Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has sparked outrage by evoking the Holocaust as he attacked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for opening the country's borders to migrants.

"One cannot -- even if there are decades between them -- kill millions of Jews so you can bring millions of their worst enemies in their place," he told a French television show.

"I know someone in Germany who took a young Syrian and after four days said, 'The greatest thing Germany invented was the Holocaust,'" he added.

Several hundred people lodged official complaints about Lagerfeld's comments, the French media regulator said Monday after he appeared on the "Salut les terriens!" (Hello Earthlings!) talkshow on the C8 channel on Saturday.

The veteran Chanel designer, who was born in Hamburg just as Adolf Hitler came to power, had earlier lambasted Merkel for taking more than one million asylum seekers since the migrant crisis of 2015.

Residents in the Grenfell Tower borough are suffering from tuberculosis and rickets, Kensington's MP has warned in a shocking report on inequality affecting the UK's richest local authority.

Labour's Emma Dent Coad warned Victorian illnesses were returning due to devastating poverty levels affecting some of Kensington's roughly 160,000 residents.

The damning report, titled "After Grenfell: Housing and Inequality in Kensington and Chelsea", found multiple instances of children being admitted to hospital with hypocalceamic shock that caused them to collapse due to a lack of calcium.

The findings were particularly stark in the northern Golborne ward, where Ms Dent Coad was a councillor, with 51 per cent of children living in poverty and the average life expectancy for a man more than 20 years lower than in Hans Town ward where Harrods is situated.

A Democratic state senator who accused President Donald Trump of sexual harassment is now facing calls to resign after facing multiple sexual harassment allegations of his own.

Several women accused Minnesota state Sen. Dan Schoen of "persistent and unwanted" invitations to meet and allegations that Schoen grabbed them from behind and sent them photographs of male genitalia on social media, the MinnPost reported.

Schoen, a first-term senator who previously served in Minnesota's state house, knew of each alleged incident when the MinnPost approached him for comment, but called the allegations either false or taken out of context.

"It was never my intention to leave the impression I was making an inappropriate advance on anyone," Schoen told the MinnPost. "I feel terrible that someone may have a different interpretation of an encounter, but that is the absolute truth. I also unequivocally deny that I ever made inappropriate contact with anyone."

Vaccination papers, please: Cops harass mom at bus stop and grill her on son's immunization status

A particularly disturbing video was submitted to the Free Thought Project this week showing the Orwellian implications of state-mandated vaccination laws. Porsha Rasheed was simply walking her six-year-old son to the bus stop last week when she was approached by a Claremont police officer and a representative of the school district and harassed in an attempt to find out the vaccination status of her child.

Rasheed, who appears to be well-informed of her rights, did the right thing and filmed the interaction and also refused to answer their questions. However, it does not take away from the sheer ominous nature of this type of activity.

On June 30, 2015, California governor Jerry Brown signed SB 277 effectively stripping the personal and religious belief exemptions for parents who choose not to vaccinate their children. The law went into effect in 2016 and required that all children entering daycare, kindergarten, or 7th grade to be vaccinated unless they have a medical exemption.

Now, it appears that the enforcers of this recently enacted law are going to extreme lengths to do their job of forcing compliance-up to and including staking out parents as they drop their kids off at the bus stop.

In true Stasi-esque fashion, the officer and the school official approached Rasheed and demanded she show them her papers.

A man has apparently shot himself in the penis by accident after allegedly robbing a hot dog restaurant.

Terrion Pouncy, 19, is recovering in hospital after the incident at the Original Maxwell Street Polish, near Halsted St, in Chicago, on Tuesday.

He had apparently tried to put his small-caliber pistol in his trousers after he stole money, a smartphone and wallet when he threatened two workers at around 6am, the Chicago Tribune reported.

But something went wrong as he ran from the takeaway and he ended up with a gunshot wound to the groin and thigh, court papers said.

He didn't manage to get far with the injuries and decided to phone emergency services a short time later and tell them he was shot, according to court documents.

Hot tempered cops losing their cool and beating up or otherwise hurting innocent or non-violent suspects is a regular occurrence that we frequently report on here at TFTP. However, body camera footage was just released highlighting this tendency of some cops to leave behind professionalism and their temper. This time though, their victims weren't innocent civilians-this time, they attacked each other.

Like a pack of rabid dogs, Detroit cops from two different precincts found themselves in the same house last Thursday and then turned on each other. Now, two Detroit Police officers are off the streets and a supervisor has been removed from special operations because the cops nearly killed each other inside this person's home.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig told WXYZ this could have ended with deaths and could also result in criminal and administrative charges.

Craig said he is going to turn over findings to the prosecutor for possible assault charges, as some officers threw punches.

Media Matters defends Democrat Bob Menendez but attacks Republican Roy Moore over same sexual assault allegations

Sex with a minor is not just illegal. It's wrong.

So too is rape. Sexual assault.

Then as the Roy Moore case unspools, it is reasonable to ask: Since Media Matters is giving these 38-year old allegations so much prominent play (and Moore denies them) - why did MM spend so much time defending Hillary Clinton - the enabler of Bill's behavior that resulted in allegations of rape and sexual assault? And why the hasty leap to the side of New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez - he too denying Moore-like charges of sex with underage girls.

What we have here is a massive hypocrisy. There is one Media Matters standard for Menendez and another for Moore. In the Menendez case Media Matters notes that in reaction to a story originating in the Daily Caller that said the Senator had paid young women for sex "Menendez has consistently denied the allegations...". So too has Moore, as reported here at ABC News.

"Controversial Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore denied a Washington Post report Thursday that he engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl in the late 1970s, as prominent Republicans began to question whether he should remain in the race."

Don't call the cops if you're living in a police state

Life in the American police state is an endless series of don'ts delivered at the end of a loaded gun:
  • don't talk back to police officers,
  • don't even think about defending yourself against a SWAT team raid (of which there are 80,000 every year),
  • don't run when a cop is nearby lest you be mistaken for a fleeing criminal,
  • don't carry a cane lest it be mistaken for a gun,
  • don't expect privacy in public,
  • don't let your kids walk to the playground alone,
  • don't engage in nonviolent protest near where a government official might pass,
  • don't try to grow vegetables in your front yard,
  • don't play music for tips in a metro station,
  • don't feed whales,
  • and on and on.
Here's another don't to the add the growing list of things that could get you or a loved one tasered, shot or killed, especially if you are autistic, hearing impaired, mentally ill, elderly, suffer from dementia, disabled or have any other condition that might hinder your ability to understand, communicate or immediately comply with an order: don't call the cops.

Sometimes it's dangerous enough calling the cops when you're not contending with a disability.

Unfortunately, the risks just skyrocket when a disability is involved.

Nancy Schrock called 911 for help after her husband, Tom, who suffered with mental health issues, started stalking around the backyard, upending chairs and screaming about demons. Several times before, police had transported Tom to the hospital, where he was medicated and sent home after 72 hours. This time, Tom was tasered twice. He collapsed, lost consciousness and died.

Comment: As the militarization of the police forces continues, expect to see more incidents of police violence. While there may be some police that are not inherently bad, the culture surrounding the police is such that those that aren't predisposed to violence and corruption are quickly weeded out, leaving psycho killer cops trained by the IDF to repress and brutalize the public instead of protecting them.

A group of Russian researchers have decided to call out TV shows about clairvoyants for promoting fake science.

The group, led by scientist Alexander Panchin and sceptic Mikhail Lidin, say they will use the latter's YouTube channel to "show viewers why they shouldn't believe everything they see on their TV screens," Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper reports.

They are the people behind Russia's Harry Houdini Prize, which regularly invites the stars of psychic shows to replicate their feats under controlled conditions for a prize of one million roubles ($17,000; £13,000).

Heat, mold, rats and lack of medical care: Former workhouse inmates sue city of St. Louis over hellish and inhumane conditions

Seven former inmates of the St. Louis Medium Security Institution, commonly known as the workhouse, sued the city Monday claiming that inadequate ventilation, medical care and sanitation create "hellish and inhumane conditions" and violate inmates' constitutional rights.

The suit, filed by the nonprofit ArchCity Defenders law firm in U.S. District Court, says that St. Louis officials have ignored the problems for years. It seeks a judge's order that would close the workhouse or fine the city $10,000 per day until problems are fixed.

St. Louis Corrections Commissioner Dale Glass declined to comment about pending litigation Monday. But he rejected claims about mold and infestations of insects or rodents, and said guards were not being bitten by snakes and inmates were not being bitten by spiders.
