Sott Exclusive: Another phony 'suicide' bombing in Turkey?

istanbul bombing

After last Sunday's bogus 'suicide car bomb' in Ankara that killed 37 people, another alleged 'suicide bomber' - this time allegedly on foot - 'blew himself up' on Istiklal Ave, one of Istanbul's busiest shopping areas on the European side of the city. Bizarrely, of the five people killed (including the alleged bomber), 3 were Israeli Jews - a man and wife and another as yet unidentified individual. The dead were apparently part of a group of Israeli tourists. The odds of a random bomb killing 3 Israeli Jews out of the thousands of other people on a busy Turkish shopping street is rather low, it has to be said.

Brutal regime: Saudi Arabia strikes Yemeni market at rush hour; no military goal

saudi airstrikes yemen
United Nations Blames Saudi Arabia for Civilian Deaths in Yemen
UN inspectors, who visited the Al Khamees market in north-western Yemen, where Saudi airstrikes killed over a hundred people this week, found no evidence that the attack could have any military goal.

The closest target of any value to justify the bombing is a small checkpoint some 250 meters from the market, which is manned by a small group of Houthis, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein said on Friday.

The market attack in Hajja Governorate on Wednesday was one of the deadliest incidents in Saudi Arabia's year-long campaign in Yemen, Zeid said, describing it as "carnage." The death toll was reported as 106 people, including 24 children. The high figures are explained by the timing of the airstrikes, which were delivered during the afternoon rush hour at the market. It serves as the main shopping destination for some 15 surrounding villages.

Comment: Saudi Arabia along with the US-led coalition continues their horrific and despicable carnage in Yemen.

Ankara allows 'extensive movement of jihadists at Syria-Turkey border'

The Turkish government facilitates the movement of jihadists between Syria and Turkey, according to a report by a Turkish organization "Right to life, against war". It reflects the situation in the province of Hatay which is on the border with Syria.

The report suggests that the border area has become a hub for jihadists from various nationalities: on the border al-Nusra Front has a strong hold and inside the city Daesh has its command.

Despite the fact that a lot of time has passed since the terrorist attack on May 11, 2013, in the town of Reyhanlı of the Hatay province, the region's population still lives in fear that the explosions may take place again.

In the city the Arabs, Alawites and Christians are subjected to severe harassment. Sunnis are being provoked, using provocative rhetoric. Stagnation of the economy, high unemployment, low wages and a complete lack of stability all of this has become chronic, becoming an integral part of realities of life in Hatay.

Comment: So, effectively the money that the EU is paying Erdogan off with - ostensibly to keep the Syrian migrants in Turkey and out of Europe - is actually going towards the sheltering, safe-keeping and relocation and redeployment of terrorists. Not to mention using Turkish police against citizens who are peaceably protesting the flagrant presence of terrorist groups in the Turkish Provence of Hatay. Nice racket, eh?

The US's standard operating procedure: How the CIA created 'Islamist terrorism'

Washington and its allies created the Islamist Frankenstein with their own hands: over the decades radical Muslim 'agents of destruction' have formed the belt of instability which stretches across the MENA region to Central Asia and beyond. But how did it all begin?

Back in December 1979 the USSR deployed a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan in response to repeated requests from the Afghani government.

It is worth mentioning that the Soviet leadership had long hesitated to launch the military operation aimed at stabilizing the political situation in the Central Asian state, considering it completely "unreasonable."

Comment: We've been saying it for years: the US created ISIS, al-Qaeda, and the entire concept of Islamic terrorists. Without their direct and active support, there would likely be no so-called "Islamic terrorism" (aka US proxy warfare and "regime change"), nor the suffering and death of millions caused by this proxy warfare. Exporting hypocrisy: Obama's trip to Cuba to include lecture on human rights despite routine human rights violations by US at Gitmo

Comment: Obama, along with the United States, has one of the most abysmal track records of human rights abuses in the history of the planet. It would be comical if it weren't so nauseating that he's going to Cuba in part to lecture Cuba on human rights issues while maintaining Guantanamo Bay, one of the hallmarks of the human rights abuses of the US empire, in Cuba! The level of hypocrisy and hubris on Obama's and the US's part is simply astonishing.

President Barack Obama will visit Cuba on March 21-22 to normalize US-Cuban relations and boost economic ties.

President Barack Obama is set to visit Havana on March 21-22 in his efforts to normalize US-Cuban relations and boost economic ties, but human rights and Guantanamo Bay are likely to prove contentious issues.

"We [the Obama administration] see this trip as continuing the process that accelerated on December 17th with the announcement that the US and Cuba would begin to normalize relations... as we are very clear about areas of continued disagreement, including our strong support for human rights," US Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes told reporters earlier this week.

Russian Foreign Ministry: New expropriation of Palestinian territory land by Israel illegal

The Russian Foreign Ministry called illegal the new expropriation of land by Israel in the Palestinian territories, according to a statement issued on Friday. Moscow expressed "concern about the settlement projects of Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories."

"A few days ago, the Israeli authorities announced the expropriation of 154.5 hectares of land near the town of Jericho in the West Bank of the Jordan River. This area has been declared 'the land of the Israeli state,'" the statement reads.

"These actions are illegal under international law and the decisions on them should be reviewed," the ministry stressed. Moscow urged "all the sides to refrain from unilateral steps that undermine the prospects of the Palestinian issue settlement on the internationally recognized basis."

SOTT Focus: The Truth Perspective: Why Daesh is doomed - and other tales of failed terror states

Baghdadi ISIS
Big Bad Baghdadi, Mossad asset?
The Islamic State pretends to be viable state. It's right there in their name. But are they? And if they are, can they sustain themselves? There are certain reasons why states survive or fail, but the least discussed reasons are perhaps the most important. Luckily, these are discussed in Andrew Lobaczewski's Political Ponerology. On this episode of the Truth Perspective, we continued where our previous discussion of radicalization left off, showing why Daesh is doomed to fail, and how its ultimate purpose must be looked for elsewhere. The only reason it has been able to succeed to the degree it has is because of external, foreign support: from their Gulf monarchy sponsors and from the U.S. It actively eschews appealing for popular Muslim support, relying on a tiny minority of sadistic psychopaths and mercenaries.

Russia is playing a big part in the ultimate demise of Daesh. We discussed what Russia and their allies have accomplished, including the latest news: the partial withdrawal of Russian forces from Syria.

Justifying the Pentagon budget: US army general says military unprepared for war with big powers

Despite his confidence in US troops to fight insurgencies, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley voiced "grave concerns" at a congressional budget hearing about the military's capability if it found itself in a war with Russia, China, Iran, or North Korea.

Gen. Milley's testimony on Wednesday to the House Armed Services Committee assured legislators of the military's "good, current capability and capacity" to combat Islamic State and other terrorist insurgencies in countries like Afghanistan. But after nearly 15 years of such missions along with more recent troop cuts, the top general said readiness for a "great power war" had been depleted.
