Conservative shot and killed by NBC News affiliate's security guard at 'Patriot Rally' in Denver - UPDATE: Shooter didn't have security guard license

A shooting in Denver on Saturday afternoon at a “BLM-Antifa Soup Drive” has left a conservative demonstrator dead, whom police say was shot and killed by a security guard hired by NBC News affiliate 9NEWS.
This story has been updated to reflect new information from the Denver Police that indicates the shooter is believed to be private security for a local television station. Initial reporting from the Denver Post stated that the shooter was a left-wing activist.

A shooting in Denver on Saturday afternoon at a "BLM-Antifa Soup Drive" has left a conservative demonstrator dead, whom police say was shot and killed by a security guard hired by NBC News affiliate 9NEWS.

The shooting, which was caught on multiple livestreams and shared on social media, involved a man participating in what was billed as a "Patriot Rally" of conservative Trump supporters. The rally was organized by John Tiegen, a right-wing social media figure. Conservatives carried banners that mocked communism and chanted slogans in support of the police.

Comment: According to CBS Denver the shooter, Matthew Dolloff, was not licensed to be a security guard. He wasn't working for Pinkerton:
Private security guard, Matthew Dolloff, was contracted through a third-party firm by Pinkerton, but was not an actual employee, the company clarified in a statement, cited by 9NEWS. Pinkerton did not disclose the name of Dolloff's regular employer. "The agent in question is not a Pinkerton employee. Pinkerton is fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities in their investigation of this matter," the statement says as quoted.

Dolloff, 30, was contracted to protect 9NEWS staff, an NBC-affiliated television station in Denver, Colorado, as the station covered rivaling Black Lives Matter and "Patriot Muster" demonstrations in the city on Saturday. The security guard is accused of shooting and killing US Navy veteran Lee Keltner after a brief altercation with the conservative protester. Dolloff was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.
A social media post from 4 years ago suggests he may have had a history of confronting conservatives.

With over a million deaths, there are now countless people who know someone to have passed away from Covid-19. For one Russian family, mourning was followed by a shock, after their 'dead' relative turned out to be very much alive.

In the tiny Siberian village of Shabanovo, around 3,000km east of Moscow, an elderly pensioner was laid to rest in a closed coffin, after being hospitalized with coronavirus. Just a week later, the family received a call from the man's nursing home with news that their dead relative was, in fact, still living - and they had buried a different man.

According to the nursing home's acting director, Savely Sarbadakov, two elderly residents were diagnosed with Covid-19, their identities were mixed up when one passed away.

The NYPD arrested an Orthodox Jewish activist and radio host on Sunday night after a journalist was reportedly assaulted while covering protests against newly implemented COVID-19 restrictions across the city, according to Newsweek.

The new measures limit gatherings in houses of worship and other areas identified as COVID-19 clusters or hotspots.

Activists are calling for the UK Labour Party to drop MP Rosie Duffield, alleging transphobia, following an interview she gave about a previous wave of online attacks sparked by her comment that people "with a cervix" are women.

In an interview with the Times published on Monday, Duffield said that she has been attacked online and even received death threats since tweeting in August that "only women have a cervix" - a reference to a much-ridiculed CNN story about "individuals with a cervix."

"You could take that as a joke and think it's just some silly boy behind his keyboard, but it's pretty sinister," she said, discussing the threats she has received. It has gotten so bad, she added, that it has started to make her feel scared walking down the street.

Israel-born actress Gal Gadot revealed on 11 October that she would be trying on the role of Cleopatra in a retelling of the epic made famous by Elizabeth Taylor in the 1963 classic, sparking an outcry over her casting as the legendary Egyptian Queen.

​Gadot went on Twitter to share her excitement over joining forces again with "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins for the "thrilling" new project, to be produced by Paramount Pictures and written by Laeta Kalogridis.

Residents at nursing and rehabilitation facility in Greeley organized a protest against Colorado's coronavirus restrictions. On Thursday, about 20 residents gathered outside Fairacres Manor, many in wheelchairs, holding signs that read "Rather die from COVID than loneliness," and "Prisoners in our own home," and "Give us freedom."

Ben Gonzales, an assistant administrator at Fairacres Manor, said the residents are upset about the COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the state health department.

"They want to be able to hug their grandchildren, they want to be able to hold the hands of their loved ones," Gonzales said.

Gonzales said the residents are able to see visitors, but they have to stay six feet apart and can't have any physical contact.

A 25-year-old man is dead after falling more than 250 feet off a cliff to his death as he was taking pictures at a scenic overlook, according to the National Park Service.

The incident occurred when the National Park Service Dispatch at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area received a report at approximately 9:04 a.m. on Oct. 4 indicating that a man had fallen off a cliff.

The NPS reported that witnesses saw the man, later identified as Orlando Serrano-Arzola from Phoenix, taking pictures at the Glen Canyon Overlook near Page, Arizona, before falling an estimated 100 feet and then sliding approximately 150 feet further down into the canyon.

"A Coconino County Sheriff's Office Deputy rappelled to the victim at 9:27 a.m and confirmed the victim was deceased," the NPS said in a statement. "The Coconino County Sheriff's Office, National Park Service, Page Police Department and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation provided assistance with recovery operations. The victim was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Flagstaff for an autopsy."

Australians weary of restrictions are out of luck, as the country's new budget predicts social distancing will continue for two years and long-distance travel is to remain off-limits until everyone is able to get a Covid-19 jab.

Widespread adoption of a vaccine for the novel coronavirus will be a prerequisite for Australians being able to travel long distances again, according to the country's new budget that was unveiled on Tuesday. Until that vaccine is rolled out, they can expect social distancing, intermittent lockdowns and a stagnant economy.

"It is assumed that over the forecast period material localised outbreaks of COVID19 occur but are largely contained. A population-wide Australian COVID19 vaccination program is assumed to be fully in place by late 2021. General social distancing restrictions are assumed to continue until a vaccine is fully available," reads the part of the document titled "Key assumptions."

The budget papers' attempt to put a positive spin on travel-loving Australians being confined to the continent is to pour $250 million into encouraging anyone feeling wanderlust to explore "their own backyard" - i.e. the rest of Australia. State borders are expected to be open by Christmas, except for Western Australia, which is projected to remain closed until its election in March.

Police in central Russia are searching for an 18-year-old male after a shooting spree in a suburban town near Nizhny Novgorod on Monday. Three people were killed and three injured; one of the victims was the gunman's grandmother.

A police source told Moscow news agency TASS that the teenager, named as Daniil Monakhov, first had an argument with his grandmother, whom he wounded with a gunshot from a hunting weapon. He then killed a neighbor before opening fire on people at a nearby bus stop.

Cops believe Monakhov, who fled from the scene of the murders in a Kia car, is carrying two smoothbore shotguns, one of which he has held legally since September. He is believed to have around 40 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon in the village of Bolsheorlovskoe, outside the town of Bor, itself a major suburb of Nizhny Novgorod, the country's sixth-largest city. Specialist officers from the Spetsnaz unit of the National Guard of Russia have been sent to the area to find Monakhov.
