The German government has granted a Turkish request to allow the possible prosecution of a TV comedian who wrote a crude poem about Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Chancellor Angela Merkel said.

Ankara has demanded to have comedian Jan Boehmermann prosecuted for insulting a foreign head of state.

Under a section of Germany's criminal code, the government has to authorize prosecutors to pursue a case against the comedian.

The code, known as Paragraph 103, concerns insults against organs or representatives of foreign states. However, it is so rarely used that many German politicians and lawyers were previously unaware of its existence.

Here we go again - Déjà vu. Out of the blue we have a 'terror event,' a couple of pop-terrorists, and a new buzz-word nation - Chechnya. The government and its media will give you the tales. They will give you the roller-coaster-like spins. They will not give you what you need to know. While everyone was focused on the "too big to fail" banks that brought the economy crashing down in 2008, other big banks were busy scheming investors in a different way.

In a stunning victory for "conspiracy theorists" within the precious metals space, overnight Deutsche Bank not only agreed to settle a lawsuit accusing it of manipulating the silver fix, but also agreed to help the plaintiffs pursue similar claims against other banks as part of the settlement by providing instant messages and other communications, reports ZeroHedge. And so the former cartel members are turning on each other.

Within the span of 24 hours, it was reported that Deutsche Bank, along with other banks, has been rigging both the silver and gold futures markets since 2007. The German-based bank reached a settlement in two separate lawsuits brought by bullion investors.

According to a recently declassified government cable, Pakistani intelligence paid al-Qaeda to conduct a suicide attack at the CIA base at Camp Chapman.

The document, revealed recently by the National Security Archive, says that Pakistani Intelligence Service paid the sum of $200 to an organization, labeled as "terrorist" in the US, to conduct an attack at the CIA Forward Operations Base at Camp Chapman, located in Khost, Afghanistan.

The attack that took place in 2009, and killed 10 people, including the bomber, the Jordanian intelligence officer and the Afghan driver. The attack is considered the second most deadly at the CIA since the United States embassy bombing in 1985 in Lebanon.

As explosions from detonated mines continued in the background a Syrian general confirmed in some detail an ugly truth: Washington and its close allies Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel backed the ISIS takeover and destruction of Palmyra.

Most of the weapons ISIS used were from the US, with some ammunition from Israel. ISIS had US Hummers, spinning explosive projectiles and military rations from the US, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

That should not have been a surprise. US officials admitted in 2014 that their allies Turkey, the Saudis and Qatar were backing every single armed group in Syria, in an attempt to overthrow the Syrian Government led by President Bashar al Assad.

I'm here again this year to update you on the surreptitious manipulation of the gold market by central banks and to explain how this surreptitious manipulation now extends to all major markets around the world.

This is remarkable not in fact but only in degree.

For central banks long have rigged the gold market, usually suppressing gold prices to protect their own currencies and government bonds against a potentially competitive world reserve currency. Central banks used to do this market rigging in the open, through mechanisms like the London Gold Pool in the 1960s, but they lost too much of their gold reserves that way. Now they do their market rigging surreptitiously using derivatives and high-frequency trading, activities underwritten by the leasing and swapping of gold by central banks. In this way central banks have created a vast, imaginary supply of the monetary metal, a supply of "paper gold" for price suppression.

Over 60% of Brazilians do not believe that President Dilma Rousseff should be subject to impeachment proceedings, but a cadre of corrupt far right politicians armed with NSA surveillance documents continue to push for her ouster.

On Monday, a 65-member congressional committee in Brazil voted to advance impeachment proceedings against President Dilma Rousseff, in relation to the "carwash" corruption investigation. Although President Rousseff is not herself implicated in illegal or corrupt activity, the impeachment is proceeding on the grounds of "a crime of responsibility," suggesting that she should have taken action to prevent corruption.

The congressional committee voted 38 to 27 in favor of impeachment, advancing the proceedings to a full vote of the lower house. If the lower house votes for impeachment by a two-thirds majority, the matter moves to a Senate vote to determine whether to advance a trial, with a simple majority sufficing.

Emergency Fed meetings at the White House, the launching of new gold trading market at the Shanghai Gold Exchange, revelations Deutsche Bank admitting it manipulated gold and silver prices, China starting its own global payment system. These may all seem unrelated, but according to macroeconomic researcher Rob Kirby, they are all connected. Kirby explains,

"With China and their upstart CIPS, which is the China Interbank Payment System, China appears to be on the verge of merging their interbank payment system with SWIFT. My gut is telling me that this will very much marginalize America as the main processor of global payments. This, in my view, will embody very possibly a global reset in terms which currency is going to be the world's reserve currency. I have a very sneaking suspicion that when China merges with the SWIFT system, I believe there is a very strong possibility that China will back their currency with gold. I do believe this is why China has aggressively been buying physical gold for the past 10 or 15 years. They have been doing it with a view to dislodging the dollar or greatly diminishing the dollar as the world's reserve currency. That's what I think is at play right now. I think U.S. bankers and regulators have caught wind of this and are aware it is coming. I also believe this is the reason for all the secret meetings they have been having. The Federal Reserve Board met in secret behind closed doors (Monday morning), and they gave us some frivolous reason why they were meeting. The Fed Chairman, that Monday afternoon, walked over to the White House and met with, not just the President, but also the Vice President. The notion that the President and Vice President would be in the same room at the same time tells you this is national security related. If you don't think the preservation of the dollar as the world's reserve currency isn't a national security issue, you better think again."

Continuing its crackdown on press freedoms, the Turkish government has blocked access to the Sputnik News Agency website. Ankara has justified its decision by citing "administrative measures."

"After technical analysis and legal consideration based on the law Nr. 5651, administration measure has been taken for this website (sputniknews.com) according to decision Nr. 490.05.01.2016.-56092 dated 14/04/2016 of the Presidency of Telecommunication and Communication," reads message that appears for anyone trying to access the Turkish site.

Sputnik News was not notified of the Turkish government's decision ahead of time, according to Turkish bureau chief Tural Kerimov. "We received no notifications, warnings or other messages from the competent authorities. No communications have been received since the blocking," Kerimov said. "Access to Sputnik's website in Turkey is blocked from mobile devices and computers with no VPN."

When asked for clarification of its decision, the Department of Telecommunications and Communication said "because it is already late and there are no responsible persons [available], we cannot provide comment on this issue," insisting they could only comment at a later date.

Reports of website access problems began at roughly 7:50 PM local time, and was blocked several hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin's Q&A, in which he made several statements about Russian-Turkish relations. Putin said he considers Turkey a friend, but the behavior of "individual politicians" is inadequate.

Given a hypothetical scenario in which both President Erdogan and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko were drowning, Putin was asked to whom he would offer a hand. The Russian president responded that it's impossible to save someone who doesn't want saving, but that Russia is ready to assist any partner willing to accept help.

As an Economic Hit Man (EHM) in the 1970s I spent a great deal of time in Panama. I hate to admit it, but I helped forge the system that has now been exposed in the Panama Papers. It is a system of legalized crimes. How else can we describe it?

This EHM system has created a global economy where 62 individuals have as much wealth as half the world's population, big corporations enjoy the airports and highways, fire and police departments, school systems, and other infrastructure of countries like the United States without paying for them and where governments are controlled by a handful of extremely wealthy individuals. The hard-earned tax dollars of the average US citizen finances the infrastructure and social services that benefit the very rich and their corporations while they shelter their incomes in tax havens.

Although the tax sheltering schemes disclosed in the Panama Papers were developed in the 1970s - during my time as an EHM in that country - the foundations of the system go back more than a century. In 1903 President Teddy Roosevelt fomented a rebellion to wrest Panama from Colombia so that the US could build the Panama Canal. JP Morgan and Company was appointed as the new country's official fiscal agent. Soon after that, Panama passed laws that enabled John D Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company to avoid US taxes and regulations by registering its ships in Panama. It was just the beginning. . .
