Gaslighting on the world stage: Which came first? Palestinian rockets or Israeli violence?

Since US media are reporting the latest Israeli massacre in Gaza as though it is a defensive action, I thought I would set the record straight. Israeli forces shelled and invaded Gaza BEFORE the rockets began. Rockets were fired only after numerous Palestinians, including many children, had been killed.

According to a pro-Israel website, the Jewish Virtual Library, Gaza rocket fire against Israel began in 2001. Four rockets were launched in the entire year.

The Israeli military website agrees with this chronology, saying that the first rocket was launched from Gaza on April 16, 2001.

Protestors allegedly throw Molotov cocktails at cops in Ferguson, Missouri - State Governor Nixon calls in National Guard

Gov. Jay Nixon announced early Monday that he would deploy the Missouri National Guard to this St. Louis suburb as part of a fresh attempt by the authorities to quell the unrest that has paralyzed the town since an unarmed black teenager was killed by a white police officer.

Mr. Nixon said in a statement that he chose to activate the National Guard because of "deliberate, coordinated and intensifying violent acts."

"Tonight, a day of hope, prayers and peaceful protests was marred by the violent criminal acts of an organized and growing number of individuals, many from outside the community and state, whose actions are putting the residents and businesses of Ferguson at risk," Mr. Nixon said.

The governor's decision came after the worst night of violence since the unrest began.

Comment: Something's not right about the media's portrayal of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri.

Why were cops ordered to stand-down from going after looters?

Locals say these looters are "from out of town".

Why did the police target journalists instead?

Lavrov meets Klimkin in Berlin for ceasefire talks

Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers are meeting in Berlin for the first time in weeks for talks aimed at ending the conflict in eastern Ukraine, where there was heavy fighting over the weekend for control of the city of Luhansk.
The meeting between Pavlo Klimkin of Ukraine and Russia's Sergey Lavrov is being attended by their German counterpart Frank-Walter-Steinmeier and France's Laurent Fabius. Steinmeier said in a statement before the talks:

"It is all about finding a roadmap towards a sustainable ceasefire and a framework for effective border controls. Only in this way can eastern Ukraine calm down and Kiev continue a national dialogue that appropriately involves the people in the east."

Steinmeier warned that "a simple recipe does not exist". He added: "That is why it is so important in my view that we all sit down at a table at this time."

Comment: Klimkin represents his puppet government which only knows how to cook by the recipe of US military and political advisers.

Russian humanitarian aid trucks finally cleared to enter Ukraine in batches

Image
© Reuters/Alexander DemianchukA Russian convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian aid for Ukraine drives along a road from Kamensk-Shakhtinsky in the direction of the border with Ukraine, Rostov Region, August 17, 2014.
Russian humanitarian aid trucks will cross the Ukrainian border in small batches of several dozen vehicles and only after a thorough examination by border guards, Kiev says, following an official acknowledgment of 280 trucks carrying crisis-relief cargo.

"The cargo, in agreement with the mission of the Red Cross, will be delivered to the international crossing point of Izvarino-Donetsk in batches of up to 30 vehicles," the head of the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service Anatoliy Makarenko was quoted as saying by LB.ua.

After clearing customs, the aid trucks will be transferred "only to official representatives of the Red Cross," Makarenko added.

The Red Cross is expected to arrive at the border crossing on Monday to perform the necessary procedures.

Currently, only 16 trucks from the humanitarian convoy are at the "Donetsk" border checkpoint on the Russian side, awaiting inspection, while the rest are still parked at a local depot in order to avoid jamming the border crossing.

Comment: This hold up has been completely unnecessary and a move by Kiev to extend the suffering of others, while trying to demonize Putin for doing something that is human. There are thousands of people who are in desperate need of aid. But of course that's not a concern of the Nazi thugs in Kiev or they wouldn't have destroyed entire cities to begin with.

China's state media declares Australia a military threat over US pact

China's state-run media have declared Australia a threat to its national security, after Australia finalized a 25-year military pact with the United States.

The United States currently has 1,200 troops from the Marine Corps and Air Force training with Australian troops for humanitarian and disaster relief. The defense agreement will increase the number of U.S. troops at Darwin in northern Australia to 2,500.

The Chinese regime is none too pleased about the agreement, however.

Li Jie, rear admiral of China's People's Liberation Army Navy, told Want China Times that Australia could pressure China's supply lines in the Strait of Malacca in a conflict over the South China Sea.

New Iraq PM was former BBC lift engineer

Image
Incoming Iraqi prime ministerHaider al-Abadi was once in charge of servicing BBC’s lifts
He may have taken a step up in the world this week but Iraq's incoming prime minister was once known for his downs as well as his ups, as the man in charge of servicing BBC's lifts, the British broadcaster has said.

Haider al-Abadi was this week appointed to replace outgoing prime minister Nouri al-Maliki.

In a profile of Mr Abadi, the BBC news website said the electrical engineer was for several years "in charge of the company servicing the lifts at the BBC's Bush House, then the home of the World Service, and was known by several journalists there."

Former BBC Arabic journalist Hamid Alkifaey has recalled meeting the future prime minister during his time as a lift engineer.

"He used to come to oversee the work and see how it progresses," Hamid Alkifaey told BBC World Service's The Fifth Floor today.

Comment: Missing from this report is any mention of the fact that Mr Abadi is effectively a British citizen, schooled in British ways and laws and most likely entirely beholden to British interests. How's that for 'freedum and dimocracy"?

Texas governor rejects power abuse indictment - stands by use of veto power

Image

Texas Governor Rick Perry, a potential Republican Presidential candidate in 2016, has announced that he will fight allegations of power abuse against him, calling the accusations a political move that rips away the very fabric of the US constitution.

"This indictment amounts to nothing more than an abuse of power and I cannot, and I will not allow that to happen," Perry said in Austin, Texas, adding that he stands by his use of the veto power which ended in charges being laid against him.

"We don't settle political differences with indictments in this country. It is outrageous that some would use partisan political theatrics to rip away at the very fabric of our state's constitution," he added.

"I wholeheartedly and unequivocally stand behind my veto, and will continue to defend this lawful action of my executive authority as governor."

He called the case against him a "farce of a prosecution" that he intends to fight against and win.

A possible Republican presidential candidate in 2016, Perry was indicted on Friday in Travis County, a Democratic nucleus in a mainly Republican state, on two counts of abuse of power and coercion. Perry was indicted for fulfilling a veto threat that consisted of $7.5 million withholding funds for the state's anti-corruption group, the Public Integrity Unit.

Russia and the beginning of a world shift

Anglo-Saxon agression against Russia is taking the form of financial and economic warfare. However, Moscow is preparing for armed hostilities by developing its agricultural self-sufficency and multiplying its alliances. For Thierry Meyssan, after the creation of the caliphate in the Levant, Washington would lay down a new card in September in St. Petersburg. The ability of Russia to maintain its internal stability will determine the course of events.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation
© UnknownThe Shanghai Cooperation Organization will represent, from its probable extension in September 2014, 40% of world population.
The offensive led by Anglos-Saxons (USA, UK and Israel) for world domination continues on two lines simultaneously: both the creation of the "Greater Middle East" (Greater Middle East) by attacking simultaneously Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, and separating Russia from the European Union through the crisis they organised in Ukraine.

In this sprint, it seems that Washington wants to impose the dollar as the single currency in the gas market, the energy source of the twenty-first century, the way it imposed it on the oil [1] market. The Western media hardly cover the war in Donbass and their population is ignorant of the scale of the fighting, the US military presence, the number of civilian casualties, the wave of refugees. On the other hand, Western media have a delayed reaction to events in North Africa and the Levant, presenting them either as the result of a so-called "Arab Spring" (that is to say, in practice, a takeover by the Muslim Brotherhood), or as the destructive effect of a civilization which is inherently violent. More than ever, it is necessary to help the Arabs who are incapable of living peacefully in the absence of Western settlers.

Russia is now the leading power capable of leading the resistance to Anglo-Saxon imperialism. It has three tools: BRICS, an alliance of economic rivals who know they can not grow up without one another, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a strategic alliance with China to stabilize Central Asia and finally, the Organization for Collective Security Treaty, a military alliance of former Soviet states.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Untold History of the U.S. - Interview with Peter Kuznick

Image
This week on SOTT Talk Radio we spoke with Peter Kuznick, Professor of History and Director of the Nuclear Studies Institute at American University in Washington, DC. Kuznick received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in 1984 and was active in the Civil Rights and anti-Vietnam War movements. He is author and co-author of several books on the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the use of nuclear power, and the Cold War.

Kuznick and Oliver Stone co-authored the 10-part documentary film series and book - The Untold History of the United States - which explores some of the under-reported and darkest parts of American 20th century history using little known documents and newly uncovered archival material.

We explored with Professor Kuznick the creation of the U.S. National Security State during WW2, the real reasons behind the Cold War and the decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan, and the side-lining of 'the man who would be president', Henry Wallace.

Netanyahu poses threat to Israel survival: International lawyer

Bibi
© Press TVIsrael Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
A Canadian international lawyer says the war crimes committed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against Gaza civilians are posing "the greatest threat to Israel's survival."

The remarks come days after William Schabas was elected to head the UN Human Rights Council commission investigating Israel's war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

The UN Human Rights Council has recently condemned the Israeli attacks on Gaza as disproportionate and indiscriminate. The council says it has launched an international inquiry into Israel's violations of human rights in its month-long war on the Palestinian territory.

Thousands of Israelis have also held a rally in Tel Aviv to protest the war-mongering policies of Premier Netanyahu.
