'Bombmaker working for Kiev' busted in Russia - FSB

A man who produced homemade bombs for Ukrainian intelligence assets has been arrested in Russia's Kaluga Region, the Federal Service Security (FSB) claimed on Monday.

The suspect, a Russian national in his early 50s, was recruited by Ukrainian special services in October 2023, according to a service statement. He produced several improvised explosive devices (IED) at a workshop at his country house, which he then hid at secret locations for others to pick up and use, the FSB has claimed.

Overall, seven Russian nationals have reportedly been taken into custody as part of the same investigation. The IED supplier was allegedly involved in bomb plots that planned to target a police precinct, a military officers' club, the offices of two energy companies, and a gas distribution station, the FSB stated. All of the planned attacks, which were due to take place in Russia's Belgorod, Bryansk and Tula regions, were thwarted, according to the agency.

Pope urges inquiry into Gaza genocide allegations

Pope Francis has called for an investigation to determine if Israel's attacks on Gaza amount to genocide of the Palestinian people, according to excerpts from an upcoming book which were released on Sunday.

In some of his most direct criticism yet, the pontiff has called on the global community to make a legal assessment of Israel's actions in Gaza.

"According to some experts, what is happening in Gaza has the characteristics of a genocide," the Pope said in excerpts published by Italian daily La Stampa. "It should be carefully investigated to determine whether it fits into the technical definition formulated by jurists and international bodies."

The book, by Hernan Reyes Alcaide and based on interviews with the Pope, is entitled 'Hope never disappoints. Pilgrims towards a better world'. It is due to be released on Tuesday.

Apple removes US state-funded media from Russian store

An app used by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty was flagged by Moscow's regulator.

Apple has removed an app of the US-funded broadcaster Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) from the AppStore in Russia in response to a demand from the country's media regulator (Roskomnadzor).

According to RFE/RL, the US tech giant notified the outlet that the app, which hosts the Siberia.Realities and North.Realities websites, was flagged by the regulator because it hosted content made by an organization labeled as 'undesirable' in Russia.

Russia designated RFE/RL, initially launched as a CIA information cut-out, as a 'foreign agent' in 2020 and banned the broadcaster in 2022, citing "the publication of materials that contain false information" about the Ukraine conflict. The broadcaster blasted the decision, accusing Moscow of attempting to punish "truthful reporting."

Undersea data cable between Germany and Finland broken

Authorities in Finland are investigating the cause of a broken underwater cable in the Baltic Sea which runs southwest to Germany.

State-owned data service provider Cinia reported on Monday that a fault had been detected in the C-Lion1 cable.

Communication connections 'interrupted'

"As a result of the fault, the communication connections running on the C-Lion1 submarine cable are interrupted," the company said, adding that the cause of the disruption was being investigated.

The Finnish Broadcasting Corporation YLE cited Samuli Bergström, communications chief at the Finnish National Cyber Security Center Traficom, as also having confirmed the break.

The single most important witness in six years of investigations into the cause of Dawn Sturgess's death, the pathologist appointed by the government to conduct her post-mortem, has testified that he failed to discover Novichok in his eleven-hour long autopsy. Instead, his official reports from 2018 reveal that he was told to find Novichok by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), the UK chemical warfare centre at Porton Down. But he didn't sign his name to that for more than four months after the autopsy, until November 29, 2018.

The witness is Guy Rutty (lead images). He appeared in a state-censored format at the Sturgess Inquiry hearing on November 5, chaired by retired Appeal Court judge, Anthony Hughes (titled Lord Hughes of Ombersley).

A sociologist criticized calls on the left for Americans to cut off family members and other loved ones who voted for President-elect Donald Trump, saying such measures were extreme and unhealthy for society.

"I don't think that's a great piece of advice. I mean, it sounds like a cult," Brad Wilcox, a sociology professor and director of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia, told Fox News Digital.

"Cults often encourage people to cut off their family and friends just to kind of keep people within the cult. So I don't take that advice as worth following," he added.

Wilcox was responding to advice given to Harris voters on MSNBC, just days after the election, where one guest suggested that it would be better for these voters' mental health to distance themselves from their Trump-supporting loved ones over the holidays.

Comment: The Left has come clean on their anti-family agenda. Atomized, isolated individuals are easier to control.

Well, it turns out that The Onion's acquisition of InfoWars is not a done deal. Following an auction process on Thursday that drew headlines across the media landscape for its absurdity, the Texas judge overseeing the bankruptcy sale has raised questions about how the sale was conducted. A hearing has been called for next week to review the auction process.

InfoWars is a fringe, right-wing website founded in 1999 and operated by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. The organization was shuttered on Thursday following the conclusion of the auction, but has since relaunched after Judge Christopher Lopez paused the sale.

Let's get the easy part over with upfront.

On paper, Matt Gaetz isn't qualified to be the Attorney General of the United States.

His résumé is paper thin.

And he operates under a dark cloud of controversy which, under normal circumstances, would be automatically disqualifying.

And I'll add this — if Matt Gaetz is found criminally guilty of any of the things he has been alleged to have committed, then he is, in fact, automatically disqualified.

But herein lies the rub: he has not been found guilty of anything.

A multiple-missile attack by Yemen's Houthi rebels on two US warships has been thwarted, the Pentagon has said.

At least eight drones, five anti-ship ballistic missiles and three anti-ship cruise missiles were aimed at the USS Stockdale and the USS Spruance on Monday.

The vessels shot down the projectiles and were "not damaged and no personnel were hurt," Pentagon press secretary Air Force Major Gen Pat Ryder told reporters on Tuesday.
