Contagion of fear and war: Western media propaganda threatens peace and prolongs the deadly conflict in eastern Ukraine

Western media is becoming unhinged as its anti-Russia propaganda struggles to keep a hold on its consumers. Two recent examples provide evidence.

Pro-peace conspiracy emanating from Moscow

On August 28, the New York Times published an article by its Moscow bureau chief about the troubling news (from the Times' viewpoint) that the people of Sweden are not happy with their government's wish to join up with the NATO military alliance.

The ruling elites in Sweden and Finland have been quietly pushing for NATO membership for years. In May, the Swedish government pushed through the Riksdag a proposal for a 'cooperation agreement' with NATO, allowing it freer access to Swedish territory for transit and training. Finland already has such an agreement in place. In July, government leaders of the two countries proudly joined the NATO summit dinner in Warsaw.

Russia earns more from agricultural exports than arms sales

One of the results of Russia's food embargo against the EU and a weaker ruble has been a remarkable boom in agriculture, reports German weekly Der Spiegel.

Russian agriculture has been in decline since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Investors avoided the sector, turning to raw materials instead. Over that period Russia lost about 35 million hectares of arable land, an area almost the size of Germany.

Everything changed in 2014 with the introduction of Western anti-Russia sanctions and Moscow's response.

"In recent years, the share of agriculture in the Russian economy has increased, contrary to the global trend. In the past year, Russia for the first time earned from agricultural exports more than from the sale of arms," the report said.

Russian military has started massive drills to test troops' combat readiness and cooperation between different branches of military in the south of Russia. The exercise involves over 12,000 servicemen including Navy, Airborne and Aerospace units.

The strategic command-and-staff games codenamed Caucasus2016 kicked off on Monday in the Southern military district and will last until September 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.

The main goal is to check and upgrade skills of military commanders "in planning, preparation and conducting of combat operations" by various branches of military.

"About 12,500 servicemen as well as aviation, military hardware and warships" are involved in the drills.

Here we go again: Greece faces standoff over bailout funds after Athens fails to impose reforms

Greece is facing another bailout standoff with its creditors amid reports that eurozone countries will refuse to release additional funds to it this month.

Athens has frustrated its peers in the single currency by implementing only two of the 15 reforms that were a condition of last year's rescue package. EU officials told German daily Handelsblatt that Greece has delayed privatizing state assets, adding to the frustrations of eurozone finance ministers who will discuss progress on Friday.

Further funds are due to be disbursed under the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), which will give Greece up to €86bn (£72bn) of financial assistance by 2018 in return for reforms.

Three big lies that pervade American 'news' media

Nuland handing out cookies in Maidan
A powerful American Jew of eastern European descent hands out cookies to anti-Semitic revolutionaries in Maiden Square, Kiev. Where's the logic in that?
This news-report is being submitted to virtually all U.S. national 'news' media, almost all of which are the very same 'news' media that hide these historical truths, which facts thus remain as "news" in America, since they still haven't yet been reported as "news", even though they've now become history — history that's suppressed in America.

The Big Lies that pervade the U.S. 'news' media are the ones that are essential to sustain in order for the deceived American public to accept the fraudulent basis upon which the U.S. regime of Barack Obama has 'justified' his economic sanctions against Russia, and his pouring of U.S. troops and weapons onto and near Russia's borders:

1: Calling the bloody U.S. coup that overthrew the democratically elected President of Ukraine in February 2014 instead a 'democratic revolution' against him, which established 'democracy in Ukraine,' instead of established a dictatorship and a civil war there.

US has phony economy & artificial stock market

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has described the US economy as "false," saying that the central banking system is intentionally keeping interest rates low to prevent a new economic collapse.

"We have a very false economy," Reuters reported Trump as saying in answering to a journalist's question while campaigning in Ohio on Monday.

"They're keeping the rates down so that everything else doesn't go down," Trump added in response to the question, which was about a possible rise in interest rates by the Federal Reserve this month.

"At some point the rates are going to have to change," Trump said."The only thing that is strong is the artificial stock market."

The ideas on rebuilding the US economy offered by the billionaire in an interview to Fortune magazine in April have been dubbed as questionable by some, while others argue that his approach may work out just fine.

Flashback Forget 'Saint' Teresa, Syria's Mother Agnes is a truth-loving nun

mother agnes nun
Here's what it looks like when a respected reporter tweets about his blackmail note to an established anti-war organization regarding the organization's upcoming conference in a tweet on November 15:
I've informed organizers of @STWuk that I will not participate in their conference if Mother Agnes is on the platform.

— jeremy scahill (@jeremyscahill) 15 Novembre 2013
The reporter is Jeremy Scahill, who was booked as the keynote speaker and to show his film "Dirty Wars" (based on his book "Dirty Wars") at the November 30 International Anti-War Conference in London, put on by Stop the War Coalition (STWuk), which was first organized in 2001 in opposition to an American attack on Iraq. More than 12 years later, the coalition notes dryly on its webpage for the conference, "We need more effective anti-war resistance internationally. This conference is a chance to analyse, build links and lay plans."

Comment: Note how, in the space of a decade, the Stop the War coalition has been ponerized to become, in effect, the Continue the War coalition. Scahill today is part of the Snowden-Greenwald-Omidyar set of neo-liberal interventionists. British 'socialist' socialite pipsqueak Owen Jones also outed himself as such when he too refused to share a platform with Mother Agnes during her 2013 speaking tour.

Meanwhile, Mother Agnes has quietly returned to doing good deeds, leaving all pretenders to the thrones of their castles in the sky...

US sabotaging Venezuela's economy

venezuela economy
As US-backed opposition groups take to the streets of Venezuela, following previously failed US-backed uprisings to effect regime change in the South American nation, Western analysts are particularly optimistic about the chances of success now considering the teetering state of Venezuela's economy.

The UK Independent in an article titled, "Venezuela accuses US of plotting coup as Washington warns of 'imminent collapse'," would state:
The relationship between the US and Venezuela has for many years been nothing less than toxic.

In 2002, then President Hugo Chavez was briefly ousted in a coup by opponents supported by the US. Washington continued to funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars to his critics, while Mr Chavez took to the podium of the UN to accuse George W Bush of being the devil.

Now, President President Nicolas Maduro has extended a state of emergency in the country for another 60 days and accused Washington of plotting against him, as US intelligence has claimed the country is heading for meltdown.

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's staff failed to provide a laptop that reportedly contains an entire archive of Clinton's emails, as requested by the FBI. According to the candidate's HQ, the device must have been lost during postal delivery.

The FBI requested 13 devices associated with the controversial Hillary Clinton email server. However, the candidate's aides failed to provide any single one of them, including a laptop and a thumb drive which supposedly contains an entire email archive.

Reports According to Breitbart.com, Monica Hanley, a former Clinton aide, archived emails from Hillary Clinton's private email server using a laptop provided by the Clinton Foundation. The archive was stored on a thumb drive. This happened in 2013.

Almost a year later, in 2014, Monica Hanley discovered a laptop she forgot to send to one of Clinton's residences and shipped to an undisclosed person, whose name has been redacted in FBI reports. According to Breitbart, this was necessary after an attempt to send the archive remotely failed.

WikiLeaks on Hillary Clinton's health: "It's Parkinson's Disease"

Emails released by Wikileaks show that Hillary Clinton looked into a drug used to treat sleepiness and Parkinson's disease after she apparently began suffering from "decision fatigue" back in 2011.

Clinton sent an email to close confidante and advisor Cheryl D. Mills on August 19, 2011 featuring the text of an article entitled Do You Suffer From Decision Fatigue?

The article talks about how people in positions of power and influence can suffer from "decision fatigue" that causes them to be "low on mental energy" and prompts the sufferer to "become reckless" and "act impulsively". The article also explains how "decision fatigue" could explain why "ordinarily sensible people get angry at colleagues," which is possibly a nod to Clinton's infamous temper tantrums that have left her staffers in tears. "Wow that is spooky descriptive," wrote Hillary in response to the article.
