Vladimir Putin has criticized Washington's unilateral actions on the international arena, saying that whatever it touches seems to be turning into Libya or Iraq. Below are the top 10 quotes from the Russian President's speech at the Seliger youth forum.

Unilateral decisions made outside the United Nations are usually doomed to failure, Putin said Friday, while speaking at the "Seliger-2014" annual youth forum.

"Do you remember the joke: 'Whatever Russians make, they always end up with a Kalashnikov?' I get an impression that whatever Americans touch they always end up with Libya or Iraq," Putin told the participants of the 10th forum held on Lake Seliger in Tver region, some 370 km north of Moscow.

"When decisions are made unilaterally, they always turn out to be short lived. And the other way round: it's difficult to reach consensus at the UN because often opposite opinions and positions collide. But that is the only way to achieve long-term decisions," he said.

Michael Spindelegger, ÖVP Chairman, Austria's vice Chancellor and Finance Minister has announced he is stepping down from all political functions during a press conference citing criticism from his own political party over his refusal to accelerate tax reform plans.

Spindelegger said at the press conference that he is giving up his function as head of the conservative People's Party, the junior government coalition partner of the Social Democrats. Now the ÖVP must occupy the newly freed up positions.

He said that reducing taxes for the average wage-earner now would come at the cost of new government debt or increasing other forms of taxation. He told reporters that he opposes both scenarios.

Spindelegger became vice chancellor three years ago and was appointed finance minister last year.

Government engineered false-flag terrorism is a historically established fact. For centuries, political and financial elites have been sinking ships, setting buildings on fire, assassinating diplomats, overthrowing elected leaders, and blowing people up, then blaming these disasters on convenient scapegoats so that they can induce fear in the public and transfer more power to themselves. Skeptics might argue whether certain calamities have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be false-flag events, but no one can argue that such tactics have not been used by the establishment in the past. Governments have openly admitted to creating bloody and catalyzing tragedies under false pretenses, like Operation Gladio, a false-flag program in Europe supported by European and American covert agencies which lasted decades, from the 1950's to the 1990's.

Gladio utilized well-paid and trained rogue groups and agents as well as patsies, compartmentalized and controlled, who would commit atrocities against the European public. These atrocities would then be blamed on "left wing extremists", galvanizing the citizenry and political representatives towards the false East/West paradigm. The superficial motivation given by whistleblowers was that Gladio was to be used to keep the right wing in power. However, the broader and deeper goal was clearly to manipulate Europeans into accepting a unification mindset, paving the way for the eventual centralization of Europe into the EU supranational block. Gladio, is only one well documented example of false-flag terrorism being exploited by governments to mold mass psychology towards greater collectivism.

The World is at a dangerous Crossroads. The Western military alliance is in an advanced state of readiness. And so is Russia. Russia is heralded as the "Aggressor". US-NATO military confrontation with Russia is contemplated. Enabling legislation in the US Senate under "The Russian Aggression Prevention Act" (RAPA) has "set the US on a path towards direct military conflict with Russia in Ukraine."
Any US-Russian war is likely to quickly escalate into a nuclear war, since neither the US nor Russia would be willing to admit defeat, both have many thousands of nuclear weapons ready for instant use, and both rely upon Counterforce military doctrine that tasks their military, in the event of war, to preemptively destroy the nuclear forces of the enemy. The Russian Aggression Prevention Act (RAPA) is the culmination of more than twenty years of US-NATO war preparations, which consist in the military encirclement of both Russia and China:
From the moment the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the United States has relentlessly pursued a strategy of encircling Russia, just as it has with other perceived enemies like China and Iran. It has brought 12 countries in central Europe, all of them formerly allied with Moscow, into the NATO alliance. US military power is now directly on Russia's borders. Comment: NATO has tried time and time again to paint Russia as the aggressor in Ukraine, while the OSCE has repeatedly stated that there is no evidence that this is true. In fact the "separatists" (ordinary people protecting themselves from NATO-installed Kiev) are doing just fine without Russian regulars.

The West and Israel destabilize and destroy every country that poses a threat to their hegemony. It seems now that the West might have both over-extended and met their match in the BRICS. This is what makes this moment such an important time to spread the truth about what is occurring. Psychopaths in power will do anything to keep it, and manipulating public opinion is a crucial part of their agenda.

NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen poses the greatest danger to international peace today, Daniel McAdams, the director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, told RIA Novosti.

"The greatest danger to world peace these days seems to be outgoing NATO secretary general," McAdams said.

"Rasmussen has repeatedly echoed each irresponsible and unproven claim made by the Kiev government about Russian actions and intentions in east Ukraine," McAdams added.

According to McAdams, the statements made by Rasmussen regarding Russia sound groundless and absurd.

"Whether it was the bogus reports of a column of Russia military vehicles destroyed by Ukrainian forces, or the Russian aid convoy containing military equipment, or yet another Russian 'massing' of troops on its own borders, Rasmussen comes across as almost psychologically unhinged...This is not the qualities one would hope for in someone leading a multinational military alliance," McAdams said.

Next week, NATO members are scheduled to meet in Wales to discuss the alliance's response to Russia, which it accuses of interfering in Ukrainian affairs.

Ahead of the NATO summit, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have urged the military bloc to mention Moscow as a potential aggressor in its summit communique.

The situation in Libya is in the state of 'free fall' and is aggravated by interference of foreign countries, Russian Permanent Representative at the UN Vitaly Churkin said after a meeting of the global organisation's Security Council on the situation in the North African country on Wednesday.

"Certainly, Libya is in the state of 'free fall'," the diplomat told ITAR-TASS. In his words, debate in the UN Security Council did not clarify who had delivered air strikes on Islamist positions in the country in the last few days. Egypt and the United Arab Emirates were behind this action, media reported.

"The government keeps silence, so, the affair is unclear in general. This is unclear whether the government asked or did not ask for this," he said.

Coming reports point to the fact that positions of opposition forces came under air strikes, Churkin said. If the government admits that bombings were being made at its request "this will be much worse, because its situation is extremely infirm all the same," the Russian ambassador believed.

Comment: Whether it is Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya or Ukraine, the solution is same: "No force, should it be domestic or foreign, can impose its decision."

President Vladimir Putin said on Friday Russia's armed forces, backed by its nuclear arsenal, were ready to meet any aggression, declaring at a pro-Kremlin youth camp that foreign states should understand: "It's best not to mess with us."

Putin told the assembly, on the banks of a lake near Moscow, the Russian takeover of Crimea in March was essential to save a largely Russian-speaking population from Ukrainian government violence.

He said continued fighting in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists launched an uprising in April, was the result of a refusal by Kiev to negotiate.

Russian, Iranian foreign ministers to discuss Iran nuclear program

Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Mohammad Javad Zarif during their meeting in Moscow on August 29 will discuss the Iranian nuclear program, the situation in the region and preparation for the Caspian summit, which will be held in the Russian city of Astrakhan in the autumn this year.

Russian-Iranian relations based on principles of friendship and mutual respect for interests of each other, political contacts and practical cooperation have been actively developing in recent time, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday in connection with the planned visit by the Iranian foreign minister to Moscow.

A number of important documents are expected to be signed during the Caspian summit, the ministry said.

Russia and Iran seek to unite efforts to accelerate their social and economic development, first of all to increase bilateral trade volumes. Russian-Iranian cooperation may have a positive effect on the situation in the Middle East and create additional conditions to ensure security and stability in the region, the ministry said.

Comment: It seems that Russia has been the only one so far to recognize 'the exclusively peaceful character of Iran's nuclear program'. It is worth mentioning that time and again, it has been proven that Iran's nuclear program does not have a military purpose:

- Iran explains why it needs nuclear program
- Experts: No evidence of Iranian nuclear weapons program
- No Concrete Proof Iran Nuclear Program Is Military

Meanwhile, the U.S. has been easing sanctions on Iran in an effort to hurt Russia. From Did Iran just knife Putin in the back?:
Iran's fictional "nuclear program" had nothing to do easing sanctions. The whole thing is a red herring. The nuclear program is just a stick the US uses to beat up Tehran whenever they get the urge. Here's what's really happened: Washington agreed to ease up on the sanctions if Iran caved in on the gas deal, which it did. Now the US-backed Nabucco pipeline is back in business, while Russia's South Stream is on the rocks. ...

The only way Washington would do a deal with arch-enemy Iran, is if there was some other country they hated even more.

That would be Russia.

Most of us woke up this morning to news that the UK had raised its terror threat level from "substantial" to "severe." Considering the competence and trustworthiness of the nation's Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, there must be some specific threat they're concerned about to justify instilling fear in a population of 65 million. Nope.

Although the new threat level rates the risk of an attack on the UK to "highly likely," Home Secretary Theresa May stated that "there was no evidence to suggest one was imminent." Well then.

It makes you wonder if the the change in threat level is being used in part to justify the extraordinary $80 million sum spent on building a fortress around the Newport and Cardiff city centers in Wales, which many are describing as "similar to the Berlin Wall," or a "zoo," in an unprecedented display of protection for many of the world's most corrupt politicians.
