Mother seeks answers after discovering her newborn baby's coffin was empty 40 years after his death

A mum is demanding new DNA tests after she discovered her son's coffin was empty when it was exhumed decades after the tot died.

Lydia Reid has been pushing for answers for more than 40 years and is now demanding that tissue taken from her son, Gary Paton, shortly after he died be analysed to confirm they really were his remains in the first place.

Lydia Reid gave birth to her son in July 1975, with the tot dying seven days later.

But the distressed mum said she believed she had been handed the wrong baby at Scotmid Co-operative Funeral.

The mystery deepened when she successfully campaigned to have his body exhumed decades later - only to find in September this year that the coffin had been buried with no body.

She said: "My son wasn't there. Someone stole the body of my son. I had buried my empty coffin."

An MSNBC reporter recently received a real world lesson in why President Trump's promised border wall is crucially important to stop illegal immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border.

A reporter covering prototypes of Trump's proposed border wall taking shape near San Diego, when the interview was interrupted by a group of "migrants" hopping over the existing fence.

"What happened?" the reporter shouted as a group of agents on horseback move in to nab the border jumpers. "The people are crossing!"

"Almost on cue, a group of asylum-seekers, migrants not from Mexico, jumped over the existing fence to turn themselves in to border agents on horseback," the reporter narrated.

"It's like, a small group of three people jumped over in the middle of the day," he told a border patrol agent he was interviewing. "There's a girl there in a pink backpack. Can you explain to me what's going on?"

German quality newspaper "Die Welt" published an article about a "no go-zone" in the centre of Cologne. Is it really that bad? When Cologne's mayor says "police have given up on the area", the answer is probably yes.

We're talking about the "Ebertplatz" here, an inner city square at the heart of Cologne that connects several streets. According to German newspaper "Express" the place is a popular location for African migrants who live nearby to deal drugs. The police call it a hotbed of crime as several police interventions didn't change a thing. Some of Cologne's inhabitants even call it an "angstraum", a fearful place.

A week ago a young African man was stabbed to death at the place by fellow Africans. Earlier a TV-production had to be cancelled because the crew was threatened by drug dealers. One of Sony's producers said that "young girls were especially scared and serious threats were disrupting the scenes".

A policeman's deathbed confession may have cracked the mystery of Belgium's 'Brabant Killers' who left 28 people dead in a spate of violent robberies in the 1980s.

Police have been working on a lead that could finally reveal the identities of the Nivelles Gang, who embarked on a three-year killing and robbery spree around Brabant in Brussels.

The group, which consisted of members nicknamed The Giant, The Killer and others, committed more than a dozen robberies in supermarkets and stores, which saw them shoot customers and staff, leaving many injured and traumatized.

The group's final robbery took place in 1985 when they killed eight people in a raid on a store after entering wearing disguises and face paint.

The Belgian Authorities, which are taking these revelations very seriously, consider that this former police officer of an elite squad (Diane), fits the police sketches at the time. Checks confirm that he was not physically present at work when many attacks took place. The Belgian Investigating Judge is interrogating all the former colleagues of the deceased suspect. The witness also revealed that two other former members of Squad Diane came to visit the suspect at his home.

Moral judgment of drug users overrules solutions that fight overdoses and halt the spread of disease.
Back when he was governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, after much praying and pressure, relented and signed legislation that permitted counties to establish needle exchange programs if they could show they were having an HIV or hepatitis C epidemic.

Rural Indiana was indeed having such an epidemic at the time, and even the sheriff of Scott County, where the number of new HIV cases had seen a dramatic increase, determined that a needle exchange program was needed. He told Pence as much.

After the needle exchange program began, Scott County saw a notable drop in new HIV cases. It has been a small but important success as America figures out how to deal with an increase in heroin use.

But those efforts are potentially at risk now. Two counties in Indiana have shut down their relatively new needle exchange programs, expert advice and actual outcomes be damned.

French court blocks parents from naming their son 'Jihad'

A couple in France have been reported to the authorities for trying to name their son Jihad - sparking a wave of controversy.

The Muslim parents tried to register the name at their town hall near Toulouse after the birth in August, according to local reports.

But officials immediately alerted the public prosecutor, who is now challenging the name in the family court because of its links to terrorism.

A judge will then have the power to order the couple to choose another name.

The family claim the name does not mean Holy War - but rather effort, struggle and self-denial.

Four years ago another couple whose three-year-old son was named Jihad were handed suspended prison sentences for sending him to school in a t-shirt with the slogans 'I am a bomb' on the front and 'Born on 9/11' on the back.

Poll finds 'vast majority' of Americans believe Russia probe is a waste of time

The vast majority of Americans believe that investigations into claims that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election are hurting the country, according to a new Harvard-Harris poll.

The October survey found that 63 percent of respondents believe the investigations are hurting the US, while just 37 percent believe that they are helping.

There is a sharp split along partisan lines, with most Republicans (79 percent) saying that the probes were hurting the nation, compared to 49 percent of Democrats.

Thousands of anguished libs in Boston and Philadelphia will be taking part in scream fests on Nov. 8 to commemorate the anniversary of Donald Trump's election. Liberals in other cities around the country are likely to step up to the crazy plate as well as the big day draws near.

Over 4,000 Facebook users in the Boston area have RSVP'd to attend the event they're calling "Scream helplessly at the sky on the anniversary of the election." Another 33,000 have expressed interest in attending the event at the 383-year-old Boston Common.

The organizers say in a Facebook post: "Come express your anger at the current state of democracy, and scream helplessly at the sky!"

The shocking video footage - which Mirror Online has edited - shows Mr Uzun speaking to the camera and unleashing a lengthy tirade of abuse against his family before putting a handgun to his head.

He pulls the trigger on the count of three after saying his final words: "Goodbye, I am leaving, take good care of yourselves."

Mr Uzun then immediately collapsed to the floor.
