and other soft targets remain priority locations for possible attacks."

The alert warns US citizens to "exercise additional vigilance in these and similar locations," adding that terrorists are using a variety of tactics in their attacks, including firearms, explosives, vehicles, and sharp-edged weapons which are "difficult to detect prior to an attack."

Ukraine's EU association deal bittersweet with no real hope for integration

Friday marks the day when the association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union officially comes into force. With many regulations already in place, and other changes coming, RT tried to find out whether Kiev can hope for real integration with Europe.

The political part of the agreement has been around since September 1, 2014, and the economic part de-facto worked from January 2016. However, it took a while before the agreement was adopted in the EU.

After Brussels assured the Netherlands the deal wouldn't give Ukraine automatic membership of the EU, and that Kiev will not be able to receive funding from the EU and will not become a part of its defense programs, the agreement was eventually given the green light. The temporary status now becomes permanent.

"The agreement on the association of Ukraine with the EU is a package of 486 articles, 311 of which regulate trade and issues related to trade," explains Evsey Vasilyev, Deputy Director General at an independent Russian political consultancy Strategic Communications.

"In fact, we are talking about an expanded free trade zone. The EU has the same deal with thirty other states around the world, including Latin America, North Africa, the Middle East, as well as Albania, Kosovo, South Africa and South Korea," he added.

Crimean ex-prosecutor Poklonskaya dismisses reports of Russian presidential ambitions

Russian MP and former chief prosecutor of the Crimean Republic Natalya Poklonskaya has dismissed media speculation that she could run for the presidency in 2018, adding that she had no information about any other woman who wants to run.

The comments came after Russian business daily Vedomosti published an article quoting unnamed sources in the Russian presidential administration as saying the Kremlin was allegedly considering running a female politician as a competitor to Vladimir Putin in the 2018 presidential race.

As well as Poklonskaya, other possible candidates Vedomosti mentioned for the role were Senator Elena Mizulina and editor-in-chief of the Russian version of the L'Officiel magazine Kseniya Sobchak.

In comments with the Dozhd television channel, Poklonskaya called the claims "rubbish" and said that she "knew nothing about the things the reporters were writing about."

Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov also refuted the allegations. "No one in the Kremlin has thought about it," he told reporters on Friday.
