Walt Disney Animation and Pixar chief John Lasseter has reportedly taken a six-month leave of absence following reports of sexual misconduct towards employees at the company.

In a memo announcing his temporary departure to company employees, Lasseter alluded to the allegations. The statement, which has been seen by Reuters, reads: "I've recently had a number of difficult conversations that have been very painful for me. It's never easy to face your missteps, but it's the only way to learn from them."

"As a result, I've been giving a lot of thought to the leader I am today compared to the mentor, advocate and champion I want to be. It's been brought to my attention that I have made some of you feel disrespected or uncomfortable. That was never my intent."

Affirmative action is racist: DOJ investigating Harvard for discriminating against Asian-Americans

Donald Trump's Justice Department is said to to be investigating the use of race in Harvard University's admissions policies and has accused the world-renowned Ivy League school of not cooperating with the probe.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the DOJ is looking into allegations that formed the basis for a 2014 lawsuit, which claimed the university's admissions practices discriminated against Asian-Americans and violated US civil rights law. The suit is still pending.

In a 17 November letter, the department wrote that Harvard was being probed under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 due to allegations that it was using race as a deciding factor in its admissions decisions, according to the Journal.

Title VI bars discrimination on the basis of race, colour and national origin for organizations that receive federal funding.

The DOJ also said Harvard had failed to meet a 2 November deadline to show documents related to the university's admission procedures and policies. If it does not hand over documents by 1 December, the department said it "may file a lawsuit" to force Harvard to comply.

Harvard has reportedly provided the documents being sought by the DOJ to the plaintiffs in the suit.

Comment: It's Harvard's own fault (and all other universities following affirmative action guidelines, by extension). They didn't have the integrity to refuse "progressive" policies pushed by a bunch of brainless ideologues. So, in an effort to curb racism by filling quotas based on race, inevitably they have ended up excluding applicants based on race - doing exactly what they were allegedly trying NOT to do. The SJW mindset eats its own, all in the name of "diversity". There's a simple solution: accept those who are most qualified, regardless of race.

Delhi police will deploy a female motorbike squad in the streets of the Indian capital to safeguard women in a city considered one of the worst places in the world for sexual violence and gang rape.

The patrol squad, called 'Raftaar' (speed in English), will deploy specially trained female officers on 600 motorbikes starting from December, according to Indian media. The motorcycle crews will consist of two officers each.

The officers will be equipped with body cameras, helmet bullhorns, pepper spray, and Taser guns, in addition to their standard-issue sidearms, the Hindustan Timesreports. They will serve as rapid response units patrolling the crowded, narrow streets of Delhi.

In some neighborhoods, the lanes are so narrow that it is difficult for a police car or van to pass if when responding to a call. The proximity of people in these alleyways also makes it easier for perpetrators to sexually harass women.

A female nurse is facing jail after she posed as a male doctor on social media and dating websites, and even used voice-changing software to trick women into sending her explicit texts and photos.

Adele Rennie, 27, worked at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, Scotland. She confessed to 18 charges in total, including stalking charges, sexual offences, data-protection breaches, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Rennie used multiple fake names to trick nearly a dozen women over a four-year period into sharing information and photos with her. One of the pseudonyms she used was 'Dr David Graham.'

Comment: A reminder that predators can come in all shapes, sizes, and genders.

In the U.S. 'some scandals are too big to acknowledge'

American Empire
Some scandals are too big to acknowledge.

The fundamental issue involving the Russiagate scandal is something Noam Chomsky said about Nixon somewhere. Richard Nixon didn't get the boot because he plunged Chile into fascism or bombed Cambodia or sided with Pakistan while its dictator was slaughtering people in Bangladesh. He got kicked out because one powerful faction in US politics, Republicans, broke the rules operating against another powerful faction, the Democrats. That is bad, but one would think mass murder is worse. Not, however, if you live in a superpower. The rules are different for people who are powerful. This is true in any system, whether Hollywood, the Beltway, or the Kremlin.

Billionaire Democratic donor puts up 'Impeach Trump' billboards in Times Square

For 10 minutes out of every hour through to New Year's Eve, billboards on Times Square will direct passers-by to a website where they can sign a petition calling for US President Donald Trump's impeachment.

Over 350,000 people walk across Times Square each day, one of the busiest pedestrian zones in the world. It will only get busier on New Year's Eve, when up to a million people will go to watch the countdown. They might also catch a glimpse of the billboards paid for by billionaire Democratic Party donor Tom Steyer. The billboards direct their viewers to Steyer's website, needtoimpeach.com, where they can sign a petition asking Congress to take action against the Commander-in-Chief.

"We're putting a couple of large billboards in Times Square calling for the impeachment of the president," Steyer, who put $20mn toward the campaign, told Bloomberg on Monday. "We legitimately feel that this is the huge issue in front of the American people that no one is standing up for what the overwhelming number of Americans think."

Comment: In order to be impeached, Trump has to have broken a law. He has not broken a law, not been indicted by a grand jury or charged by any law enforcement agency for criminal activity nor has Congress charged him with treason. So that makes Steyer just another unhinged liberal who wants a president impeached because he doesn't like him. Well too bad. Also, the election showed that the majority of Americans wanted Trump as president, so despite what Steyer and his vocal minority liberals think, most people want Trump as president. He should use all his hundred dollar bills to wipe the tears away and get on with life.

Flat-earther prepares for takeoff in homemade rocket to debunk 'round world myth'

A self-styled mad scientist is preparing to launch himself into orbit in a homemade rocket in a bid to prove the Earth is flat.

'Mad' Mike Hughes, a 61-year-old limo driver, who has spent years building his own steam powered rocket, says this Saturday he will make it jump over Amboy, California - a Route 66 ghost town.

Hughes' blast off is an attempt to raise media attention ahead of a more ambitious venture - to travel to the edge of space.

On his Facebook page Hughes clarified there were further plans for a $1.8 million project to catapult him to the the Karman line - widely accepted as the start of space. He added a fuel tank and propulsion system were already in place to make this happen and it would offer "one true way to prove a flat earth."

Comment: Hopefully 'Mad' Mike comes back to reality...and with a better grip.

Flashback American teacher recounts experience laboring in Chinese jail after being charged with theft

Stuart Foster forced labor China
© Stuart FosterFoster worked as a sociology professor at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in southern China for a total of five years before he was charged with theft and sent to jail.
Prisoner 1741 spent more than seven months inside a jail in southern China, assembling Christmas lights for export to America. Work days stretched up to 10 hours and conditions were tough, he says. One boss used strands of Christmas lights to whip workers and drive production.

Stories about forced labor have trickled out of China over the years, but what makes Prisoner 1741's so remarkable is that he isn't Chinese. He's American. In fact, he's a middle-aged, American sociology professor from South Carolina.

Stuart Foster's odyssey inside the Chinese penal system began in April of last year, when police in the city of Guangzhou took him to jail on theft charges. Foster had confessed to taking a large sum of money from an American colleague at a local university.

Comment: The indignities and abuse that Foster suffered in the Chinese jail aren't that dissimilar to the conditions that millions of Americans are enduring in the US prison system:

A US Navy aircraft has crashed into the Philippine Sea with 11 crew and passengers on board. In a statement, the US 7th Fleet commander says a search operation is underway involving the USS Ronald Reagan.

Eight of the missing have been found, they have been transferred to the USS Ronald Reagan and are said to be in good condition. A search is continuing for the three missing people.

The aircraft went down southeast of Okinawa at approximately 2:45pm local time on Wednesday. The US Navy says the names of those involved are being withheld until their family and next of kin can be notified.

Comment: The US is obviously having a hard time piloting their planes and captaining their ships even under 'normal conditions'. Perhaps they should take that as a sign to pack up shop and go home.

But they won't. What will probably start happening is they will retrospectively blame China.

Parents upset after high school brings in Planned Parenthood to teach students about abortion and sex without their permission

abortion
Well informed children, who are able to procreate, should have all the facts when it comes to learning about the ins and outs of sexual reproduction and abortion. Because abortion is a part of Western society, children should be educated about it. However, this education should come from parents or an objective entity approved by their parents to teach their children about abortion.

At Schenectady High School in New York, however, parents were not given the opportunity to approve the entity who would teach their children about abortion and this has caused major backlash-especially given that this entity is the largest abortion chain in the country, Planned Parenthood.

As the Daily Gazette reports, Vivian Parsons, who grew up in Schenectady, told the school board she felt her rights as a parent were ignored when the district failed to notify her about a teen pregnancy prevention assembly held the previous Thursday that involved Planned Parenthood educators. She said she should have been given a chance to keep her daughter out of the program. Parsons said she learned about the assembly from her daughter last week.

"I have a right to know if this kind of stuff will be presented to my daughter," Parsons told the school board. "Not every parent is OK with an association with Planned Parenthood, regardless of content."
